FIRST TIME WATCHING Rogue One (2016)

Comments

I am! I waited for season 2 to finish so I could binge and now here I am! MAN Andor was SO F'ING GOOD! More Star Wars for adults yes please and thank you.

Kale

Anyone back here after watching Andor ? 😂

Adam Belfort

If you guys want to do the star wars shows I agree you should do release order. The Clone Wars is not only imo the best star wars content but also the best place to start watching the shows.

Locustki11er01

one of the best done shows ever and surely the best one in star wars' tv

FedeM

Just watch andorrrr next please

Lucas James

Solo is worth watching. Not as good as Rogue One but definitely underrated. Watch it.

Eric J Fleming

The next thing you will love is Andor

John

Now waiting for Andor series

Dude

Rogue One is my second favorite Star Wars movie. The shows range from “ok that was worth a watch” to HOLY HELL THAT WAS AMAZING. Solo, thankfully, has no real impact on anything and you can watch it or skip it or leave it till after the shows and you miss nothing

@Foodmancing

Incredible movie and reaction! I'm with Dylan, it's actually taken top spot for me

Darrell Pringle

This is my favorite Disney Star Wars by far! I really like this film in general. But I've always loved war stories that are based in realism. The hero doesn't always get to live at the end. These were heroes who were part of a very integral part of the war, but it didn't stop the war and they didn't get to go on to live happily ever after. The ultimate sacrifice for a cause they believed in. Apparently I like stories where a lot of my favorites die (??? lol) but these stories always get me.

Taylor Hensley

The beginning of this movie was a bit slow and meandering, but man the entire second half is so powerful. Easily my favorite Star Wars movie of the "Disney era." I really love Episode 7 too, but 8 and 9 definitely fail to capture the magic of this world.

Joshua Markham

I would love a Mandalorian reaction later down the line once you two are all caught up in the timeline

RobTheBlob

BEST. ROGUE ONE REACTION. EVER! Usually the reactions are done by people who have watched the original movies only once, spread over weeks or even months, so they forgot most of it. So you, as real fans, knowing the movies in and out, getting all the little details makes this astonishingly special. I absolutely love it!

Anatol

This movie is great my only complaint is they seemed really proud of they're CGI Tarkin and they used him way way way to much, other than that great movie

TurtZ

Trin (about K2): “of course they have to kill the one I like” Me: Oh honey you have no idea… Great reaction to a great film, guys!

Wendy Warren

this is a great film, and the Andor series is probably the best of the new TV show star wars. highly recomended!

Joseph Bayley

That Darth Vader scene at the end just gives me full-body chills every...frackin'....time! It's interesting how the two titles people initially thought were "unnecessary" (Rogue One and Andor) turned out to be two of the best Star Wars titles...absolutely top-notch film/TV. Along with The Mandalorian, they elevated the franchise into the 21st century.

Michael Celia

Not only my favorite Star Wars movie, but up there in my list of favorite movies in general. It’s just so damn good. Andor is an incredible show as well!

Michael Brown

I’m hoping they do the animated clone wars show before starting any of the live action ones it’s necessary to watch first in my opinion

James

Some might give me shit for it but for me this is my favourite Star Wars movie by a country mile. It just hit all of the right spots for me. I was also surprised by how much I enjoyed the Andor show, considering he was actually the one part of this movie I didn’t find all that compelling.

Dylan

Yeah, i'd also love to see you guys move into the Star Wars universe down the line when other universes have been wrapped up.

PhoenixReturns

I think you would love the first of those Star Wars shows, The Mandalorian.

Zpitzer

Ive tried to watch this movie a few times but fell asleep...this will give me an excuse not to because I heard its the best "Disney" star wars.

