Patreon Development Update 16-02-2023


Hello everyone,

In this release the save system has been completely rewritten to better work with UE 5’s world partition system. Allissa (Girl in tower) has also received her sex scene and story arch and has now been unlocked.


Main Changes:

• Allissa (Girl in tower) story and sex scene.

• Rewritten save system.

• Added – Automatic Turrets

• Added – 9 skill books scattered around the world

• Added – Object inspection mode, for when picking up important finds.


Main Bug Fixes:

• Fixed - Area Zones sometimes did not work.

• Fixed – Creatures did not always save.

• Fixed – Changed “old World money” to “Chips” currency.

• Fixed – Finding the scout dialogue changed to make the objective clearer.

• Fixed – Could not always use reputation points to unlock character items.

• Fixed – Creatures that spawned with negative health did not instant die.

• Fixed – Sexual partners sometimes spawned with two different bodies.

Patreon Development Update 03-02-2023

Hello everyone, just a short update.

I'm still hard at work on the next update; I'm currently redesigning the save system to make it much more efficient; I discovered several issues in it that needed to be corrected now before more quests are added, such as with the next version. In the meantime, I'd like to show you five new skill magazines in the game.

The magazine 3D model was created in Blender, and the artwork was created with Ai image generating software before being modified in Photoshop to remove artifacts and add text. To quote one of my favorite YouTube channels, "What a time to be alive!"

Patreon Development Update 20-01-2023

Hello everyone!

I'm hard at work on the upcoming game update and thought I'd share some of the items that will be included.

The main focus of this update is Allissa's tower, her romance, and her questline, as well as various additional parts needed to complete her quest line and that of other factions such as the New United Republic.

Turrets are being added to the game. The Mojave is a dangerous place, and occasionally you need to secure an area. Turrets are the perfect solution to the problem, until they are destroyed or deactivated that is. As a result, you may now locate skill books and magazines in the wasteland to help you improve your most important skills and fix what was destroyed.

I also hope to complete the New United Republic's storyline and have it ready to add to the game soon.

All of this leads us closer to the main plot and questline.

Patreon Development Update 06-01-2023


Hello everyone,

I hope you had a wonderful holiday season and had some time to rest!

I'd like to thank everyone for your support through 2022; without you, this game, and my dream of creating it would not exist. This year will be filled with big milestones to finish the story quests and add lots more scenes, weapons, gear, and lore, and I can't wait to share them with you.

As you are probably aware, a Patreon funded project such as River's End is reliant on Patreon support, and the more Patreons a project has, the faster milestones can be completed because the project can afford external assistance such as animation artists, etc. As a result, it is vital that we expand the community and publish images and videos on social media in order to get support and raise visibility for the game.

Patreon Development Update 15-12-2022


A “minor” game update (0.12.2.1) has been released, prepping dialogue for the questline to continue.


Changes:

• Added dialogue to United Republic Military Camp.

• Added interactable quest items for upcoming quests.

• Added waypoints to quests.

• Changed weather settings, to allow for more thunderstorms.

• Performance Increases

• Fixed - At specific sand openings, one could occasionally fall through the world. – Thanks, Chestercat

Patreon Development Update 09-12-2022


Hello everyone, a quick update.


I'm still working on the next Patreon (Gold) game update; I planned to have it done today but will be unable to do so; I expect to have it ready in the next week. I'm exploring a potential performance boost, and it's led me down a rabbit hole.


The free public build will offer a lower Patreon tier:

For a short test period, the free public build will have an unlock section in game where players may enter an unlock code to gain access to additional Patreon benefits; this is to provide a cheaper tier to individuals who want to support the project but can't afford it (different countries has different exchange rates).

The "Gold" or $10 tier will have everything in the Silver "tier" plus the full game of course.

Also, there is a Poll up for all Patreons to vote on the most crucial item for the upcoming updates, so please check it out if you haven't already. Link 


Finally, the free public build will be updated shortly, so if you played the previous free version, make sure to grab the current one, and consider becoming a Patreon as this project would not be possible without your support.

