UNCUT REACTION - Star Trek TAS ep6 - The Survivor

Comments

TOS (and TASs) Sex Scoreboard Non main crew boinking Kirk 12 Chekov 4 Spock 4 Bones 3 Scottie 1 Uhura 1 Extras: Anne and Carter together. Of course this love affair spawned a new porn channel - The Tenacles on porn hub

It's a step up from the last episode for sure. The vendorians are a pretty cool concept that would have been near impossible in live action at the time. Kind of a sweet story at the end with Anne and the alien. It was frustrating when she choked and let him go though. Not a good look letting her feelings get in the way of her job, especially when she knows it's not Winston. Also cool to get the new character M'Ress, which also marks the first appearance of the Caitian species in trek. Overall, it's an alright episode.

Timothy Nikiforovs

One of several TAS episodes that would have felt quite at home in live action.

Mark Chrisco

Left him with nothing but his bones. LoL. I'm not the biggest fan of the Kelvin universe but love Karl Urban and that line.

Tristan Rose

I always heard that it was an early planned idea for Season 4 of TOS if they got it. The Enterprise would pick up some people & Kirk would start flirting with a woman. McCoy would get pissed off & reveal that it was his daughter & explain that his wife divorced him & he then ran off to join Starfleet to get away from it all

Retro Tom

I'm loving you guys watching TAS. It's why I finally ponied up for Patreon.

Mike Rogers

Well, that was a good one, I really enjoyed it. I have basically no memory of it so it sure didn't make a big impression on me the first time I saw it. I loved the design of the alien. Thanks for the reaction!

The mustachioed man is Lt. Kyle. It's supposed to the same guy as Chief Kyle from TOS.

Bret Kay

Hahah we’ll see

Josh (Target Audience)

Always makes me cringe when the female officer lets her emotions get in the way

Just wondering... at the end, are you guys going to do a "Top 5," or a "Top 5 Other than Yesteryear"? Because the latter might be a little more suspenseful! 😉

James H

I did.

McCoy's daughter was originally meant to have been in The Way to Eden (or "Joanna" as the episode was titled in the draft script) as one of the space hippies in place of Irina. Her exclusion from that episode is likely one of the reasons why DC Fontana took her name off of it. I believe it was in the writers guide for The Original Series that McCoy had a daughter and had been divorced but it was never mentioned...until we now get a mention of Joanna in the Animated series. Lt Nored was voiced by Nichelle Nichols, while Carter Winston was voiced by guest star Ted Knight. At the time Ted Knight was well-known for his role on The Mary Tyler Moore Show, one of the most popular sitcoms at the time. At times, some of the scenes between Nored and Carter Winston do play out a bit like a bad soap opera (not saying all soap opera is bad though, just that this is what a bad one looks like). Particularly the scene where he just dumps her.

Dion James Pitman

The episode that you mention was actually produced...as season three's The Way to Eden. Joanna would have been one of the space hippies in place of Irina.

Dion James Pitman

I believe I noticed it once

Josh (Target Audience)

Did you notice in the last episode that reused transporter tache guy on some shots in transporter room when it was meant to be Scotty in the room

I'm not convinced you guys recorded these at separate times. I think you just changed clothes and adjusted the lamp. RE: Bones' daughter. There was a screenplay for Star Trek TOS that was never produced where we were going to meet Joanna McCoy. His daughter. I think that was another D.C. Fontana episode. If I remember right it was an unproduced Season 2 episode. If they did this in TOS the alien creature would have been blinking lights or something. Trying to build an articulating animatronic would have been wayyy too cost prohibitive. Especially with the optical effects. Back in the day there was a thread on TrekBBS which tried to recreate shots from TAS using elements from TOS and other 60s TV shows like Lost in Space. They had a shot of M'ress in live action. Creative stuff dorks get up to when left to their own devices, eh? On the DVD set I have this is the end of the first disc. What's Alex drinkin'... Whiskey? Scotch? I'm kidding.
