Riddley's Nightmare - Chapter 8

Dunya and Stephie are having their showdown!

+++

Riddley watched with concern as Stephie swiftly made her way to the shore, effortlessly gliding through the water. Her augmented strength allowed her to powerfully move her arms in the sea, creating waves that trailed behind her. With this incredible speed, she could easily keep up with the jetskis circling her, their engines roaring. The riders stared in amazement at how a small teenage girl could outpace them using her slender arms.

Riddley saw his sister walking up to the shore, her hands forming a makeshift megaphone as she yelled, "There are faster ways than that, you know!"

After taking Lindsy's advice to heart, Stephie abandoned her usual swimming routine and began running atop the water's surface like Sonic the Hedgehog. Her feet moved so quickly that they barely touched the water, lightly tapping it to maintain momentum. With each passing second, Stephie's speed increased until she moved at the same pace as a Lamborghini car.

Stephie couldn't help but laugh with pure joy as she watched her feet move unbelievably fast, appearing like a blur. She quickly got the hang of it, pushing herself even further and knocking over a jetski that had the audacity to cross her path.

As she neared the beach, Stephie couldn't contain her excitement and jumped into the air, propelling herself from the sandy floor of the shallow water and creating a spray of droplets around her.

Hordes of people on the beach craned their necks and shielded their eyes from the bright sun to watch as Stephie rose higher and higher into the sky. She became a mere speck before plummeting down, hurtling towards a solitary girl standing calmly on the sand, seemingly unfazed by her approaching opponent.

As Stephie whistled through the air, tumbling to the ground like mortar, Lindsy's voice echoed in her head."The one who wins gets to keep his powers and becomes my equal!" she had said.

This was Stephie's chance to become just as awesome as Lindsy, who possessed abilities straight out of a superhero comic book.

To hell with Dunya and that perfect face of hers. Stephie thought as she zeroed in on her enemy and flew in a straight line towards her. There was no way Dunya would stop her from keeping these powers!

Meanwhile, on the beach, Dunya stood her ground. She firmly planted her feet in the warm sand, disregarding the panic of the other beachgoers teeming about her. With a fighting stance, she waited without fear for Bomb-Stephie to come crashing down on her. Lindsy approached Dunya and whispered,

"Hey, pssst, you don't have to stand here, you know. You can also bring the fight to her instead."

Dunya's heart skipped a beat as she heard those words. She bent her knees and launched herself into the air, kicking up sand in all directions and creating a small crater where she had been standing. Riddley watched in awe as the two girls flew towards each other in a straight line, their superpowers on full display. With dazzling speed, they were about to collide in an epic clash, neither of them holding back.

When the two bikini-clad girls made contact and their lithe fists collided with each other's cheeks, a bright flash erupted that could be seen for miles. The sudden burst was quickly followed by a powerful shockwave that shattered all the windows on the east side of town and even caused someone like Lindsy, the Goddess herself, to stumble off balance.

"Wow!" Lindsy's arm dropped to her side after she instinctively shielded her eyes from the flash that was even blinding to her.

Lindsy rebalanced her feet and walked over her brother who lay sprawled in the sand, knocked over by the shockwave.

Her attention was focused entirely on the exciting scene unfolding in the sky where Stephie and Dunya were engaged in a fierce brawl in mid-air, their grunts echoing in the air. Each punch and kick, landing precisely between them, shaking the skies above. It was a terrifying display of power, showcasing the godlike potency these teenage girls now possessed.

Gone were the days of simple catfights with hair pulling and nail scratching. These ordinary-looking girls possessed extraordinary powers that amplified their fighting abilities to an unimaginable level.

They moved with the precision and grace of seasoned fighters, each strike executed flawlessly and with incredible force - strong enough to bring down buildings and level mountains.

After being knocked down by the shockwave, Riddley quickly regained his composure and brushed off the sand from his body before getting back on his feet. He watched with a mix of anxiety and awe as the two girls continued to fight in mid-air while the people on the ground below panicked, scurrying every which way like ants between the stomping feet of giants. Most of the beachgoers had evacuated the beach, apart from a few stragglers, but Riddley did not have the illusion that they were safe.

There was a whole bustling city behind them, with millions of unsuspecting citizens going through their daily lives, unaware of the danger that hung above their heads where two Goddesses were duking it out with each other. Riddley was well-versed in comics and movies, knowing that super-powered fights always resulted in mortal danger for innocent bystanders. With so many people around, the damage to the city would be catastrophic, and the death toll could easily reach hundreds if Dunya and Stephie weren't brought under control.

