Yeah I agree judith's child actor is great, usually kid actors aren't that good.

I just love how they handled such a large cast of characters this season.

Really? I've never heard them respond about it at all...and I've been flat out begging for a long time. Yes, it's a long ass show, but it's one they would insanely love. They could watch 3 x per week, say Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I'm still gonna keep asking, because I've been trying to find decent reactors for it, and they're beyond perfect for that show!

*no spoilers beyond this episode* This always sticks out to me as one of the most powerful stories in S9 and absolutely heartbreaking for Michonne having to slaughter so many children a) to save the children of Alexandria and b) when she already suffered the loss of her own child before meeting Rick's group. We saw her work through her grief in earlier seasons to eventually conquer her fear of loss and build such meaningful relationships with Carl and later Judith (let alone her unborn child RJ, the last true piece of Rick), so this episode hits where it hurts.

Yep, the writing is more interesting because there is inherent drama when re-building civilization. What laws should society have? Who gets to decide that? Who are your allies and who are your enemies and what the gradients in that, since there are moral gray areas too? That all dovetails in with the themes of living (art, culture, our heroes )versus surviving (The Whisperers). Plus, the dialogue is just much more organic and situations have set ups and payoffs/consequences. That's why Season 9 is one of my favorites!

From what they've said in the past, it's too long and too much of a commitment and they could do several shows in the same time. I wouldn't get my hopes up for Supernatural tbh.

Michonne is 100% Judith's mother. Sure, she didn't birth her, but Michonne has literally been in her life since day one. She was the one who brought Judith formula at the gates when she was first born and they didn't have any. She's been the one helping to care for her, and the closer she got to Rick and Carl, was actively a presence in her life, until she took on the mother role way back as she was a baby. She's no less Judith's mother than Rick is any less her father, just as Aaron and Carol are no less Henry and Gracie's parents.

Any word on Supernatural? It'd be the perfect show to fill the WD time slot

I never even picked up on the fact that Lydia being a kid made Michonne even less trustful given what she went through with Jocelyn. This is a dark one, reminds me a lot of 4x14 with Lizzie and Mika.

I never realized how much oxygen Rick used in the show until he wasn't there. Most storylines revolved around how Rick would feel, react or respond in a situation. His absence lets the rest of the ensemble enlarge their characters to be more than a member of Rick's entourage. I especially enjoy seeing Daryl and Michonne become leaders in their own way.

Regardless of your personal stance on Michonne's choice to isolate herself, this episode effectively justifies her reasoning. From her perspective, the potential dangers outweighed any potential benefits, and she carried deep emotional wounds. You may have reacted differently yourself, but Michonne's reaction was written effectively.

Love the little attention to detail in the flashbacks; Daryl still has both wings on his vest (as it's been FAIRLY recent since Rick's disappearance). When we meet him 6 1/2 yrs later, (half his heart) his brother is still missing as is the other angel wing. 💔😔

God I love this episode. Not only because it's so well written & directed, but also Danai (Michonne) is an absolute force of nature & Cailey (Judith) is seriously one of the best child actors in the industry right now. I really hate how it all went down & it's so hard to watch, but gives perfect reasoning as to why she closed Alexandria off.
I always understood Michonne's mentality of making Alexandria her only priority, eventhough I wasn't the biggest fan of it, but this episode makes it make so much sense. She wanted to keep Judith, RJ & the community Rick built safe. She was willing to open the doors to the people of the Kingdom & let them live there, she just wasn't willing to help the Kingdom itself, which is sad, but understandable - Alexandria comes first.
God I am so excited for whats to come. I know you have a weekly schedule, but if you want to react to next episode & upload it like.....idk.....today, you absolutely can! 😜

And that he allowd his saviors to kill kids like at Oceanside & Hiltop and he even blew up Alexandria which he knew had kids inside. There are so many atrocities this man and his abominations committed it disgusts me

The opening always gets me 😢 and the the rest of the episode just destroys me 😭. Absolutely phenomenal acting by Danai & Cailey. Easily one of my favorite episodes of the series just by how deep they went into Michonne’s thoughts and backstory, not to mention the music, they didn’t miss a beat. We knew Michonne & everyone were physically okay but revisting those scars was rough 😮💨

"...when did we stop loving Daryl?...and Maggie?...Carol, the King?
"We didn't."
"Then why does it feel that way?"
Geez! It still hits.

I do think that she still worried about her friends but she prioritized her own community. The fear of loosing a child is awful, I can understand her trauma.

The conversation between Michonne and Judith was so deep it makes me tear up all the time. They were both trying to protect each other without knowing it 😩 Also love Negan and Judith truthful relationship. This season is top tier 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾

Also, yes, the writing in season 10 and 11 are stellar. Whenever the pacing did feel off, it's temporary.

Personally, I understand Michonne being weary of strangers after this, but cutting off the people that you have been ride or die, with throughout the apocalypse, whom you know, love and trust, because of this was just completely unjustified. And I really did not appreciate the way they wrote it :/

I loved the way they shot this episode, especially the cuts between past Michonne killing the kids and present Michonne killing walkers, Danai is an INCREDIBLE ACTRESS! Also I don´t understand how Judith is the wisest character in the show, she is a kid 🤣

When Daryl walked out of the building, both of his knives were bloody. He was ending kids inside the building while Michonne was ending kids outside. People seem to forget that if it wasn't for Shiva, Negan would have ended Carl with his bat in the season 7 finale.

What an amazing (and horrific) episode. I love Michonne and Judith so much, their relationship is so sweet. Michonne has always been the most intuitive and reasonable character to me and I trust her judgement really above every other character. While I felt slightly frustrated with her earlier in the season, I knew there was a reason and WOW was that a reason.

We saw Aaron walking with Gracie the morning Michonne went to pick her daughter up from the sleepover.

I remember trying to put myself in michonnes shoes. I totally get how hard it was for michonne to move passed this event. She had to kill a ton of kids! And the editing of that scene with her jumping from striking those kids to her slicing up walkers was so well done. We didn't need to see it. I cannot believe we are about to start the finale next week! This season went by insanely fast. This season I think is my favorite of the whole show which you would think with Rick being gone wouldn't make that happen.

One of those episodes that reminds us just how dark this show can get, especially when it comes to the kids 😬
Glad we finally get some of those gaps filled in, I thought this episode was brilliantly executed, and Danai and Cailey acted the hell out of those scenes!
And yep, that is Rutina Wesley from True Blood guest starring as Jocelyn - and notably Maria in The Last of Us, so she's definitely had her fill of apocalyptic universes in recent years 😆
