We are now watching off the DVD and this two-parter is shown as a "special presentation" episode, so that is how we watched it, but a sync is inserted where episode 20 starts as well as a sync every 25 minutes or so.

This one is really hard to sync up with Prime

“Don’t do the thing!” “I’m going to do the thing!”

Living Legend was the pinnacle of the series, imo. I agree this 2-parter was probably the most disjointed of all of them. There are some potential Easter eggs laid here, like Terra and the Eastern Alliance. It's too bad the show ended after this 1st season. As for Baltar, we will see him again as well as those Eastern Alliance guys.

That's the one!

That’s fair but it seemed so on the nose “hey don’t go in there you’ll get lost!” *walks in*

There was a good reason for Starbuck to go down in the archive, since their mission was to find information that could lead to Earth. Why he didn’t go off and get breathing gear first, I guess, is explained away by his established character of being rash and impulsive (which he alluded to back on the Galactica, just so you wouldn’t miss it).

🎶 "The year is 1987 and NASA launches the last of America's deep space probes. In a freak mishap, Ranger 3 and its Captain William Buck Rogers are blown out of their trajectory into an orbit which freezes his life support systems and returns him to Earth 500 years later"... 🎶 BUCK ROGERS 2491 🎶

Brad Barter

This ship they pick up in the first part was originally used as Buck Rogers space shuttle in the Buck Rogers movie which then became a TV series. Both the life-size and the filming model were repainted and redressed for use on Galactica. Vice versa, Buck Rogers also used a lot of ships from Battlestar since both shows shared the same effects group and were created by Glen Larson.

By the way, these are all the original effects. The discs may be digitally remastered, but they’ve never remade any special effects as they did with Star Trek. …. Oh yeah, and this is the last we’ll see of Athena, or Boxey - or any other kids in the show. Michael’s daughter was played by Lorne Greene’s daughter Gillian, who’s now married to Sam Raimi. Sarah’s kids were all played by Glen Larson’s kids.

The original broadcast was as seen on the DVD. When it was split into two episodes later, they moved the Eastern Alliance scene up to make it a cliffhanger for part 1.

I also recognised them from being used in Buck Rogers they were used for New Chicago

I never really cared for this episode(s) however it is an integral part of three previous storylines coming together in the next episode and that episode is one of my favourites of the entire classic BSG story ark. I don't want to give anymore info about it but am certain you two will not only enjoy it but will cheer at least once during it. In today's episode the actor who played Michael - Randolph Mantooth (at least they have names we use on Earth in our timeline and use minutes not centons) was famous prior to this for playing Fireman/Paramedic Johnny Gage on a show that first introduced Paramedics called EMERGENCY! to the world as they were new in the early 70s as before that there were only ambulance technicians who could only perform basic CPR not life saving procedures with a direct phone line to an Emergency Room Doctor talking them through what to do. It was an exciting TV series that pushed boundaries and paved the way for shows like ER. It ran for 6 seasons had numerous famous guest stars including a young John Travolta. I have all 6 seasons on DVD and watch it from time to time. This Battlestar Galactica episode was after their shows run was completed.

Weird. The first scene with the Eastern Alliance was the last scene of episode 19 when watching it as two episodes. The remaster must have moved it to be part of episode 20.

Those elaborate buildings on Paradeen were the ruins of Expo ‘67, the Montreal World’s Fair. … Part 2 was indeed a backdoor pilot, much like “Assignment Earth,” in case they needed to come up with a cheaper replacement series. … If Sire Geller from the Council sounded familiar, it’s because he was also the voice of the Cylon commander Specter way back in “The Young Lords.”

This was a special 2-hour episode which was aired in the usual Sunday night timeslot and probably starting an hour earlier. I think you can still find the promo for it on YouTube.