Hello everyone!

As the weekend approaches, I want to wish you a happy, safe, and peaceful weekend!

We'll be testing the next game update and expect to have it ready for you by the middle of next week. This includes both a Patreon and a public version.

Today we are excited to bring you news that the 0.12.2.0 update is ready to download and install! You can view the patch notes below to see what is included in this update.

A new player house can be found next to the River’s End bar, the house in not yet introduced through story however, the player can already utilize it. Also, all saved or purchased slaves can be found there.

Known bugs:

Potential NPC and AI issues should be expected; good AI is by far the most difficult part of any game. Because this is the initial implementation of Project Blue Moon's AI, expect bugs. Some may be funny, while others will be annoying. Please report any issues to our discord and we will address them.

Development Update


I apologies for the absence of updates; I've been working on a problem in UE5 that has necessitated a complete redesign of the AI and NPC systems; this system is currently very near to "completion," and I plan to have the next update ready by the end of the month.

A lot of sleepless hours and late nights went into the redesign because there appears to be no solution to this particular fault in Unreal Engine, which has supposedly been with the engine since version 4.18 and still troubles certain AAA games today. Unfortunately, this is sometimes how development goes and solutions must be found.

I'm pleased to report that, although not flawless, the current state of the AI provides a good foundation upon which to grow and iterate on some complexities.

Here are the highlights; keep in mind that this update includes more than simply AI and NPCs; more on that later.

· NPCs follow a daily schedule.

· Have a bed to sleep in, food to eat, and tasks to perform.

· Can communicate with each other, and the player.

· Can “speak out loud”.

· Follows a faction and helps other faction members.

· Can respond to you committing “crimes” against their faction

· Depending on their characteristics, they will attack enemies or flee and hide.

· If an NPC does not have a weapon, they will look for one nearby.

· NPCs spawn appropriate loot.

· NPS have aggressive, confident, assistive, and moral stats and behave appropriately.

Patreon Development Update 24-06-2022

Hi everyone,

Our first Unreal Engine 5 release is currently available. As previously said, this is not a large feature upgrade, but it is substantial under the hood.

Switching to UE5 was vital for me since it is a game engine focused on an open world environment, and it has many features that make our workflows more efficient, which is critical for a small development team like ours.

The main change in this version is improved performance, which has grown by 10 frames per second on average, a promising start. New features in UE5 will allow us to add more detail to the world while maintaining framerate.

So, where are we now?

The team is really pleased with the game's current state; a lot of work went into it, some of which is visible when playing, but the majority of which is hidden in code. We believe that now is an excellent time to begin polishing our pre-alpha game, as the majority of systems have been designed and implemented.

We'll devote as much time as we can to fixing bugs. (By the way, you'd be surprised how tough it is to find bugs; fixing them is simple, but finding them is challenging.)

We intend to focus completely on plot and content once the majority of bugs have been fixed (and the bugs associated with implementing the new content). There is a lot that needs to be added to the game and world, and this will be the time to do it, a time that we have all been looking forward to.

Among our first goals, we'll concentrate on quests to unlock items and meet new people.

The United Republic Army

Hello everyone!

Last time we talked about the United Republic, this time we’ll tell you about the United Republic Army.

The organization's armed forces are known as the UR army. Troopers are made up of both conscripted and voluntary personnel, and enrollment begins at the age of eighteen. The army pledges that no UR soldier or ally will be left behind, which means a lot for families and towns alike, because small towns don't have a lot of strong and healthy youth, and risking their lives defending another town is sometimes not worth it. The Army also offers prospective recruits privileges as well as financial security, which is uncommon in the Mojave. This makes joining the army incredibly appealing, and it is one of the reasons the United Republic is one of the most powerful groups in the area.

Next, we'll cover the Duke and his family, one of the area's most powerful raider groups.

