Konari needs a bit of dirt

Everyone else watching at the end I will show a very dirty 2bus chain I have used in the past as well when the mix would be very very clean.

So, a few tricks in here to get your limiter to like you again :). Pretty handy for most people.

Got more numbers?

Quick synopsis for number hunters.

-7 peak for the kick, after slowly put up all volume on feeling. After you are done in the tiny loop of the main "drop/verse" put up a limiter and see if you can hit around -8lufs integrated without distorting the limiter of your (FULL) production. If you can't double check why via an EQ. Replace the thing that is causing distortion and double check your reference again.

Once this loop is alright (janitor) get creative and keep going ...

Piet's track

It's pretty good man! Personally, just add in some dirt (tape or any other subtle saturation or colourful compressor like xla3)

Good job :)

Phazze first track

Well, you did very good for a first time production! Personally I would shorten the song a lot and do a "janitor" moves to clean up a tad.

Getting creative with sends for Kulpa

A/b the reference track and balance it so that when you a/b it nothing really pops out

Benjamin two tracks

Last thing, I would also A/B both tracks back and forth. The lead of song "ID" will immediately jump out as a tad too loud :). And the hi hat of track Sensation will jump out with the phase

Bit of tweaking in your own way and you can make it fit in your production :)

Numbers and Loudness

Just copy paste your reference ish unless you are releasing for listeners on normalised platforms/care a lot about translation

Matt's track

If a widener was used on the master try turning it off, it could also be a mid side eq thing but overall it's a tad on the wide side. For the rest a general janitor clean up will help out. Bit of sidechaining on the drums in the drop so that the drop hits a little harder. For the vocals bit of sidechaining to the melody group (frequency sidechaining in mono) just to make the vocals a little more upfront like the drop. That's about it :)

Shamim bit of production work

Bit of production work and a bit of mixing. If you dial back whatever is on the master than the kick won't have that 200 ish bump :).

Nick and his new Room

So, just first download REW which is new. Go to room sim and already start virtually testing your room. Add in the coefficients of absorption and place them around the room the way you think is best. After do the virtual speakers and get in the virtual measurement as flat as possible.. Mess around with placement of absorption (more front wall vs back wall vs hanging from ceiling etc). Once you have the best response start placing everything and measure with a measurement mic. Then either try ...

Merry Christmas everybody

I have been way too busy being a dad and taking care of the family. I will be with you all again after this tiny Christmas break. Much love!

The emotional intent mixing is done. However I would have a think about the "janitor mix" level. Where you simply get a balanced mix. Easy part would be half top end processing, have another listen to the reference and have a feel about amount of reverb.

Keep working with the guy but remind emotional intent mixing. And please have some fun with the ring tone track

Couple of little mixing things to take in to consideration but overall great job

Juste S room help

If it's you bedroom I would try to make a dedicated "studio" area of the room. So that you have a Dead and Live room. It will feel a lot better and will also focus your room a little better. I would also suggest getting a measurement microphone and using rew with the mic. Do this once the room is finished. You can take that data and use your sub dsp, and neumann dsp to get the eq to your liking.

What goes first on the 2bus?

Saturator ->eq/compression->compression/eq

If you are going for Lo-Fi keep going. If you want it just a tad more "hi fi" follow the instructions :)

Piet's two tracks

A lot to say but in general. but the biggest bang bang will be adding sub

View Post

La Giang, did you forget to activate the sub channel?

I am 99% certain you exported the song without the sub or maybe ableton is throwing another hissy fit. But, in this version there is simply no sub. And I know you and your music. It's always sub heavy.. .. That's is my only remark with the add on of the lead that comes in that stutters. Maybe add in a simple pattern for the lead.

Thank you for adding the reference track! That makes it a lot easier to pin point the issue the a/b might have. Which in this case is very simple. The drive knob half way and add in stereo/panning/reverb to the drum elements.

Deniz with heavy hitters

My main concern is that main limiter that is missing at the moment (easy fix). And, that the hi hats are extremely dominant so I share a few tricks to get those in line

A lot of little tips but it might be an idea if I mix it from scratch

Social Media Release for a Dancer

The most important thing is to remember that the viewer needs to be sucked in and not distracted by sound. So, just fix that beginning so that the volume does not jump in one go. For the rest, make sure you have -2db headroom (via the ceiling on a limiter) (no need for true peak). Try also not to go over -8 lufs and get more than -11 lufs on the loudest part.

Phones tend to not do well with very hot songs (loud and no headroom). I am not sure if Instagram or Tik Tok etc does loudn...

Have a listen to a reference and listen to mid and side on those references. Also, vocal ride and maybe.. use the same kick throughout :)

Voip for audio

So xsustva has an idea to make a voip for audio. This already exists but can definitely be done nicer. Right now I personally do Skype for my screen, phone for face/talking and lastly Audiomovers Listento for the high quality audio.

If this could be done in 1 that would be amazing. Preference would be to keep my phone for Voip though.

Anybody have any other Voips for audio?
