EARLY ACCESS - First Time Watching Star Trek The Original Series - S2E7 Catspaw | REACTION

I always wished they had done that more often: leave Uhura in command. According to 'Trek producers, she was fourth in command - under Kirk, Spock and Scotty. In several TOS Season One episodes (the first ones), we saw Uhura wearing a gold command uniform -- apparently she was in Command College training, so she would have already been 4th in command during Season Two and beyond. If Kirk assigned others to take over the bridge (at various times) instead of her, there would have been a reason written into the back-story such as she was already in that command slot aboard ship, and the others were being trained in that line as well, thus she wasn't seen being placed into command during TOS. But, the TAS (The Animated Series) episode "The Lorelei Signal" saw her take command in an emergency situation, with Nichelle Nichols (and the rest of TOS cast) voicing their animated character roles. Here's an online feature about that TAS episode: https://www.cbr.com/star-trek-uhura-command-enterprise-nichelle-nichols/

Heavy duty censorship would never allow anything to freaky. This predates the first PROPER zombie movie Night Of The Living Dead. It goes to show how tv changed from 1967 to 1988 when TNG showed a shockingly gory scene in an episode (I won’t say what but you’ll know it when you see it).

Yes, I was trying to not give it away as a spoler though.

They should have given command of the ship to Uhura instead of bringing in an almost nobody like the DeSalle character. I guess Roddenberry was still stinging from the negative feedback he got on the 1st pilot, The Cage, about having a female in command of the ship while the captain is away.

I was seven years old when this episode came out, and those first few moments -- the threatening voice coming from Jackson's dead mouth, and the Three Witches, scared the sh*t out of me, and I laughed out loud when Spock said, "Very bad poetry, Captain."

The concept of the aliens who haven't experienced sensation will be revisited in another episode in Season 2, a better one. But next time, I think you're going to like Episode 8, which is called . . . "I, Mudd."

Ken Schneyer

Just wait for The Trouble with Tribbles

Collin Freeman

I really do not like this episode much at all. I thought it was season 3. There is a return I think you will like next episode. Not much of a spoiler since the title gives it away.

"I need to see Scotty in a bar fight". Yes! That would be great. Yo would have to have the right reason for him to fight.