Alyssa Dyson

Loved this at the highest degree, thank you guys. Big fan of the franchise, same feelings about the few last ones but went to see this one in the theaters with a friend, we both looked at each other at the end of the movie and said « Fuck, that was amazing. »

Adam Belfort

React reaction, I hope yous watch the shows

Seán

Street noise was loud so she had to use Nvidia broadcast. Less noise but has an annoying pop. Street noise was way worse

Take a Ticket

What's happening with Trin's mic at the start? Edit glitch or connection glitch? Ooh, I perked up when Rob said he didn't think there'd be "a Luke or a Darth Vader in there", only the greatest Darth Vader scene EVER! One thing I never understand about those "gates" is, why not just go past it, through the atmosphere? Is the whole atmosphere a shield too?

PsYcHoKiLLa

Best star wars movie since the prequels

Raphael Lyons

Mothma and her « Many Bothans died for this information » is not in episode IV, it’s in VI. In a new hope, it’s Ackbhar heading the mission from the ground. It’s a common Mandela effect, many people think the Bothans stole the plans for the Original Death Star, but it was for the 2nd Death Star

Gabriel

I've no interest in watching Solo, but I hope you enjoy it if you watch it. I'll 100% be there if you ever watch The Madalorian though! =)

RabidSloth

I liked how the movie really drove home the weight of their sacrifice. The plans R2 is carrying in A New Hope somehow feel like an even bigger deal now when watching it. I'm not a lore aficionado, but I'm assuming that the "Rogue Squadrons" in the original trilogy were named so in memory of Rogue One. Which I also really like. Fun Fact: In the controversial "machete order" of watching the first 6 Star Wars movies, Rogue One is actually included, and the first movie in the sequence. RO, IV, V, I, II, III, VI. (and then personally I tack on Seasons 1&2 of The Mandalorian after that).

RabidSloth

Great reaction, I would recommend Andor and Obi-wan if you want some quick shows to get through. The other Star wars shows are good too but they are all interconnected and need to be watched in a certain order.

Strav 23

Lol. The first Death Star this is before a new hope

Han

My feelings about SOLO is that it was a fun movie that didn't need to be made.

WalkingTaako

I am the one who reluctantly put this on the poll, as I am a HUGE, Star Wars fan! I didn't see any other nominations for either Rouge One or Solo, when I listed Rouge One...sorry if I missed any other entries for this. I say reluctant as, I thought I saw in Discord that Star Wars films were taboo, since Reye and Snoke and Kylo, took the joy of Star Wars from you. Like you said, episodes 7-9, muddled the vibe of the original trilogy and even the Prequels brought to the Star Wars Universe, but to a degree, were enjoyable. They just in my opinion didn't further the Skywalker storyline. I am glad this movie won a spot and it lit that spark that a New Hope did. I was 7 years old when Star Wars first came to the theaters. Yes, I have seen the first 6 films dozens of times. Same for Rouge One and Solo. Just a side note, I am a fan of the Empire and Sith (I am Darth Sidious on Discord) no hate please, just a fan, I like cool toys, and Star Destroyers and Death Stars are neat. Plus, I have met the actor Ian McDiarmid who portrayed Palpatine in the films and in some of the shows. I love a good villain! As far as the Disney shows, release order is only needed for The Clone Wars, Rebels, and Andor, Obi-Wan Kenobi Bad Batch they take place before the Galactic Civil War. Below is the Galactic Time-line as far as all the Streaming shows go, which is the actual recommended viewing order as it gives you the events happened in the Star Wars Universe, which is different from the MCU. as some shows like the Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, come in between The Return of the Jedi, and The Force Awakens. why Disney did it this way is weird, but release order messes with the continuity of the story and won't make sense. I will write Below the chronological order to watch the Streaming Shows and Solo a Star Wars Story. You technically could watch Solo next, as it's just Han Solo's back story and isn't really figured into the Streaming shows that came out on Disney Plus, but I will put it down Below just in case. The Clone Wars fall in between episodes 2 and 3 in the Prequels, next I would watch, Bad Batch, Solo a Star Wars Story, Obi-Wan Kenobi (which takes place 10 years after Episode 3, The Revenge of the Sith), Star Wars Rebels, Andor, The Mandalorian seasons 1& 2 (takes place 5 year after Episode 6(Return of the Jedi), The Book of Boba Fett, the Mandalorian season 3, Ashoka, Skeleton Crew, Star Wars Resistance. As I stated, release order jumps all over the Time-line and for casual followers of Star Wars things won't make sense as the Release Order is jumping all over the Time-line. It would be like my attempt at watching the MCU, starting with WandaVision, just because it what was the current show out, and only watch Ironman through the the First Average movie, (which I did, my head nearly exploded trying to figure out what was going on) luckily you decided to tackle the MCU, otherwise i wouldn't have tried again. To understand Star Wars, the chronological order fits best to fill in the blanks. Truth be told, Disney is trying to fix the sequel trilogy (episodes 7-9) through giving us the background of the rise of the First Order by giving us the Mandalorian onward, and filling in the events that led to the rise of the Empire in The Clone Wars, and the rise of the Rebellion from Bad Batch - Andor. Hopefully that helps, I know that is a lot of information. Oh and by the way the Bothans, we're an alien race known for their spy network. They gave the Rebellion the location of the 2nd Death Star.

