Barnacle plant update

The barnacle plant enemies for the cave are almost ready to bring into the game. I had lost a lot of motivation to get this one ready because we've had so many problems getting the movement resolved. Well, I finally changed strategies and I'm hiring a professional freelance coder to fix the remaining problems. If that goes well, I'll be switching over to having a paid coder on for as much work as I can possibly manage.

The next build is FINALLY here! This one took a very long time to come together because we had to completely overhaul the movement system. It's not really done, but after all the hassles and challenges we've been hitting I'm looking towards simplifying the movement and gameplay a lot. I don't want to, not really, but being new to game development means it's easy to misjudge the scope of something that seems relatively simple. It's not.

What's Ayla's first Animated sex scene going to be? This is going to be for a stage in the that hasn't been built yet, but it's coming up next. Ancient Priest Character Design

The first NPC design is finished. I haven't created the dialogue window yet but that's one of the next steps to take. This guy is basically here to help drop some exposition, familiarize players with the NPC interaction options, and point Ayla the right direction to get back out of the cave.

First Sketches of the Old Mage

So in the cave area Ayla is going to have to find the way through it, and this old fella is going to be waiting by the exit to kind of guide her out. Not exactly guide, per se, but show that you've actually found the exit. And the idea is that he's been waiting there for a very, VERY long time. It's also going to be the first bit of dialogue exchange with an NPC.

And NO, this is not one of the sexy interactions lol. I hope this one isn't getting any hopes up.

Cretaceous Seas plans for Spring 2022

Today I hired a voice actress for Ayla, which will massively bump up the audio experience. I'm working towards making that VERY worth the time by planning out the NPC interactions for the upcoming stages.

On that same note, without trying to overreach, I'm getting some NPC interactions written for sexy times.

The expanded cave area will be included in the next patch, even though it's incomplete.

Fire test footage

The patreon page now officially updated to only focus on the game development. The tiers have been adjusted according to reflect that, with as few changes as possible other than the removal of the comics. Jungle Dangers will continue to be available through the Secret Stash gumroad store.

Fire

I'm feeling some end of year burn out. Some personal stuff has been overwhelming recently and it's hard to feel my head in the game. Doing some fire effects helped me break out of it. I'd post a gif but my computer isn't being so helpful with video capture right now.

Controls are almost done but still touchy. Updates coming as fast as we can manage.

Jungle Dangers #17, Page 1

Hey guys, we're running behind with the comic again this month but the colorist assures me he'll be able to get everything wrapped up before the new year. We're also still slowly moving forward on the new controls for the game but hit some slow downs even before the holiday season really started. There's not much left to do for Ayla's new motion controls so I expect the next push will come shortly after the new year.  That's when I had planned to get the public demo out.

Walk Cycle Draft (in color)

We're still getting the new motion system integrated into the game and won't have a new push ready yet. I'm happy to report that it's doing the intended job of fixing the various motion bugs and will also give us a chance to introduce new movements/actions more easily. Here are some of the changes we're working on for it.

Walk Cycle Draft

The walk I had in mind for Ayla is closer to the slower, more sensual version on the right (32 frames. It actually had an even more exaggerated hip swing and slightly more deliberation on each step but once I'd animated that out it became clear it wouldn't work for the needs of the game, which needs a very consistent walking speed. So I retimed it and got the 32 frame version you see here. I retimed it once more to fit the standard animation walk cycle pace, a 24 frame loop.

Walk Cycle Starting

Someone recently showed me a walk cycle they're working on and commented that my animation work "made it look easy." As complemented as I was by that, it's not entirely so accurate. I still have to go through the same tedious steps as anyone, I just have a little more practice.

Last Days of Summer

This is coming a little late, seeing as we're pretty well into Autumnal weather already, but I felt like Ayla needed one last day at the beach before ending the season. Plant Concept Animation Test

Here's an early look into how the plant creature will attack, and a VERY rough concept for the vore scene. Ayla will definitely do a little struggling in the stomach pouch before the paralyzing digestive enzymes do their work and she can't fight back. I wanted to focus on the attack and catch parts of the animation so those struggling bits have to wait for now.

The cave are of the game is going to be home to some run creatures, including this barnacle-like plant which will be attached to the cave ceiling. It's probably not going to be part of the public demo but I wanted to at least get some design work down for it. The attachment part of the creature won't be animated, basically being like roots, so I've omitted it from these sketches.
