2024-02-04 01:01:46 +0000 UTCAvatar is a beautiful and original film. My daughter and son-in-law took me to see it in the theater in 3D. They said the look of rapture on my face was pretty scary. When it was released on Blu-ray it was given to me as a gift, but I found everything that mesmerized me in the 3D theater seemed to be muted on my television and it lost the magic.

Many of the older films are so good, but if the majority voting are younger they most likely are going to choose recent films because they have not watched the older ones and don't want to vote for something unfamiliar.

They'd be polling long into February still if they'd included everything lol

But sadly people seem to prefer the newer, flashy action movies over deep thinking science fiction..And so these 'flashy' action movies will always win over the classics any day, unless you make a poll specifically with classic science fiction.. This list is more on the fun popcorn movie tier..So even if it's not a great movie or one that you didn't vote for, they're still fun to watch..

Every suggestion post I try to work my way down the list and say "we have seen this" so that thay can repost but still it does not work and we have said "we have seen back to the future" at least 20 times 😂. No hate to you ofc just saying how it is on our end with this 💕

Rob and trin will always answer anything we ask or suggest when they come on to check the app so you should get a pretty swift response.

Feels like my poll suggestions are wasted if I post one they have seen. Now, I realize that would be a huge endeavor but going forward if someone adds a movie already seen maybe it can be added to a searchable running list. I would love to really suggest a good movie not seen. 😉

Everything else is new, boring flashy action, barely deserves the name of sci-fi. Transformers, really? That trash over Pitch Black and Abyss? Contact? (I haven't seen Paul, though. And never heard of it).

If your first choice doesn't make it to the final poll, maybe you second, third, or fourth choice will. I don't know if I see a difference in what people will pick if everyone can only pick one choice. But maybe I'm missing something. I do think though that the issue isn't how many choices we can pick, but more maybe the age of the people voting, to some extent. Like for nostalgia sake, older people (born in the early 90s, 80s or older), won't likely pick the same films as people born in the 2000s. Not saying that people born in 2000s will never pick older films. But fims that came out when I was in college are films they saw as a child. So they may vote for those more. I don't mind Disney films, for example. But I prefer to see reactions to the ones I saw when I was a child (Disney Renaissance Era). And those don't get voted for as much as movies like Encanto. Same with Musicals, or any other genre.

And I actually like we get to vote more than once, because sometimes there are more than one we like, so we don't just struggle to pick one and we can give our vote to all we want.
