PATREON EXCLUSIVE UNCUT REACTION - Battlestar Galactica (1978) Episode 9 - The Gun on Ice Planet Zero Pt.2

Our last Battlestar Galactica 1978 reaction of the month finishes off this 2-part episode! In part one, there was a whole bunch of set up, and it ended right as things started to pick up. Does that mean part 2 will be all action and pay off? Let's find out!

Now that we have started Season 3 of Star Trek, we plan on doing an episode of BSG every other week. Of course, there could be months in the future where we end up having time to do more episodes that month, but typically, expect an episode every other week moving forward.

Thank you for being a Patron & enjoy!

I believe in the books he gets cybernetic replacements for his leg

The female clone was played by Britt Ekland who might be most famous as for playing the Bond girl in 1974 movie The Man with the Golden Gun. She was married to famous comedy actor Peter Sellers (born 1925) and drummer Slim Jim Phantom (born 1961) and was the girlfriend of rock star Rod Stewart. Charlize Theron portrayed her in the movie The Life and Death of Peter Sellers.

The old man who played the clones Father Creator was in the first Robocop movie as the OCP Chairman being presented both ED-209 (failed badly)"Dick! I'm very disappointed in you!" And Robocop. He was also Colonel Cochrane in the one without Michael Meyers Halloween III Season of the Witch.

Brad Barter

This episode, along with the last two parter and the three part pilot were all intended to be movie of the week specials. The first three hour episode was shown as a three hour movie. The ratings were so high that ABC wanted to go immediately to series as opposed to just occasional movie specials, so the Lost planet of the gods and this one were cut into two part episodes to give the production team time to get episodes made for weekly broadcast. That's why they were a bit slow in part one and picking up in part two. They were never intended to be split into two parts.

Yeah, this two-parter is low on my list, apart from the Baltar scenes (which were added in later). It was early in production order and they were still finding their footing.

In the scene with Baltar walking in a circle, he has a noticeable limp. He's meant to be walking off the injury he suffered when he was trapped under the stone pillar in Lost Planet of the Gods.

I found this episode very ho-hum. I think the set-up was better than the pay-off, although I like the scene where the convict allows himself to be blown up with some cyclons. I agree that some of the sets in this episode were pretty good. John Colicos (Baltar) was also in Star Trek TOS. He played Kor, the first Klingon, in Errand of Mercy. He is also Canadian and trained as a Shakespearean actor, like William Shatner and Lorne Greene.
