He's also Captain Sisco's dad in the famed DS9 of Star Trek

This was definitely one of the best episodes! Apollos solution was intense timing and all very risky but a good one. Btw DNA testing on the gun can easily be wiped off, so that's not a flaw in writing, that's perfectly valid. Also video footage of the crime can be non existent since the killer can plan his move at camera Blindspot, he can magnetically wipe the footage, etc etc. so everything of this mystery dilemma is all valid and why it's a classic

Honestly I don't think most people even remember the show existing. I too suffered with the great disappointment of that series except for of course the last episode. There are actually interesting things situations in the show.. Also there are a lot of good guest stars throughout the series.

While I understand this point of view, I don’t really share it. Everything I loved about Galactica was absent from Galactica 1980 (except for the last episode). When people insult the original series as campy or a kids’ show, they’re usually conflating it with 1980. All these years later I’m like Lady Macbeth, still trying to scrub the stain of disappointment out of my memory. 😂

I really hope you are considering continuing with Galactica 1980 just to see the extreme difference in the two shows once they get to Earth. Sometimes it's called a second season but it really is not, BSG was canceled. They tried to bring the show back but they did it on a very restricted budget. It was a trial to see if they would be able to do a series but it was not successful. It's only about half a season as it was a mid-season replacement. It was done on the cheap but it does have a some interesting moments as well as some hilarious aspects you might not expect.

The Rising Star is supposed to be like a luxury liner ship. It is used as the entertainment hub of the fleet. Because Starbuck was an orphan he was somewhat raised by Commander Adamas' family. Athena and Starbuck have known each other for a long time and she's had a crush on him since they were young. Cassiopeia does seem to have won over Starbuck's heart as the series progresses. Although y'all were equating the interviews to celebrity trials I think it was more like when you see national or even local news. When there's a big trial you do see interviews sometimes or statements from the opposing sides.

Two of the three actors seen as guests stars in this episode have starred in other science fiction shows. First (Brock Peters) who played the Opposer will play two different roles in Star Trek. One character in two of the TOS movies (Star Trek IV and VI) as well as a relative of a primary character on Star Trek Deep Space Nine. The actor who played Ortega (Frank Ashmore) would go on to play two different alien "Visitor" characters on V. He played Martin in V The Mini-Series and V The Final Battle and then played an identical twin character named Philip in V The Series. The actor who played Karibdis (Lyman Ward) would go on to play Tom Bueller the Father in Ferris Bueller's Day Off as well as at the beginning of Planes, Trains and Automobiles as a fellow colleague of Steve Martin's character who famously tells him regarding catching the early flight at 6 pm to get home for Thanksgiving, "you'll never make the six!" It's only now I realize he was in two of late great writer, director, producer John Hughes films.

Brad Barter

Brock Peters also played Darth Vader in NPR's Star Wars audio drama. He's also in To Kill a Mockingbird it's great dramatic actor and it appeared in many things.

Amazingly, this episode was written in two days. The two main writers submitted a concept on a Wednesday and were told to come up with a draft screenplay by Friday... that was the pace the show was sometimes made at. You may have noticed in the editing process that Karibdis (a/k/a Pallon) is seen at the beginning of the episode. He's the waiter serving Adama and Tigh who tells them he's about to go off shift. It does seem unethical for the Opposer to talk up his case in the media - but do they still have a bar association for him to get in trouble with? Maybe he's it! ... We'll see that actor (Brock Peters) later in Star Trek.