Anthony Ancona

I think the Bothans died getting out info for the second death star, right? I'll have to rewatch.

Amos T Fairchild

Also, if you would like to get to know Rebel Hero, Cassian Andor, played by Diego Luna, a bit more than the man we get to know here within Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, I highly, highly recommend his spinoff show... Andor. A show that is dedicated to Cassian Andor. So far, only season one has been released, and there are a total of twelve episodes for this season. Season two will be coming out as well with twelve more episodes, which will be released sometime next year. Andor has so far been a phenomenal show, that holds true to what we love about Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and we get to know who Cassian Andor is, and who he was back before he ever joined the Rebellion. If you're interested in watching it, and if you ever can find time to add a new show to your other shows you are reacting to for us, I would absolutely love to see you come to react to this incredible show!! I highly recommend it! Andor for me, is by far the best out of all the Star Wars shows released on Disney Plus. I absolutely love, love, love it!! :) Thank you! Sincerely, Heidi

Heidi Elizabeth Marcum

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story- Thank you both so much for such a fabulous reaction to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Rob and Trin! I absolutely love this movie, and I consider it to be one of my absolute favorites of all the Star Wars movies, tied with the Original Trilogy movies that are set in time immediately after Rogue One is set. I am so happy that you have both now come to really love this movie so much too, as well as its characters! I absolutely love this movie's overall theme of hope. I love, love, love just how brilliantly and beautifully this movie connects to Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, and love that this movie is set directly before the events of A New Hope. And if you remember back to... or watch the Star Wars scroll at the beginning of A New Hope, the scroll explains that a small band of rebels fights against the Empire to get the Death Star plans for the Rebel Alliance so they can destroy the Death Star. These words from this scroll, is where the whole overarching idea for this movie came from. This is the story that Rogue One's director... Gareth Edwards, and its writer... Tony Gilroy, wanted to tell. And it is absolutely phenomenal! Because without this small band of rebels going against the Alliance Council's orders... Without their sacrifices... Not only would the original trilogy be unable to exist, but the Rebellion would have failed, and the entire Rebellion would have all likely been killed, or the Rebellion would have disbanded and would have given up their fight against the Empire. And the Empire tragically would have won. Each member of Rogue One are heroes by their own merits because they bring hope back to the Rebellion, and fight and die to make sure that the Alliance do not give up their fight against the Empire like they want to out of fear of the Empire's strength and power. They sacrifice everything, including their very lives. These rebels most certainly deserve to have a movie that honors them. I love that this movie has been created so that we can see just how it is Leia comes to have the plans for the Death Star, like we see that she does in the very beginning of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. And I love that this movie introduces us to a new group of Rebels within the Alliance who are all striving to find any information about the Empire that will help them to prevent the Empire's deadly plans to take over the Universe. And in so doing, one of the Intelligence officers discovers that the Empire has built the Death Star, known only to them at the time as a "planet killer", and that unfortunately, the Empire has completed it. Now... They need to find someone they received word had helped to build the Death Star. I absolutely love this movie's overall story arcs for each of its characters and the movie's overall plot. Especially in regards to the rebels and how they enlist Jyn Erso to help them find her father, the lead designer and builder of the Death Star, forced to do so against his will. I really love that Galen Erso creates a trap within the Death Star, allowing for the Alliance to destroy it like we see Luke succeed in doing in A New