Just saying “Action Movies” means lots of the movies that people suggested have no connection to Christmas at all, and could be seen at any time of the year. I don’t see the point of having a genre based month if the category is going to be made so broad it can include almost anything. We only get Christmas once a year.

Classic, brilliant films that will never see the light of day here. No one is interested. Polar Express with more votes than It’s A Wonderful Life….. just amazing.

Was one of the first action films I remember watching with my dad. The santa clause movies also have my heart. Tim Allan was a 90s comedic genius. Does not get the recognition he deserves 👏🏼 I think there's 3 films and 2 series on disney plus x

Of course, if The Bourne Identity was a Christmas movie, IT would be the quintessential Christmas movie, but there you go. Looking forward to sharing whatever gets chosen with everyone here. October is all horror, so I don't see why December can't be all holiday movies. There's a large variety of 'holiday' movies that cover action. This feels like Christmas is gonna be overrun by straight action.

The only black and white is Schindler's List which came out 3 decades after b&w stopped being common. Artful films about the human condition don't tend to get votes, it's blockbuster/franchise type stuff from the last 25 years. You just have to hope they use one of their picks on something that isn't that, if such a thing gets to the poll stage. They tend to have two themes and they'll even it out with their picks so if you think the vote is action heavy I wouldn't worry about it. They want to watch some xmas too.

FYI to those who don't know anime can be very thought provoking and comes in many different genres. Same with animated films like HTTYD. Too many US TV channels show it over and over, sometimes 24 hours a day every year beginning at US Thanksgiving. It is a great movie, but sometimes you get too much of a good thing. Same with A Christmas Story.

2024-11-28 15:39:53 +0000 UTCI think a lot of people are afraid that a black & white movie will be too slow-paced. But it really isn't, there are about 25 fantastic scenes in It's a Wonderful Life. It's truly captivating from start to finish. Anyway, if it doesn't make it this year, I hope it gets a chance in 2025! It really is the definitive Christmas movie, IMO.

I love so many of these movies like Top Gun, Leon or Fury Road. But I can vote for them any other month, December should be reserved for winter and Christmas movies.
