The whole reason she was cast is because she's the perfect amount of androgynous for the role. That's like her entire thing: being androgynous. Obviously also because she's a phenomenal actor, but yeah. Archangel Gabriel is definitively male. Angels in general are genderless, hence why Tilda was perfect for this role, but Gabriel is the male manifestation.

There was also a tv show was called Constantine that more closely followed the source material but itβs with a different actor as Constantine and was kind of linked to CW DCEU TV SHOWS. Itβs also pretty good but the movie has always been my favorite π

Really enjoyed seeing it again, and glad Rob and Trin liked it. Keanu Reeves and Rachel Weisz Also starred together in the 1996 film Chain Reaction. They make a good team.

Matt Ryan (from the Constantine tv series & Legends of Tomorrow) is John Constantine. But R&T make everything more compelling. Plus, it's Keanu.

I don't know how long ago it was, but Keanu did an interview and they asked him if he'd ever had a character he wanted to play again but didn't get the chance, and he said Constantine. It sort of sparked online hype for the possibility of a sequel and they have apparently finished the script and Keanu is on board to reprise his role. The character of Constantine first appeared in DC comic books in June 1985. He was just a side character at first and then got his own story, due to his popularity, in 1988.