Hope. Most of all, I love how this small group of rebels within the Alliance go against word of the Council when they refuse to rise against the Empire out of fear, as this band that comes to be known as Rogue One, invades the Imperial base where the plans for the Death Star are hidden. Unfortunately and tragically, each member of Rogue One dies, including each of our main characters who sacrifice everything for the Alliance so they could cripple the Empire. And they succeed. I absolutely love it! I know that there are a lot of Star Wars fans out there who have said they can't connect much, or if at all, with these characters because they are only in this one movie, and because they are unknown to us before this movie was created. However, I do. I can absolutely connect with each of them. Especially Cassian, Jyn, and K-2SO. I love each of them, because I admire their bravery for fighting against the Empire against all odds, as well as their own side to do what's right. As for the new and main characters... I enjoy Jyn, Chirrut, Baze, Bodhi, and Saw Guerra very much. And I enjoy a number of all the other new characters created for this movie, as well as love seeing a number of old beloved characters from the original and prequel trilogies such as Darth Vader, Bail Organa (Leia's adopted father who was introduced to us back in Episode II: The Attack of the Clones and mostly in Episode III: Revenge of the Sith), Princess Leia, Governor Tarkin (first introduced to us back in Episode IV: A New Hope), R2-D2 and C3-PO, and Mon Mothma (first introduced to us back in Episode VI: Return of the Jedi). However, my overall favorite of the new characters are absolutely Cassian Andor, the intelligence officer who brings the Alliance news of the "planet killer" and who fights alongside Jyn and K-2S0 to steal the plans, as well as K-2S0. I love what little we learn about why Cassian is a fighter within the Alliance, as he reveals to Jyn he has been in this fight since he was six years old, after he lost everything. I wish we learned more about him, and how he came to work with K-2S0. And I love Mexican actor... Diego Luna, who plays Cassian Andor, as well. I have seen him in a number of movies and he's an absolutely fantastic, brilliant actor in a number of movies I've seen him in! And now he even has his own show where he has taken up the role of Cassian Andor once more. Once again, he is phenomenal!! :) Jyn Erso of course is also amazing, as the daughter of Galen Erso and the newest rebel after the death of her father. I love her determination to avenge her father and mother, and to complete the mission her father had set out to do, for him. In regards to Cassian's and Jyn's relationship... They never were romantically involved, mostly because they never had the chance to grow that much closer than they had before they are both tragically killed in the ending of this movie, by the Death Star itself. However, Cassian and Jyn most definitely come to feel a very deep respect for one another, and they grow close in such a short amount of time. I would have loved to see them survive, if only just so we could have had the chance to see their relationship/friendship, and possible romance evolve. But with this being said... Their deaths are heartbreaking and beautiful. I love their final moments when Cassian comes back to save Jyn in spite of having been severely injured a short time earlier, when he shoots Director Krennic before Krennic can kill her. I love the brief moments between them in the ending as they look into each other's eyes, and I love how Cassian reaches out to take Jyn's hand as the blast from the Death Star is approaching them, as Cassian tells Jyn that her father would be proud of her. Such a beautiful and heartbreaking moment, as they finally embrace one another and are killed by the blast from the Death Star. So heartbreaking, and yet so beautiful and heartfelt. As for the appearances from the characters we've loved since the original Star Wars movies... I was pleasantly surprised that we saw so many. And sadly, a number of the actors who played some of them have passed away since the original movies. Princess Leia makes a very brief appearance in the very end as Carrie Fisher offers her voice for a single line and word... "Hope". Sadly, Carrie Fisher died the very year this movie was released in theaters, the night after Christmas. However, I love that through CGI, we are able to see Leia just as she was back in 1977. Another