UNCUT REACTION - Star Trek TAS ep12 - The Time Trap

I may have gone to far with this one but the scotch is talking right now and I think it was funny and also that is what came to mind in that shot of the ships moving so it counts!

TOS (and TASs) Sex Scoreboard Yes a score (but not what you think) Kirk 12 Chekov 4 Spock 4 Bones 4 Scottie 2 Uhura 1 Extras: Enterprise 2 new +1 So with an Orion woman you would expect sex big time. With a Klingon woman you would expect sex big time (with biting). However, the score is by the Enterprise. This is the second score the ship has in TAS. It was almost porn (or really it was computer porn) when the Enterprise gave the Hi-yo silver doggy style to the Klingon Battle Cruiser. That was a full mounting using a strap on by the ole girl. I guess if the Klingon ship is a "he" (in ship terms) then this would be a pegging .

Pretty solid concept. Some elements of it remind me of the Voyager game Elite Force, though the people stuck in this "starship graveyard" were decidedly more cooperative. There was some cooperation in the game though, but ultimately it's a first person shooter, so you need someone to shoot. Kor just felt like a generic klingon here. This didn't hit the same as Sarek or Mudd or even Cyrano Jones in regards to making you think back to TOS. Good episode, and the society they formed is Trek to it's core. If nothing else it's great to see that all these different species that we've seen as aggressors (klingons, romulans, gorn) can put aside their differences and build something together. Proof of concept for a future peace in the wider galaxy perhaps.

The Gore said screw it in 50 years they make us all mindless animals anyhow

Is that an Ewok or a Teddy Bear at the table..? McCoy "a teddy bear..."

Lower decks would have been fine if they would have just said; "Hey this is just a fun show trying to capitalize on the success of Rick and Morty and its just going to be a silly somewhat parody show that is not cannon." Instead they try to make it fit in universe but then have situations that would be totally unacceptable in Star Fleet, if it was real Star Trek half of the characters would have been up on court martial charges before halfway through the first season. Given how much I have been loving Strange New Worlds I'm a little apprehensive about the upcoming cross over with Lower Decks.

Thanks, I enjoyed this episode. It's interesting how few of them I remember even though I know I saw them all multiple times when I was a kid. There are just a few that stand out for me.

I tried it a couple of time. Just couldn't stomach it. The only series in the entire franchise I find unwatchable.

StealthMomo

LOL. Thank you for that

Xerius is a Romulan, not a Vulcan. However,"S" naming pattern of Vulcan males is broken in the first movie with the introduction of Xon. The Elysian Council consists of; Orion, Romulan, Klingon, Kizinti (who you will be meeting VERY soon), Andorian, I believe the ant-like alien is supposed to be a Tholian (but I am not certain as they should be depicted as more crystalline), Phylosian, Argonian, Vulcan, Tellarite, Human, and Gorn. It IS a shame that they couldn't get John Colicos to voice Kor. It is going to be a (long) while, but you WILL eventually get to see Kor again in live action. Season 2 Episode 19 of Deep Space Nine "Blood Oath" brings together all three of the TOS Klingons, Kor (Errand of Mercy), Koloth (Trouble With Tribbles) and Kang (Day of the Dove) all played by the original actors John Colicos, William Campbell, and Michael Ansara. In a wonderful and satisfying tale I KNOW you guys will absolutely love. Look forward to it.

Like some other Trek shows, it starts out pretty rough. The early episodes are like they were trying too hard to be Rick and Morty instead of their own thing. If you're ever inclined to give it another shot, try skipping to episode 6. That's about where it finds its own voice. If you still don't like it, then yeah, it's not for you.

Jeff Cornell

The Gorn was going to speak but by the time he moved to do it the episode was over

AzoriusMage

Yeah I tried watching it and it was just not funny enough to keep coming back

AzoriusMage

Kor will return quite a few more times, but I won't tell you when and where hehe

Fireworks and explosives contain their own oxygen in their chemical mixture so they don't need any air to work... that's actually exactly what makes them so dangerous ;) And yes I decided to play the know-it-all since I spent my conscript time as a clerk at an EOD school (explosive ordnance disposal) so I'll claim I'm qualified enough lol

Andreas Schmitt

They stole the story for this one from a 1972 issue of the STAR TREK comic book.

I enjoy Lower Decks, but it's definitely not for everyone. As an overtly comedic show set in the Star Trek universe, it runs the risk of coming across as a mockery. And there is some of that; it does poke fun at some of the sillier tropes of the franchise. But overall I'd say the show is what you would get if someone living in the Star Trek universe decided to produce a sitcom about young starfleet officers, in that it has exaggerated personalities and situations for the sake of comedy, but still clearly takes place in the same world. Basically, Lower Decks is to Star Trek what M*A*S*H is to the actual Korean War.

Jeff Cornell

Sometime around 1975, I think it was 1975-1988, they had the first Star Trek convention... and they were expecting a few hundred people, maybe a couple thousands... Ended up being a packed venue with, I want to say 10 or 20 thousand people. Syndication really gave Star Trek a second life. I'd like to think TAS at least played a small part in that.

Steven Johnson

So marks the end of disc two of my DVD set. This was the first episode of TAS I ever saw at the behest of my friend. It's a little "basic" but its really cool to see the old races as part of the council. The Gorn just don't get much love after Arena. Mostly in the starfleet Command/Academy games, and some books. Kor is the first Klingon we met all the way back in Errand of Mercy. It's such a shame they couldn't get Jon Colicos to come back and do the voice. His speaking voice is so distinct. I always laugh at Nichelle Nichols has to talk to herself. She's doing both of the female guests this episode, so she's literally talking to herself. I feel bad for the old cast members as they had to do a lot of characters... How much can you change your voice? James Doohan is the most successful up to this point for varying his voices.

Steven Johnson

In this episode Kor was voiced by James Doohan. The leader, Xerius was a Romulan. It was nice seeing an Orion, a Romulan, Gorn, Klingons etc all together and I agree that they could have explored that concept more.

Dion James Pitman

I thought this was an imaginative and memorable episode.

Mateo Latosa

I'm curious to see what you thought of this one tonight! This was a memorable one for me as a kid because of the appearance of the SS Bonaventure. I rewatched it last week and it still seemed like an OK episode. There's a Star Trek Voyager episode that's almost identical!
