Jessica Jones S1E8+9 AKA WWJD - AKA Sin Bin

Comments

Because the Pink Panther was a parody of the Noir film genre, riffing on all of its tropes. Jessica Jones is a modern noir tv show with superhero elements.

Ghost Mom

I don't know why but when i hear the start of the intro for this show it reminds me of the pink panther somehow or maybe its just me

Smilebird9

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I agree about Hogart, what a piece of work (but I still looove Carrie Ann Moss though πŸ‘€πŸ˜‚).

Actually fly. She has that ability, but seemed to have poor control. Since she's not invulnerable, it's probably a good idea to not do it much. Only in extreme circumstances. They do say, a couple of times, that she can fly. Trish says it first and she said something like, "It's more like controlled falling," or something to that effect. I didn't read the "Alias" comic, but I did see a panel with young Jessica in the white and pink/purple "Jewel" costume that you see Trish made her on the show, flying with a big smile on her face. Obviously, before Kilgrave got to her. Apparently she couldn't stick the landings and was in danger of hurting herself, so that (and Kilgrave's trauma to her) made her unwilling to really keep trying to do it. I didn't notice the 1st time viewing, but when she was carrying Kilgrave out of the house, she was looking up for a clear opening and just kept seeing trees and then she saw an opening and that's when Simpson tackled her. I thought she was looking for something (or someone) in the trees. πŸ˜†

Does she actually fly or is it just a super jump?

James

Netflix didn't have the budget to show Jessica fly, but she can fly, just not very well, which is why she sticks to jumping most of the time. She tended to crash when flying. πŸ˜‚

Kilgrave's influence controls people for a time. He can't give any new orders while he's unconscious and the people controlled by him already have to wait until the 10-12 hours runs out before they can ignore his last order to them. It doesn't just stop when he's unconscious. They said it was time and distance from him. The distance is so he can't give new instructions to them, the time is for the current control to wear off. So, if he ordered people to protect him, they would, even while he's unconscious, until the 10-12 hours runs out. The anesthesia blocks his power from controlling anyone with new instructions. They're going on what they (mostly Jessica) can piece together about how his power works.

Thadman

By the way, Kilgrave doesn't wipe peoples' minds. He controls them. They remember everything, as seen by the support group explaining everything that he made them do. This is where all the trauma and PTSD comes from, the knowing what they did and having no control.

Thadman

Oh don't think I'm complaining! This is more just out of curiosity it doesn't ruin my enjoyment and it's very minor and I was just curious if I had missed something

Cody Taylor

Jessica was going by what she learned from his accident... that Kilgrave was adamant about not being anesthetized. Trying anything else... she couldn't be as sure about. But she knew about the anesthesia, such as Sufentanil or Propofol. And unlike with regular sleep, the drug more deeply shuts down certain brain functions. Also... why not just accept it... like with many other shows.

Octavia

But why Anesthetized if it doesn't bring people out? I haven't had time to go back into the episode to see the explanation of why it had to be anesthesized.

Cody Taylor

Besides regular sleeping pills not being fast acting.... They needed him not just out, but anesthetized. And Kilgrave's influence fades after 12-24 hours... or after the comnand is completed.

Octavia

If that's true why the big chase for the special drug to knock him out? If she just drugs him with regular sleeping pills he can't influence anyone while asleep.

Cody Taylor

I believe it's because a victim will not stop until the "task" Kilgrave assigns them is carried out to completion. Putting Kilgrave under only prevents him from influencing any new victims.

Michael Celia

Hey question about "wwjd" and the whole bomb thing. It's that kinda a plothole? Jessica knocked killgrave that's suppose to disable his powers so why would the neighbor lady still blow herself up?

Cody Taylor

David Tennant is just so brilliant as Kilgrave. Easily the most corrupting and terrifying power of a villain. Imagine if Thanos had this power? But you can also see why Tennant is one of the most beloved incarnations of The Doctor. As Kilgrave... he manages to be as compelling as repelling.

Octavia

oh my, for the first time I might have to go on Disney and watch the next episode alone πŸ˜‚. I neeeeed to see lol

Country Mike n The Boys

Shit hits the fan from here on out πŸ˜‚. Cant wait to see your reactions.

Ahmad Feggins

Excellent show! Jessica’s motives are always for the greater good, but her trust issues when working with others are understandable. There’s no doubt Kilgrave had a horrible, damaging childhood, and what we do with broken, dangerous people will always be a complex question, but protecting the innocent must always be the overriding priority.

Jan T

I honestly don't know how I feel about Kilgrave's parents. Sure, they may have been trying to save their son's life - and could never have known what he would become - but they were relentlessly torturing him in the process. Like Jeff Goldblum said in Jurassic Park, they were "so preoccupied with whether or not they could, that they didn't stop to think if they should."

Michael Celia

Hogarth gotta go as well put her in the ground with Killgrave

James

While I slightly feel bad for the kid that was Kevin. He deserves to suffer horribly, I can only imagine how satisfying it is for a victim of SA and abuse to have their abuser locked in a cell with a button to torture them. God Hogarth is arguably as bad as Killgrave, she is the definition of a narcissist the way she tries to manipulate her ex and makes every situation about herself drives me insane. Looking forward to next week

James

These two episodes are so good, so much happens and then the end of Sin Bin is so bitter sweet. Oh and fuckkk Hogarth πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
