"Jacked in" was used, but apparently mostly in science fiction literature. It was used in William Gibson's 1984 cyberpunk novel "Neuromancer". The term referred to someone physically plugging their brain into a computer to access the Matrix, also called Cyberspace, which was Gibson's futuristic virtual-reality version of the internet. The novel was written before the world wide web was invented. I read it decades ago. I remember it being somewhat weird and hard to follow.

Nor did anyone ever say "jacked in." Maybe "plugged in," but never "jacked in."

Yeah, I'm with other commenters.. this one is so much better than remember it. And really, any time Willow can get some shine, I'm all for it. Alyson Hannigan is a force in this series. The minute tears form in her eyes, I'm all in. Glad you guys liked it. I can't wait to see 109 through your eyes, it's gonna be something. lol

I was 24 when this came out working as a software dev and yes certainly would have been cringe to me even then.

The terminology, the computer "speaking" to you, saying what you are typing, sparks and smoke from the computer... As I said above - all cringe to us "technophiles" back then as it was antiquated for the time. However, I can see that in 2023, one doesn't have the benefit of knowing when things were outdated. Tech was moving fast in the 90s. '94 stuff was crazy outdated by '97.

Rewatching these famously "bad" episodes with you guys is making me rethink how bad they actually were. This one was better than I remembered.

This episode was better than I remembered. I've been enjoying re-watching this show with the two of you and I hope you decide to continue beyond the first season. It's definitely true that the main arc episodes improve over time, especially since the next couple of seasons introduce a few great new characters that feature heavily in these episodes.

Yes that is how scanners worked when flatbed ones were not common. Also nobody said e-letter

Definitely would be fun to do more Buffy in between Star Treks.

James H

My favorite episode of season one.

Robia LaMorte (Miss Calendar) appeared in 30+ music videos and was featured in Prince videos. She, as half of Diamonds and Pearls, was Prince's spokesperson.

There are only 10 bad episodes of 144. Many consider this to be one of them (S1 & S2 have 6 of the 10). Interestingly, anyone involved in computers back then thought this episode was cringe as we thought we had moved on beyond their thoughts on computers. The redemption of this ep is that we get Miss Calendar.
