EARLY ACCESS - First Time Watching Star Trek The Original Series - TOP 5 Episodes of Season 1

Here is our Season 1 recap of Star Trek The Original Series! It will be public on our YouTube tomorrow, but you can watch it now!

This is a longer in-person discussion video where we talk about our favorite episodes, characters, moments & more from Season 1 of TOS. We also talk about a few other topics as well.

This is the first video of a new type of series we are considering doing where occasionally we get together and discuss things like this. Won't always be Star Trek obviously, but usually will be movie/TV related, as well as other topics. So please give us your feedback on the format and what type of discussions you would like to see in the future!

Uncut reactions and early access to the rest of BARRY coming this week, as well as another special in-person video we filmed this past weekend. Then we start Season 2 of Star Trek TOS!

Enjoy!

One of my personal favorites neither of you mentioned is Errand of Mercy, the one where the Klingons show up the first time. I like the dynamics between Kor and Kirk a lot, there's really not enough space for these two big personalities on the screen xD You were smarter than me, but when I watched it the very first time, the resolution of why the Organians are so ... "Meh, ah well, whatever...", it surprised me :) And even with knowing it now, I still like the episode very much.

Noted! Thanks for the heads up

Btw Josh, Seinfeld has a Star Trek 2 & 3 spoiler episode called The Foundation from season 8 episode 1. If you truly know very little of those movies avoid that Seinfeld episode at all cost. The spoilers are significant.

Also - of - Firelfly - - great choice - - along with B5 is the best SciFi series since TOS (in my opinion). Firefly is definitely better suited for your format. One season, AND has that TOS stand alone episode feel - not as much as TOS but you usually get a conclusion at the end of each episode. All three of these have great character development and compelling stories. Star Trek was sold to the network as "Wagon Train" to the stars - Firefly really could be a western...

Fantastic content guys! Very interesting as to why you liked or disliked a specific episode. I agree with your dislikes(miri & G7) - surprised by apathy toward Balance of Terror - to each his own. It is heart warming to see that TOS stands the test of time and generations. It was so much a part of the "times"(70s for me) - it really defined my child-hood. All my friends talked Star Trek, played Star Trek, and occasionally dressed Star Trek - not something you did litely (you became a target for bullying). Times have really changed - SciFi is mainstream and you even have cosplay. The popularity of Star Wars made SciFi cool for the first time - it is the one thing Star Trek couldn't do....

Great discussion. Feel the same way about theaters now. For the first time in my life, I chose not to see a Star Wars movie in theaters with Solo but I did go for EP 9 (People actually booed at the end of that movie). Stopped going for Alien after Prometheus. Adios Terminator. A new 4th J J Trek is coming out in Dec. 2023. As long as it’s not getting trashed in the reviews, it will be the last longtime franchise I will still see in theaters. After you finish all 3 seasons, maybe you could check out the TV series bloopers. Firefly is a solid pick. It’s short and sweet plus their 2005 movie Serenity. Let’s see if season 2 has some episodes that will knock out some season 1 episodes for your ultimate top Trek episodes. Hope you guys enjoy Galaxy Quest.

Love hearing your thoughts and seeing you interact in person. For many years, Kirk was my favorite character, but now, my favorite character is McCoy. Spock is an obvious choice, but I am more impressed by Leonard Nimoy's acting and his portrayal than I am of the character.