character from A New Hope we see here in Rogue One, whose actor also passed away long ago, is Governor Tarkin played by Peter Cushing. Tarkin worked alongside Darth Vader in A New hope and was directly under the Emperor's command, in charge of finishing the work on the Death Star. His character was very essential to the building of the Death Star, so it makes sense that this movie's creators would find a way to make Tarkin a part of this movie. Tarkin was later killed when the Death Star was destroyed in A New Hope. As for bringing Governor Tarkin back to life again despite his original actor having passed on... He too was all done through CGI and voiced by a different actor who was able to mimic Peter Cushing's voice, given that Cushing had died not long after the original Star Wars back in 1977. His CG-I, as well as Leia's CG-I is certainly wonky. However, I still really love his overall character and seeing him brought back for this movie. As well as Leia too! We also get to see a brief cameo appearance from both R2-D2 and C3-P0, which I love. And I absolutely love that Mon Mothma, the Alliance Council's leader and Senator wearing all white from Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi (played by a different actress back then) is brought back, as well as Leia's adopted father, Senator Bail Organa from Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, as he too is a member of the Alliance Council. In Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Mon Mothma is played by actress, Genevieve O'Reilly, and in Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, she is played by Caroline Blakiston. And another moment I love... I really love the brief scene between Bail Organa and Mon Mothma, as they talk about enlisting Obi Wan Kenobi for their battle ahead, and knowing the one person he absolutely trusts to seek Obi Wan out is his own daughter, Leia. Bail also talks to Mon Mothma about needing to return home so he can warn his people of the threat of the Empire. And if you remember... Bail was known to be from Alderaan, which we know to be later tragically obliterated completely by the Death Star in A New Hope, when it blows up his and Leia's home planet. So yes... Shortly after his moments here in Rogue One, he too is among those killed when his world is destroyed. And last but not least... We have Darth Vader himself. I absolutely love seeing him brought back for this movie! And wow!!!! I especially love the moment when he steps onto the Alliance ship during the major space battle in the end, then completely wipes out the soldiers in order to try to get back the plans before the Alliance can use them to destroy all of the Empire's hard work. This scene is absolutely amazing and so dark. I love it! Even though my stomach twists in knots as Vader kills all of these good men. It's tragic, and just an amazing scene. I also love getting to see the lava planet where Vader resides on, shown in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith... Mustafar. Overall... I absolutely love this movie and its incredible characters!! And once again, I am so happy that you really love this movie as well. And I am so grateful to you for your reaction for it. So, thank you once again, my dear friends! Sincerely, Heidi

Heidi Elizabeth Marcum

This is my favorite Star Wars movie I loved all the New characters, wished they lived 😔💜💜

Jenny Lee Villanueva

YES! At LEAST S1&2 =D

RabidSloth

I am so happy this was one of the winners. Surprised you hadn't watched this. So glad we got to watch you enjoy this for the first time. Now I have A New Hope that we will get more star wars in the future.

Bradley Weeks

oh god I hope you guys do The Mandalorian.

HeauxHalter

I’d absolutely love if you guys could react to more in the Star Wars universe at some point. The animated shows like clone wars and rebels are definitely worth watching before any of the other shows so you won’t be spoiled by anything and so you can have more context of the world as a whole.

James

I am one with the like button, the like button is with me.

Torbrevelk

Ha. My thoughts exactly

Bradley Weeks

This director is really awesome. Not only did he produce the (in my opinion) best Star wars movie, but also the arguably best Star wars series to this date (that one being "Andor" 😍) (It's also not tied to any of the other shows and it's quite short in comparison, so it would make for a great reaction 😬)

Eisbär

I guess I won't go to sleep just yet then 🥲