Our first Unreal Engine 5 game version will be released soon; we apologize for the delay, but there are reasons... The transition to the new engine was not as simple as expected. We’ll also give an update of the current state of the game and our next steps.

The New United Republic Faction

Good day, everyone. 

As you may be aware, Project Blue Moon is set in a post-nuclear United States, and there are various factions that play important roles in the Mojave. Today, we'd like to introduce our first major faction, the United Republic. This faction was inspired, among other things, by the film "The Day After - 1983," in which at the end of the film, the few remaining “authorities” try to establish some form of order amongst the chaos and start producing food.

If you haven't seen the film yet, I strongly recommend you do; it's not the "greatest" apocalyptic film out there, but it is the one that best demonstrated the horrors of a nuclear war to me.

The new United Republic began as a community of survivors from the old world, with farms in the region banding together to feed survivors. It became rapidly clear that managing large amounts of people and resources required some type of system to keep order, some sort of governance to allocate responsibilities to individuals, as a result, the United Republic was formed, a system modeled on the old and well-known United States of America.

Citizenship is granted to both humans and later mutated humans through a provisional process that includes training. Applicants must be peaceful and law-abiding citizens who are not involved in raiding or enslavement.

The United Republic receives applications and petitions for membership from villages, towns, bases, and city-states that want to join the republic. Those who live in United Republic territories must register as citizens and pay the necessary taxes.

The laws that govern the United Republic and its territories differ depending on location. Bounties are given for specific targets, and both severe crimes committed in the Mojave and defection from the army are punished by death. Those who indulge in illegal gambling or the selling of unauthorized chems or slaves face arrest.

In our next update we will discuss the United Republic Army, their outfits and usual camp layouts.

Quick Update


After a two-week battle with um... "new engine teething difficulties," Project Blue Moon has finally been updated to Unreal Engine 5. We're very excited to convert to UE 5, and even though the engine was released prematurely (in our opinion), it's still worth the work to integrate the project.

What's the point?

We'll, if you haven't seen what the new UE5 engine has to offer, I recommend you visit the Unreal Engine YouTube channel and check out their Matrix demo, which is absolutely astounding, the degree of detail that game developers can achieve in an open environment with near limitless polygons while running 60fps on consoles is a game changer.

Second, UE5 introduces Lumen, a new raytracing enabled global elimination system designed for open world games, we'll look at implementing it in Blue Moon, Lumen has harsh minimum system requirements, so we'll see if it's scalable and feasible.

You'll hear a lot more from us about UE5 in the future; we're extremely excited to work with the new engine. However, reaching the engine's full potential will take time, and they'll need to do some bug fixing before all of the new systems are stable.

Patreon Development Update 04-04-2022

Finally, there are human enemies in Blue Moon!

We've been working hard over the previous few weeks to add two-legged NPCs and creature AI.

Finally, raiders, scavs, slaves, and mutants can be introduced into towns and villages.

Because integrating competent AI is a challenging task, the AI will evolve over time and become more competent as the game advances.

NPCs are divided into factions, and each faction has a viewpoint on the other factions; your actions have a direct impact on these viewpoints. Some factions are hostile from the start, while others "permit" you to commit "crimes" against them before becoming hostile. Corpses also generate various loot items, so be sure to look for them before moving on.

We'll talk about the first big faction in the next update and we'll have some pictures, but for now, we're busy building bases.

Development Update! 07-02-2022


Attention wanderer!

It's time for a new game update.

I've spent the last few months fine-tuning sexual encounters, animations, and options, and I'm now satisfied with how it works to the point where I can start implementing more scenes and romanceable characters, and eventually continue with the story.

There are several features I'd like to implement, but they may have to wait until UE5 because they involve fluid and physics, lots, and lots of fluid physics...

I'll hold a poll soon to see how you, my valued patrons, think I should approach updates, whether I should spend more time/effort on sexual scenes and locations or let it grow organically as I write and implement the main story.


