I loved your reaction to this yet again! The only thing I have to disagree with is Rob’s mentality of “they’re both victims there are no bad guys” listen I understand they are kinda coaxed into piracy so they have the money to pay off the gangs, but still there’s always another way aside from robbing and killing innocent people. If your mindset was consistent, in that case, it’s also okay for a Hitman to go around assassinating random innocent people cuz his boss says he has to do it or he won’t get paid and he’ll get beat up etc. I don’t consider the Hitman a victim in that scenario and same with the Somalis in this movie. You can still be empathetic to their situation of course it sucks but they are still bad guys.

ALSO its been said that Tom Hanks performance during this scene is one of the most accurate portrayals of someone in shock