He marched towards his sister and grasped her arm. "Lindsy! Hey, Lindsy, I'm talking to you!"

Lindsy shot an irritated look at her brother, who was shouting in her face just as things were getting interesting between the two rivals in the air. "What?" she snapped, her tone conveying the message 'This better be important, or you'll regret it.'

"You need to put an end to this!" Riddley grabbed his sister's arm tightly, emphasizing the urgency in his words.

"And why should I do that?" Lindsy said, breaking her hand free and stuffed more popcorn in her mouth while turning her gaze to the fight in the air.

"Look around you. Don't you get it? People are going to get hurt if you don't!"

"Hey!" Riddley slapped his sister on the cheek. "Are you even listening?"

His bravado quickly turned to fear as Lindsy's eyes snapped towards him, burning bright like embers. At that moment, he thought she was about to use her heat vision to incinerate him. He stumbled backward in shock, ending up sitting on his rear.

Riddley shielded his face with his arm, fully expecting to meet his demise for daring to act so boldly. However, nothing happened. Lindsy's eyes returned to normal, and her harsh breaths calmed down. She began speaking again, her gaze still filled with fury. "Tomorrow morning, you will name three cities."

Riddley's eyes widened with shock as the implication of those words sank in. "Nooo," he whispered in disbelief. "You can't do that–"

"And be grateful that I'm not castrating you on the spot!" she cut off his plea.

"Now, let me enjoy the show." With her brother taken care of, Lindsy turned to look up at the sky as she chomped down on some popcorn.

Lindsy knew Dunya and Stephie would put forth their best efforts, especially considering that the victor would retain her abilities.

Dunya's hair danced wildly in the wind as she touched her bottom lip, feeling the warm trickle of blood. The bitch made me bleed! she thought with frustration.

Stephie smirked back at her, fists poised and oozing with confidence. She had already given Dunya quite a beating and was now reveling in her imminent victory. Just a few more punches to that pretty face, and Stephie would maintain her domination over Dunya.

At this moment, Stephie felt like a deity. The idea of having these abilities forever filled her with excitement. Oh, the things she could do with them! Vengeful thoughts danced in her mind as she imagined settling old scores.

Stephie studied Dunya's face and could see the insecurity in her eyes after their intense confrontation, which ended in the former's favor. Stephie tasted blood and was determined to end this quickly, wanting to impress Lindsy with her prowess. With narrowed eyes, she lunged towards Dunya at lightning speed, her knee poised like a spear ready to strike its target.

As she watched Dunya's shocked expression, Stephie curled her lips into a smirk. Dunya was clearly not anticipating this attack. Stephie's knee was already on its way to collide with Dunya's nose, a blow that would most likely render her unconscious and declare Stephie the winner.

She was celebrating too soon, though. Just as her knee was about to hit Dunya's nose, the latter evaded at the last moment.

Dunya circled around Stephie as the latter flew past her in seemingly slow motion and grabbed her by the hair.

Stephie let out a piercing shriek as her head snapped backward.

Dunya leaned in close to Stephie, her lips brushing against her ear. "You thought you had me, didn't you?"

Stephie let out a cry of agony as Dunya continuously hammered her back, laughing like a madwoman as she was able to return the favor. Each punch caused nearby buildings to tremble and fracture under the force of the shockwaves it generated.

Dunya raised her hand, palm open, towards Stephie's back. "Please give my regards to those people down there, will you?"

An energy bolt materialized in Dunya's hand, crackling with life as it grew brighter than the sun and as large as a basketball. Then, with fierce determination, she unleashed it upon her dangling opponent.

Stephie's body was flung away by the blast, hurtling towards the bustling downtown area of the city. Skyscrapers and office towers stood tall, surrounded by thousands of people going about their daily lives. Amid the chaos, Riddley was speeding through the streets on his bike, narrowly avoiding slow-moving cars as he shouted warnings to anyone who would listen. He frantically urged them to evacuate the city as quickly as possible, but his cries were brushed aside as everyone either ignored him or dismissed him as a lunatic.

Then Stephie's flailing body slammed through an office building with a deafening impact, efficiently busting through several load-bearing walls of the tenth floor as if they were made of styrofoam while exploding the bodies of several unsuspecting paper pushers.

Riddley was stunned as he screeched his bike to a halt and watched as Stephie continued to crash through at least three more adjacent buildings. Panic spread among the people on the street, but it was too late.

Riddley looked up and gasped as a shadow loomed over him. One of the buildings began to topple with a deep groan, barreling towards him and threatening to crush him beneath its weight.
