I’ve been playing Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous and its become a bit of an obsession over the last few weeks.
I had made my character basically a cavalry version of Jackal, but then found out my romanceable companion only liked women so I had to switch genders (dumb). But I really like Sari, she’s been fun. I also really enjoy this game, its so crazy in-depth compared to Baldur’s Gate 3, but in a very specific way: choosing classes, backstories, etc. You can get really specific. But I also like how your race alters a lot of dialogue. Playing a Tiefling in Baldur’s Gate 3 barely gets any mention, but its mentioned constantly in WOTR, and seems to even have a much bigger effect where certain peoples will ally to my cause because I’m a Tiefling. Its really interesting and I love it. I also love the companions (well, most of them) and their silly banter. BG3 really toned down their companions since Early Access (and made them more “likeable”), but WOTR companion banter can get pretty vicious and I’m 100% here for it (Regill and Greybor specifically lmao).
Ugh I could talk about them forever, BUT I’m gonna go draw them instead lol. I highly recommend this game though. I will say that obviously the developers didn’t have the same budget as Larian, there’s no mo-cap, the graphics aren’t nearly the same as BG3, but I still love the vibe, the gameplay, and the companions. There’s also an overarching “Crusader Mode” where you build armies to fight demons on the world map, which is cool (I did have to eventually turn it to AutoMode because I was still learning the game and it was all too overwhelming, but in my next playthrough I’ll get into it for sure).
