Star Trek Into Darkness

Comments

I like all 3 of these movies. All to varying degrees, but I do enjoy them all. I'm an old ST fan and have watched all the shows. It all reminds me of watching The Original Series (TOS) with my mom as a kid. Star Trek was the only show she ever would watch reruns of and she did it every time it aired, over and over. I never really consciously thought about it, but that MIGHT be why I enjoy watching anything ST. Haven't found something put out that I hate, but I do have favorites and find all of them have their charms. I just remembered that I still need to watch the new movie Paramount just put out called "Star Trek: Section 31." It's more a direct spin-off of the TV show "Star Trek: Discovery" but they did mention Section 31 in this movie. It's basically Starfeet's Black Ops division. Its the place they blew up in the beginning.

Haven’t seen this movie in ages but rewatching it with you was a lot of fun. Personally, the third movie is actually my favourite in the series, so I‘d love if you got around to it eventually!

Laura Groeneveld

There's a lot of RUNNING into Darkness!

Louis Hung

Hearing how little Rob remembers of The Wrath of Khan, you really need to watch it for the channel, it’s basically a first time watch. Would be great to see the comparison.

Linda Cannarsa

You didn't mention Benedict at all at the end! 😱😯 He's so great, I mean look at that facial expression when he crushes Admiral Marcus' head. 😲😍

Dont know if this is helpful at all but, ive had huge issues with Sync too. Would constantly stop and buffer every couple minutes. What worked for me was setting a vpn to England. For some reason that fixed it completely and all of the content on Sync is watchable now.

This is my favorite of the series of three. The next one is good too. The reason there are no more is because of Anton Yelchin (1989 ‑ 2016 …. Chekov) passed away. They felt that they couldn’t go on. If you watch the next Star Trek, you will see tributes to Anton and Leonard Nimoy in the credits. 😞

omg it just worked - I am NOT kidding, I tried downloading it at least 50 times in the last few months and it never worked, the download always stopped more than halfway through. It was so frustating. But this time it worked all of a sudden, I have no idea why 😂 don't know if it the download works for the other episodes too, but I can wach the first episode of season 2. 😍😍

Ninaofthe90s

You should be able to download them still? Pretty sure they were added to Sync. I know the streaming can be rough for some cause it forces 1080p but the download should help.

Giacchino also scored Dr. Strange, Love and Thunder, the 3 MCU Spiderman movies, the first 3 new Planet of the Apes movies as well as many episodes of Fringe and many other works. Additionally, he directed Werewolf By Night.

As a massive Benedict fan, I'm still sad I can't watch your Sherlock reactions, besides season 1. The streaming player just doesn't work for me from season 2 on. But at least I can watch some movies ❤

Ninaofthe90s

havent finished watching yet so i don't know if you saw the credits but the composer for these is Michael Giacchino who also scored Lost

Linda Cannarsa

Super Brilliant reaction! Keep up the good work! I hope you checkout the Transformers Prime show, it has nothing to do with the movies,

I guess they thought the could get away with Benedict playing Khan because this is an alternate universe Star Trek. But I wish they’d made him a completely new villain we hadn’t seen before. Btw, I loved the first season of SNW. It was most like the TOS of any spin off so far. But I thought season 2 was a pretty crushing disappointment tbh. 😬

So cool!

"This is why we need to stop Elon Musk." Ah yes. Too true.

I think how much you enjoy the JJ Abrams Trek films is directly proportional to how much of the TOS and their associated films you dug into during your formative years. I grew up on TOS and TOS films so I think this movie is bordering on bad in relation to how good of a "Star Trek" film it is but it is still entertaining on its own merits. The cast is undeniably good and I love each of them in their role. As much as I love Cumberbatch in this role I wish he wasn't Khan. If they were going to bring back that character it would have been nice to see them finally cast a south asian actor in that part since I think that is what they was the intent back in the TOS: "Space Seed". It would have been kinda rad if they had made Cumberbatch's character 'Joachim' from Wrath of Khan. The only dude on Khan's crew to have voice lines in that movie. It would also have been a cool way to show that even one of Khan's followers was powerful enough to pull off all what showed in this movie. Then they would still be able to dust off Khan for a later film, now it is kind of ruined. I actually like the next one more than this one and I think it is the last we will see of this cast. Anton had that tragic death and the rest of them have pretty bust careers at this point. Now I have Star Trek Strange New Worlds for Trek fix and that is some solid Trek.

I saw this 3 times in the theater. Love Marcus's ship's sound in warp. That evil hum is just...evil :D .

Even though it doesn't pack the same emotional punch, I still enjoyed getting the reverse sacrifice scene between Spock & Kirk. No one yells KHAN!!! like Shatner, of course. I wept during the end of the original Wrath of Khan. I have been, and always shall be, your friend. Gah. This cast really embodies the spirit of the characters well though. Regardless of any nitpicks, it's lively fun. Makes me smile. That's enough.

I almost forget how bad this is until I see parts of it again. The writers had a Hollywood wide obsession with 'magic blood' story elements they did in multiple movies. And JJ Abrams's pre release "no he DEFINITELY is not Khan" lie. This was a weird time for movies and marketing

trlb

"this is why we need to stop Elon Musk" 🤣🤣🤣

Bradley Weeks

This was a really good sequel, even though I would have preferred that they hadn’t rehashed the Khan storyline. Benedict still made a good villain though. Lol at Rob’s “crapadoodledandy” reaction to the reveal of Benedict’s true character. 😅 Personally, I wouldn’t bother with the 3rd movie in this series. It was a significant let down.

Jan T

I hope ya’ll enjoy it. No hate to those who do, but for me it really misses the mark. I liked the first one (lens flares aside), but this one felt rewritten to death. In its heart is a decent sequel highlighting a story from the OG series and films, but it is bloated with plot holes and story breakers. Poorly thought out magic bullets and on the nose fan service. Weakens what could have been a decent film. Third one is a bit better. Just my thoughts.

Karl Urban is so good as Bones. Ten years before he got the Star Trek gig - I worked on a terrible, terrible, low budget Pilot that he was doing. There was a Star Trek connection even then. I don't usually post this, but for the love of Trek, why not. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img922/906/9BHl4Z.jpg
