I get yall are really empathetic people and I love that about yalls reactions BUT yall have to remember Aegon is a rapist & liked to watch children (including his own) fight to the death. Like Alicent raised some unhinged kids. Him saying he was bored during the last council meeting wasn’t ONLY bc they don’t listen to him. It’s bc he’s legitimately bored. In his own words “I have no taste for duty”. That’s why everyone treats him like the dumb drunk he is. Though there IS that layer of Alicent forcing this on him because of her own delusions. Viserys was very clearly talking about Aegon the conqueror & tho it wasn’t clear to her, she used the words of a dying man, high on opioids to justify what she was planning all along. Her setting aside her grievances w Rhaenyra for ONE night doesn’t change the fact that she raised her kids to believe Aegon is the true heir(she didn’t do much else to raise him tho). That’s why Aemond esp is the way he is. She was a terrible mother who projected onto her children. She married her own daughter off to her son after saying “Targaryens have queer customs” just to ensure her blood on the throne. Also if you remember, Helaena basically said in 1x8 that Aegon just ignores her until he’s drunk enough to procreate & knowing Helaena…I doubt it was ever consensual. Yall don’t seem to mention his wrongdoings at all except that he didn’t want to be king. I hope to hear more nuanced takes in the future.

Who cares about this end of Life franchise? It was a soap opera

Just finished binging 2,3,4, and 5 and wanted to point out that in Ep4 when Aemond joins the battle, attacks Rhaenys and Aegon tangled up in the sky, he seemed purposely indiscriminate with the flame. You can even see it in Aegon face as he realizes what Aegon is about to do. Aemond has never thought his big brother was fit for the throne but was willing to ignore him as long as he got his way. After that bullying scene in the brothel and the scene at the council table where Aemond actively undermined Aegon, it is pretty clear that Aemond is done with tolerance of his inept older brother. Aemond can take plausible deniability as a cover for it because of the situation but he bathed the King in fire on purpose in the hopes that it would improve his position. Also, I would not dismiss what is happening to Daemon in Harrenhal as him just being manipulated or tripping balls on some concoction made by the weird witch lady. Harrenhal in famed in the lore for being cursed as well as haunted, so I feel like he is genuinely being haunted not just by guilt but also some scary bad mojo that is sunk into the bones of Harrrenhal after hundreds of years of bad stuff going on there. This a world with dragons and magic, ghosts are not a far leap. Not sure if you have read the books but just do a google search for "Lady Stoneheart" if not and that will give you an idea what George's world is capable of in that regard. Another note, Liza Arynn was breast feeding her 10 year old son, who was actually Little Finger's kid. That is a whole pile of creepy all it's own Lady Jeyne Arynn has no blood in common with Liza Arynn from GoT. Liza was a Tully, who married Jon Arynn. and Catelyn Stark's little sister. All we know of the Arynn household was Jon Arynn who we never get to meet but his death at the start of season 1 GoT is what got the whole ball rolling with Ned to be the hand for Robert. By all accounts Jon Arynn was a good man, a foster father/mentor to both Ned Stark and Robert Baratheon, and the Arynn's a noble house. I wouldn't automatically write Jeyne Arynn in HOTD off just because of that one, understandably prickly, interaction with Rhaena,
