The 100: S1E06 His Sisters Keeper - First time watching!

I deeply dislike Octavia and this episode was the start of it. The first few episodes she has been nothing but a brat, I get it, her life was hard, but this episode made her character an irredeemably ungrateful brat, sure she never asked Belamy to take care of her or protect her, but their mother did. Their mom knowingly broke the law and thrust an unnecessarily hard and unfair life on both of her children, the daughter having to be raised in darkness and isolation and the son having to take care of his sister, both living in fear of Octavia being discovered which would mean certain death for the mom and who knows what for the 2 of them. But for Octavia to constantly act like Belamy is the one who ruined her life when he has sacrificed everything over and over for her just makes me hate her.

The actor who played Bellamy as a kid probably wasn’t 6, but that’s what the creators of the show has said. All the ages I wrote are canon.

Gilstead

That's right... Bellamy is 23 in S1. He's the only person over 18 on the Dropship. (So honestly, old enough to know better than some of his actions. No excuses.) I always thought that Octavia is 16 here though. But I can imagine why they'd up her to 17. Clarke was just several weeks shy of her 18th birthday when sent down. (Which is why she panics, and says what she says, when they go to her cell in the 1st episode.) Like Clarke, Raven's birthday is soon, in late October... so she is going on 19 here. Her 18th birthday was the year before. The date they landed was September 13, 2149.

Octavia

Bellamy, based on the flashback, cannot be 23 if Octavia is 17. That boy was not even close to being 6 years old.... also Raven is 18. Says in the flashback with Finn which was just a few months before, it was her birthday then. It is quite weird though how the actress that plays Octavia is actually older than basically all of them

I just found out several of the actors on the also directed one or more episodes on the show further on! And they did a great job. As for the ages of the characters, everyone of «the 100» that were sent to the ground are under 18 at the time of the pilot. All criminals over 18 are executed/floated, which is why the «criminal» kids were the most expendable. Bellamy is 23. Clarke, Finn, Octavia, Wells, Murphy etc. are all 17, and Jasper and Monty are 16. Raven is 19. Abby and Kane are 40-42, Jaha is in his mid 40s.

Bellamy does take a whole turn in this episode, like you said Rob he did come as over protective brother but in this episode you get to see why he acts that way, I mean he had a LOT of responsability and he was so sweet in those flashbacks

No problem, R&T let their mods check the comments before reading. Btw you could have edited your comment and just delete the few words instead of the whole comment. :)

Oh good catch! I’ll remove

I wish there were more episodes a week :( I do not know if you could fit it in there, but it would be awesome. :)

Season 1 felt like it was gonna go in this cringey goofy direction but S2 picks up speed quickly

TurtZ

This is where we need two episodes a week somehow, WE ARE PICKING UP STEAM PEOPLE, Its gettin good

TurtZ

Excited for the finale and S2 and onwards! S1 of The 100 feels a lot like S1 of Lost (with it being a rather slow introduction to the characters, and the world of the ahow). A lot more teen angst and cringe moments ofc. But we’re barely starting to peel the outer layers of the onion.

Gilstead

Season 1 is full-on cringe, thankfully the actors and the writing matures A LOT from S2!

Gilstead

Oooh I would LOVE The 100 two times a week! I thought of the same thing but didn’t know if that would be possible for Rob & Trin. Don’t wanna stress them out if that’s too much, but if it’s something that works with their schedule, I would so be here for The 100 twice a week ha!

Chrissy

I can't side with Bellamy during that end-of-episode argument with Octavia. She didn't ask to be born or have to live under the floor. None of what happened, nor the weight Bellamy bore, is on her. Enjoyed seeing the dynamic of the Blake siblings fleshed out more though. Octavia is remarkable. But while Bellamy bearing so much pressure and guilt is understandable ... it's still no excuse for moronic and selfish choices. Of which, he is at fault and his guilt deserved.

BadCode

Back in the day, some referred to The 100 as 'Battlestar Jr.' Or... the bastard child of Battlestar Galactica & Lost. The Showrunner was definitely greatly influenced by those 2 shows, and said so.

Having Bellamy's story being told gave me enough insight into why he could appear to be an ass sometimes. His mother gave a little boy so much responsiblity at a young age. Understandable, because she knew she couldn't hide Octavia alone; she needed Bellamy's help. But the pressure of protecting your sister from something as big as that, is a lot for a little boy. I understand him a little more. I liked this episode a lot.

Can not wait for you guys to see season 2 and so on, season 2-5 are probably my favorite seasons. But the show changes ALOT each season kinda feels like a different show

Trinity Marie

I can't wait to see more of the reactions to this show, would love to see it 2 times a week in the future. Hope you guys stick with it for a while, love the reactions!

Leksa

I love how we see some characters in a different light now; knowing their backstory. I remember thinking Bellamy was controlling Octavia too! Now, we can totally relate to their [now] characters... 🤣
