The Usual Suspects (1995)

Comments

Swimming with Sharks is so often overlooked. Great movie!

Octavia

I didn't see this before but was spoiled because of that parody movie hehe

Jenny Lee Villanueva

3 Kevin Spacey movies stand out for me.... The Usual Suspects, The Negotiator, and Swimming With Sharks. If you get the chance... check em out.

Keith Duperreault

Yeah one of the best twist endings of the last 30 years. The whole Keaton being Keyser just didn't fit to how we saw the story. But Verbal being Keyser never entered my mind. You do see Verbal looking intently around the room before Agent Kujan comes in. I was convinced it was Kobayashi. Always love rewatching this one, especially with people who haven't seen it.

Marty McGee

very true, what a performance by Kevin Spacey.

Kamanda Hickey

Keyser Soze is real. He didn't make up the name while he was sitting in the office. Remember the Hungarian guy in the hospital, he mentioned Keyser Soze. And that was not a part of Verbal's story.

Ninaofthe90s

The story he told was true, he just left out that he was the one getting these jobs together, it was him that rigged up that line up to get them all together, it was him that was behind the big job at the end. He used those guys to kill the men on the boat and get to the man who could identify him. Keyser Soze is real, it is him... Verbal

I first watched this movie as a teenager during the 90s and I remember the first time I saw it well. As soon as the twist was revealed I just laughed and laughed, it was so brilliantly done! Utterly fantastic. And shout out to the score - I love the music in this film!

Laura Dawson

Something that you notice when you watch the movie for the second or third time; when Agent Kujan is behind him, going on and on about stupid Verbal is, Keyser is literally SMILING to himself, he is having FUN with this, and then, the second that Kujan moves in front of him, the smile is gone and he's back to meek Verbal. Same with the line-up, when Verbal says the 'Give me the keys'-line, the look in his eyes? That is pure Keyser! So good!!!

Helen Nordin

I love that scene and I guess it makes sense now reading this. I always thought that they look like they were laughing for real.

Kamanda Hickey

More than the reveal itself, the way Verbal walk switched at the end is one of the most memorable moment in Cinema I think. It's so beautifully done!

Kamanda Hickey

Fun fact; the line-up, where they each had to say the 'Give me the keys'-line, they had done that scene over and over, it was late, everyone was tired, so this isn't even the characters, that scene is basically just the actors fucking around, having fun, just being tired and ridiculous, and it ended up being the one they used, and the one that people still talk about, to this day.

Helen Nordin

Talk about your unreliable narrator...and then there's the fake twist (Keaton) followed by the real twist (Kint) - that's how you do it.

Michael Celia

I can't forget how I felt when the end surprised me so, 30 years ago as a teenager at the movies. It was one of the movies that made me fall in love with good storytelling and movies in general. The name Keyser Soze gets in your brain forever. I'm very happy you didn't see it coming either 😀

MarySoul

I’m glad no one spoiled the twist at the end. In my opinion it’s the greatest twist ending of all time
