2024-02-20 23:41:27 +0000 UTCI don't know much about the DCEU, but I will say, the Synder Cut of Justice League is not am "extended cut"; uts the way the movie was intended but for reasons I'll spare, wasn't met during the theatrical. So the Synder cut is the "real" version, not extended.

2024-02-06 09:20:47 +0000 UTCI always gave it a pass because in the comics, Superman always tries to find another way, but this version is not "Superman" yet. He's still discovering who he is 'cause he JUST found out and doesn't even know what his role is going to be on this planet yet. I thought that killing Zod here could be a major touchstone in his development that could make him resolve to do better in the future or a "never again" moment. It could shape him like the last words of Uncle Ben shaping Spider-Man. I personally really liked the grounded sort of sci-fi take on Superman's origin here that showed how scary it would be for people on this planet to experience this.

2024-02-05 09:09:56 +0000 UTCI knew you both would love this film considering how open minded you both are. I absolutely love this film and I was a kid watching this in theater. It was the first Superman movie I ever watched and I loved it, I watch it every year! It really captures the heart of Superman & the dark elements of DC that I love. Alot of DC’s negative reception came from the lack of humor as yall noticed. Being that Marvel was so hot at the time and I guess general audiences weren’t expecting a superhero film to take itself so serious. Which is unfortunate because DC Comics excels at telling darker superhero stories and that’s why I love DC so much. I want my heavy/emotional moments to stay their course not be overshadowed by a joke. Not to knock people who like to have the mood lightened but I love that we have a superhero genre that doesn’t always do that, there is room for both to coexist and everyone to watch their preferred style of films! This film has some of the best action sequences I feel like I ever seen and the cinematography was perfection!! I do hope one day y’all watch the sequel Batman v Superman: Ultimate Edition not the theatrical one, there are critical differences that make or break the film!

I found it to be quite good and entertaining, not perfect, but an enjoyable show with a lot of lore about the planet, the culture and the house of El and others; also, not a terribly long series episode count wise

It would come down to that no matter what, eventually he would have to kill him because he had all the same power as Superman. They couldn’t hold him. However, the entire final sequence with Zod was him intentionally goading Superman to kill him. Zod had become purposeless, and he could not adapt, and there was only one person who “could” kill him.

I like both Marvel and DC, but in my heart I think I'm more of a DC fan overall. I'm *really* looking forward to seeing if Rob likes this one since he mentioned before that he liked DC stuff. As much as I did like the Avengers series, my favorite thing to come out of Marvel was always the X-Men. And lo and behold! We're getting that too!

If they *do* end up getting into it enough to want to watch the other ones, then IIRC, Suicide Squad Extended Cut (though imo it's the weakest of the bunch) should be watched after BvS, then Wonder Woman, and then ZS's Justice League. The Aquaman movie was good imo, but unfortunately is based after the Whedon version of Justice League (barf), so there are some minor continuity issues. But it's still worth a watch imo if they have any inkling to at the time.

2024-02-03 04:47:55 +0000 UTCLove this for you guys, Man of Steel in my opinion is the only DC property that rivals TDK or Marvel, along with Wonder Woman which I thought was another incredible DC property, Gal Gadot is very good. Next up is Batman v Superman Ultimate, which is better than its given credit. Unfortunately The Justice League was terrible, Joss Weadon needs to stick to marvel and respecting women’s boundaries. Zac Snyder needs to stick to gritty DC so watch the latter, but it’s is over 3 hours long 😬

2024-02-02 23:36:32 +0000 UTCIf you watch VERY closely in the scene near the end where Superman is fighting to fly into the world engine, the powerful bright blast is kind of warping his face. There are a few frames where he looks exactly like Christopher Reeve. Fans started asking online if a few frames of Reeve were actually added. Some articles confirm it as a subtle CGI Easter egg homage added by Snyder, and some articles claim it was never confirmed. I’d love to know what you think. Do you see it? (If you can’t catch it when you watch, you can google it and find the still images.) ❤️😇❤️

The theatrical one was cut down for time and is not nearly as good. Man of Steel --> Batman v. Superman (Ultimate Edition) --> Zack Snyder's Justice League Those make a good trilogy if you are not wanting to watch all of the DCEU.

I am a Marvel fan and the biggest reason for that is the, again my opinion, intelligent humor in those films; sometimes subtle, other times a little over the top, but I love it. The reason I am not as big a fan of DC was their lack of humor. I felt they were too dark. However, I also think with the more recent DC they realize the appeal in Marvel and are trying to replicate it, but it just falls flat.

2024-02-02 18:41:47 +0000 UTCSo, Batman vs Superman is the direct sequel to Man of Steel, and Justice League is pretty much the third movie of the trilogy. PLEASE remember to watch the Extended Cut of both movies if you're planning to watch them of course, not the botched versions Warner made for cinema because they were trying to copy Marvel 😅 That said, the rest of the DCEU can be watched in any order, so please please please consider watching THE Suicide Squad and Peacemaker, I'm assuming but I definitely think it's your thing ! Anyway, from what I understand a lot of OG fans were taken aback by the darker tone of this movie, so I'm glad you liked this version of Superman !

I’d love to see some more DC content now this seriously got me into it. The pure devastation that happened to these cities was insane so many people probably died in those building. I’d be happy to see you guys do some more DC in the future maybe after Marvel is done

That said I still think most of them are worth watching. basically anything up to the justice league (Snyder version) is decent and most of the stuff after is pretty bad, except maybe the wonderwoman sequel which was alright, but again not great.

I fell in love with THE Suicide Squad, hard and fast and the Peacemaker series was the cherry on top. James Gunn has a beautiful mind and killer taste in music. I hope you'll continue your DC journey as the schedule allows.