Here are the most noteworthy changes for this update,

  • Interactive menu when you right click on a character.
  • Adjustable perspiration (sweat) for those hot events.
  • We’re adding happy endings to all scene poses, at the moment there is 10.

Development Update! 17-12-2021


Attention wanderer!

It's time for a game update.

This was supposed to be a small and quick update before moving on to adding story and NPCs, but it turned out to be much more complicated due to the performance issues in the previous update. The performance issue has now been resolved (it was a UE4.27 issue that occurred after we updated the game engine to the most recent UE (4.27).)

This update is primarily a polishing update; here are the highlights:

  • Added Coco to the world
  • Added Scorpion cave
  • A Dune buggy has been added (Vehicles is now drivable but is not stable, is recommended to save before entering the buggy, the buggy has been implemented to save time between objectives)
  • Added strand-based hair (Strand-based hair consumes a lot of resources, which can be adjusted under Options – Display.)
  • Added piercings for partners to be unlocked
  • Added extra animations for partners to be unlocked
  • Added AMD FidelityFX™ Super Resolution (Settings under “Options – Display”)

Development Update! 03-12-2021

Fooling Around - (We use the term "fooling around" to refer to having a sexual encounter with an NPC because most social media websites do not allow the use of more adult words or phrases.)

Our goal with fooling around is to provide both a quick screw and a more sophisticated story-driven relationship-building "fool around" experience.

Some actors in the game will tell you a short story and unlock the ability to be "fooled"; usually, these actors are prostitutes or slaves, but in some cases (such as River), you'll develop a relationship with the character to unlock fooling around with them. These characters have a story arc and a quest line, and as a reward for reaching major milestones in their relationships, they will reward you with:

  • A sexual story in which you play as their partner; these are the character's "memories," and they usually transport you to a beautiful, unique location where they had "Fun" in that memory.
  • A sexual encounter in which you interact as your player character.
  • A sexual encounter with themselves in which you control their toys.

Regular XP points will continue to be earned and used to unlock various hairstyles, clothing, piercings, tattoos, and positions with all “foolable” NPCs.

This provides a wide range of enjoyable and one-of-a-kind adult "experiences" in a single game.

Adelle discovered at River's End is "foolable" at this time by finding and then reading a letter discovered in her room. This quest line can be started by speaking with River; during the quest, you'll meet two more characters who will become "foolable" in the next update.

Attention wanderer! River’s End Chapter 1 - v1.12++


Attention wanderer! 

It's time to meet the locals; will you be loved or feared? All that matters is that you rise to the top; after all, it's a man eat man world out there and you haven’t eaten for days.

This is the first release of Project Blue Moon – River's End NSFW DLC; a lot of work went into bringing all the systems together into one coherent experience; it's not yet perfect, but we believe it's a solid foundation on which to build. This release is basic and short but A TON of new content is on the way, including new experiences, new twists in character stories, and a lot more adult interactions with multiple toy unlocks, pose unlocks, and sexual mini games. 

This is only the tip... of the iceberg.


Fooling around (our synonym for adult interactions)

As previously stated, fooling around interactions employ a new animation system that will be expanded upon in future updates; it features complete character simulation from the characters' mouths to their lower extremities. Items can now be pressed up against various body parts, including realistic penetrations.

Although the system is partially operational, it will be fully implemented in stages so that we can identify and fix problems as they arise.

Strand-based hair simulation will also be added soon, allowing for extremely realistic hair simulations.


Characters:

We'd like to introduce you to a few of the characters who will play important roles in River's End. As the story progresses, more characters will be introduced. These characters will be romance-able both by a male or female player character.

  • River (Future “romance-able” Character)
  • Adelle (Currently “romance-able”)
  • Coco (Future “romance-able” Character)
  • Rachelle (Future “romance-able” Character)
  • More coming soon including Males.


Major Game-play / Features:

  • Meet the first intractable characters, learn everything you can about them, and use them to get what you want. Begin forming relationships.
  • Adult interaction, AKA romance-able relationship with Adelle.
