FIRST TIME WATCHING: X-Men Apocalypse (2016)

Comments

Ending on the danger room sequence was such a tease. The Essex Corp teaser will send comic readers into a frenzy, as it rightfully did. Won't say anything else about it.

Grif Kane

Hey Rob 'n' Trin, if you like James McAvoy's bald look you should check out the movie Split, it's part of a trilogy by M. Night Shamalama (idk). Unbreakable/Split/Glass.

Anthony Fioravaniti

And it was awesome, as I understand Olivia Munn is a huge Psylocke fan, she wanted to do the character justice and she did, it's too bad that she may never play the character again.

Deathhead

No, the thing is they had this version from fox, that's why they killed him off, because there was this better version of him already and there was no reason to have the same character twice.

Deathhead

The military man that said he's talking about the God damn world was on It as the creepy father.

Jenny Lee Villanueva

You've answered this when your memory came back lol

Jenny Lee Villanueva

Cyclops, you know him from Real Player One

Jenny Lee Villanueva

Psylocke was was in Tales The Walking Dead with Terry Crews

Jenny Lee Villanueva

Great reaction as always! I really enjoyed this

Goldcrusty

Will y’all be watching New Mutants? It’s part of this X-men Universe/timeline

Tatumness

When the time comes I hope they watch don’t skip the credits in D&P that nostalgia train had me in tears in the theater.

Cynthia

I love this movie

james moore

Will say it once again. Quicksilver got violated in the MCU he’s such a cool character. Fun fact this means that Magneto is technically Wanda Maximoffs father as well since her and Pietro/peter are twins. Even though we haven’t seen magneto in the main MCU it’s cool to think about that being a possibility

James

That's actually the comic accurate costume for Psylocke. The Director wanted to do something more movie friendly, but Olivia Munn insisted she get the comic accurate costume.

Farva

I've always loved this one. Issac's performance is so underrated.

k4rizz4

Storm is supposed to have a African accent which is something they got right that the original 3 films didn't do with Halle Berry

Rashad Walker

That's Oscar Issac

This movie gets so much unwarranted hate IMO. Growing up on the comics and watching the original animated series I loved finally seeing this kind of introduction of these characters. I’m glad you guys go into these movies with an open mind and enjoy them.

Daniel Minerva

This one, while bad, always felt like an attempt at doing a live action Saturday morning cartoon from the 90's. So I can forgive it a bit.

trlb

To me, this one is definitly not the weakest. It’s been the one I’ve been waiting for the most tbh, hits you in the feels.

Adam Belfort

A step down from Days of Future Past... But always worth it for that Quicksilver scene alone. I seem to enjoy the whole movie more nowadays though... because of fun reaction rewatches. And having the mainstays come together for the final stand is pretty satisfying. (One complaint is that Jean stepping up to finish things is way too dragged out.)

Octavia

Been looking forward to this one! Probably the weakest of the "newer" trilogy (imo), but I thought it was still an enjoyable watch. I think the actor who played Apocalypse is a good actor but that he wasn't the right one for that role. Their overall direction and design also made him feel too much like a villain out of a Power Rangers movie to me. Getting ready to sit down and watch the reaction. Here's hoping you guys watch Logan soon! =D

RabidSloth

When rob said about the winged warrior 'that's the son of' am I the only one screaming "the son of Ian beale" 😂

Shelley

Yay!!! I've been waiting for this one!! 🙌 I can't wait until you guys get to Agatha All Along. I liked the Netflix Daredevil series, but not my favourite.

The girl who went out with Scott, Jean, and Kurt to see Return of the Jedi was Jubilee which is short for her full name Jubilation Lee. Her nickname is also her mutant codename which is another way of saying celebration. And what other way to celebrate than with fireworks? This movie also introduced the world to Lana Condor. It was her major acting debut. Jubilee is a very popular character among the X-Men. In the 90’s cartoon, she was a foster kid who was confronted by Sentinels in the season 1 two-parter premiere. The X-Men rescued her from the robots and welcomed her to the team. She's also back in the continuation X-Men '97. They don’t really build anything from the post-credit scene, but the name Essex is a big deal in all X-Men lore. That name is associated with a character named Nathaniel Essex. He’s better known as Mr. Sinister the vampire mutant. He also antagonized the X-Men in the 90’s cartoon. Looking back, Oscar Isaac didn’t really enjoy his role as Apocalypse in this film. He had a lot more fun working on Moon Knight by comparison. We also can’t overlook his time in Star Wars as Poe Dameron, and of course he voices Miguel O’Hara/Spider-Man 2099 in the Spider-Verse films. He’ll be back for Beyond the Spider-Verse. And finally, as far as X-Men movies go this is the last one to feature a cameo from Stan Lee. The woman he was hugging was his real life wife Joan. She passed away in May 2017, about a year and a half before her husband did.
