LOST: S3E5 The Cost of Living - First time watching!

Comments

Ther was also a lot including me that at the end when Eko is walking away with his brother. Eko was at peace. Eko was my favorite of all. Then it was Hurley, but Eko stayed in 2nd.

Amanda Hymans

(Tried to edit, and it was crazy difficult in here.) Anyway.... my precious show and my precious movie, plus a favorite scene. Seen anew. Wow. Eko was Boromir, and John running up like Aragorn to help. And Sayid walking up with such curiosity and sadness, like Legolas. How many watches and I didn't see that until now. Lhm

kj robbi

Wow. Just wow about everything. Trin crying got me, for one. But also, curious coz there's few likes but tons of comments. 🤔 But what hit me hard was, because of y'all, I only just realized how similar Eko's death scene was reminiscent of Boromir's death scene. Birth I've watched tons of times, yet never noticed. Thank you so much.

Thanks Michie :)

I have to say this was your best Lost Reaction. I really loved the exchange. Even tho, I can't see Trin, I felt the shift of empathy for Trin about Eko, when you (Rob) talked about Eko. Hands down best one yet (don't worry I'm a fan of all your Lost Reactions 😅😅). You'll see Rob that season this is where you reached a new plateau in the show. Season 3 and plus, is where your commitment to the Island is challenged. 😂😂😂 Can't wait for you guys to react to more.

Professor Kube

Which is always interesting since neither Bernard or Cindy were true Tailies (hence your quotes)... he was just in the bathroom and she a stewardess. Poor tailies.

Wendy Sparks

Yeah totally! I was exhausted after this one lol

"You speak to me as if you were my brother." - Chills... and not the pleasant kind.

Ugly Pig

Hers was far less cringy lol

It's crazy to me that a show can bombard it's viewers with so many mysterious elements and still manage to create intrigue for each one, even those with very few appearances. The Smoke Monster hasn't been ''present'' for so long, and yet it's still just as interesting, and somehow relevant, to revisit it. Such a unique show.

Tommy Thompson

I cry everytime with Eko's "confession" and death scene so you are not alone in that Trin. Sad that Eko is gone now; unfortunately the actor wanted to leave the show (So I have read). Great theory about the "smoke" Rob; similar to thoughts I had when I first watched it. Lost will do that, confuse and "throw you for a loop", break you and lift you back up again.

Mel Ireland Lostie

Only two named "Tailies" left that we know of.....Bernard and Cindy.... I was quite annoyed when the Eko character was killed too. I was good for the show to have more cultural diversity, at least we still have Sayyid, Sun and JIn.

Matthew Garrison-Perkins

Juliet is obviously a fan of Love Actually... and put her own spin on the cue card scene.

Wendy Sparks

Ah yeah I was going to discuss the cue cards but the ending got me all in a spin and I totally blanked it lol, will try remember to add a couple thoughts at the start of the next episode 💕

Yeah was a totally unexpected end lol

“Island stuff” lol I still enjoy Rob gushing over Juliet 😍 Hawaii is indeed beautiful! ❤️❤️❤️ “You speak to me as if I were your brother.” AND Rob’s head explodes lol Such a devastating ending to a great character. Trin’s tears 💔 “Fuck off with the chills, man!” LOL The flashbacks might not be the greatest, but the on-island events are great. Enjoying your theories about the smoke monster, Rob! Nice discussions - I can see the gears turning! I’d love to know your thoughts on the “Juliet cue cards” scene!

Caleb Woods

wish people wouldn't bring these instances up to reactors tbh cause it always takes people out the story into real life casting and stuff, and pushes forward that stuff hasn't been planned to be that way, rather than being an intended part of the narrative of the show.

lemmy

"Was it scanning him?" - that's exactly the assumption we came to watching this live. This one always gets me. Btw there's another show that can gut punch you in the feels like this I'm aware of ;D you have plenty of feels ahead!

lemmy

For context, the creators of the show wanted Eko to stay way longer but the guy who played him really disliked being on the show and being in Hawaii so they were basically forced to kill him off which is unfortunate.

Rob

S3 is the weakest season, for me. I still love a ton of the episodes, but there are a few that feel like filler & don't really fit. There still isn't really any "bad" episode of Lost, though. Even the meh ones have things in them that are enjoyable. Was the writer's strike during this season?

k4rizz4

Regarding 3x04 being "a drag" (Trin). Although I've always loved Lost, many of the episodes seem like a bit of a "drag" now after all the excellent TV we've been exposed to in the last 15 years. But to anyone watching it for the first time now, it's worth reminding what TV looked like in the early 2000's. Lost was first of it's kind. The storytelling, the budget, even the pace...a true breakthrough series nobody had experienced before. It paved the way in a lot of ways for the TV we have now.
