Angel writers don’t care about consistency and continuity. The amount of retconning of Gunn character is frankly ridiculous. Everything in this episode contradicts what was established when we were introduced to Gunn and everything we have learned from him so far in the show.

2022-04-09 20:37:04 +0000 UTChe said, and I quote, there's a "dump truck of videos" dropping today, so I assume he'll be dropping multiples of some shows to catch up. At least 2 Merlin, 2 Farscape, and 2 Buffy should be coming along with SG1/SGA over the weekend.

2022-04-07 07:35:49 +0000 UTCYou've never seen a connection between Cordy and Wes? Have you seen season 1 and 2? Cordy was even the only one he confided in about liking Fred. They're probably the closest friends after Cordy/Angel! They've referred to each other as family since the first season

2022-04-06 19:21:34 +0000 UTCYeah, I think I struggle with how they start to write Gunns character from this point. That's all I can say right now, but maybe you know what I'm getting at.

2022-04-06 17:09:32 +0000 UTCIf he didn't think he had a future, then just steal the truck

2022-04-06 16:58:32 +0000 UTCYeah, it's like Fred's like about "your soul isn't worth AC". That truck doesn't look like it was going to sell for more than a couple thousand, and that's WITH 7 years less usage than we see. I'm no expert, but the truck looks like a late 70s to mid 80s model, so by 1995 it would already have a bunch of miles and years on it. Granted coming up with a couple thousand might be a big ask for that group, but not impossible. Still like he said, he didn't think he had a future at the time, and didn't think a soul was a big deal, which is the only think that sells it.

2022-04-06 15:53:40 +0000 UTCI agree; it would have been more impactful from Cordy and more of a blow to Wesley considering their history.

2022-04-06 15:25:25 +0000 UTCI was a little bothered by the fact that Gunn would seek out a demon also, to make a deal with, especially considering his friends attitudes towards demons, and the fact that a vampire killed his sister. He could have easily have stolen a car.

2022-04-06 15:16:17 +0000 UTCI think Fred is genuinely concerned about Wes, she doesn't want to see him get hurt, she's known him long enough for that at least. I've never really seen a connection between Wes and Cordy. IMO I think Fred was the right person to come visit him, after all, she's the innocent one in the bunch, and if she's telling you to stay away, then you know it must be serious. Plus, there was a little bit of a romantic possibility there, and there never was with Cordy, so again, Fred does have a slightly different and unique bond with Wes. But overall, I think she's just saying it cause she doesn't want him to get hurt. Plus, Cordy was busy consoling Angel, so she was in the right place doing the right thing.

2022-04-06 15:14:29 +0000 UTCThe fact that Fred went to see Wesley to tell him to never come back to the Hotel has always bugged me, that should have been Cordelia if anything. Fred is a newbie and she's there commanding Wes? Come onnn. I actually liked this episode more than I remember. I love when Gunn gets moments to shine, and his backstory is so interesting and rare on this show. Practically every Angel/Cordelia scene made me tear up too, their bond is so special and Cordy is the only one who could talk to him and he actually listens.

2022-04-06 09:35:45 +0000 UTCHope everything's OK FW. You didn't seem to be your usual self in this vid. This is an meh episode for me. I'm glad they took time out for Angel and Cordy, but I think more time could have been spent on the aftermath, including Cordy going to speak with Wesley. I don't mind Gunn and Fred, but I feel it diminishes his character a bit, and all the lovey dovey stuff is a bit much after a while. I also think it's daft that Gunn would not only make a deal with a demon at that point in his life but that he would do it for a truck. Yes, younger people make daft decisions sometimes, and like he said, he didn't think a 'soul' was a big deal; however, the old Gunn that we knew would never have made a deal with a demon and if he needed a car that badly he had so many connections, I'm sure he could have found one.

2022-04-06 07:26:15 +0000 UTCThank you for the reaction, just watched it. I think the penis joke went past you: "He's very fortunate to have a woman looking after his weapon" lol, I giggled, but I'm immature. This episode is a nice misdirect, first, we expect it to be Angel they are after, but it's really Gunn, so that's a nice misdirect. I think this kind of episode was needed after the last couple, a winding down, and it shows everyone else on Angel's side this time, except Wes, and everyone against him, which is a new dynamic. And this episode shows Angel is staying loyal to his friends this time, not running away, so there's some growth there for him. Also, since Wes is not there, I guess Angel is the boss again.

2022-04-06 02:19:35 +0000 UTCI think the idea that Gunn sold his soul at some point in his past is a perfectly fine idea, and I do like how it was executed overall, but it's one of those cases where it feels oddly placed. I mean they did touch on the loss of Connor and Angel's subsequent depression, Wesley being cut off from the gang, etc... The main story just felt a little too "business as usual" so soon after though. Also I get that he was trying to keep her away from Jenoff, but Gunn could have handled that about a hundred better ways. That was just brutal. The reaction to the soul sucking was pretty funny though.
