"compromised michael shanks? those are always good episodes"

Aww, hell yeah. The change to the P90. So much cooler of a weapon, and incredibly symbolic of this show.

Ragnarok

This is one of my favorite episodes. In fact, the Season 4 ep I always skip is Window of Opportunity. I will say that I have even more appreciation for this ep after listening to the director's commentary on it. One interesting thing--that part where Daniel runs into the lake to escape? MS decided to do that on the spur of the moment (he evidently is a very good swimmer) however the water wasn't very clean--contaminated with something.

I know people are split on it, but I actually like this episode because it gives us a little background on the Goa'uld that fills in what they were like before they were a galactic empire. It also is sort of a back door setup for some really important things that come later, but you won't realize it until they happen, which is always cool.

The greatest example of this is Star Trek TNG Darmok. Shaka when the walls fell.

Agreed on Sanctuary. Sam Carter is the reason I watch Stargate and it would be great if he followed Amanda Tapping to Sanctuary

This is far from my favorite episode. On rewatches, this is one of the very few I skip. There was nothing wrong with it, it just didn't do anything for me.

Holiday1021

I just realize that too.

Lol failwhale noticed the p90 immediately a lot of reactors don't. What a legend

Ba'alWhale34

That's the tragedy of exploration.

Hi, new patron here! Just wanted to say that 1) I'm just patiently waiting until you fall completely in love with Sam Carter so I can try to convince you to watch Sanctuary, a show Amanda Tapping stars on and created with Martin Wood (who you like already!) and Damian Kindler. And 2) I guess this episode shows why practically everyone in the galaxy speaks English in the sg1 universe, because otherwise every episode would be similar to this one. So sad you didn't enjoy it, I personally like how Chaka and Daniel get to know each other :)

I feel really bad for Rothman. He just wanted to come along to help Daniel.

Teth

I like this episode a lot. The design of the Unas who took Daniel was in my eyes relly good. You could see the emotion of the Unas perfectly.

I did not find it bland, but I did find it kind of flat. However, the parts I did like is the history of the Goa'uld. We really learned a lot about them as a species in this episode. Including the fact that the primitive Goa'uld did not have Naqudah in their system. So at some point in their evolution, Naquadah became a component, was it natural or self-induced, or did outside influences cause it? These are all questions we should now be asking.

Brent Justice

I like this one. It's perhaps not as good as the episodes that surround it within this season. I could see how you might find it bland comparatively. But I disagree, I quite like it.

Daryl

It's funny - I always associate Stargate with the P90 - I guess this is the episode where it changed; and they really 'hung a lantern on it'; I wonder why now.

Martin Nicholls

Always loved this episode. Definitely a favourite.

SG fans tend to be rather divided when it comes to unas, particularly eps like this that lean so heavily on them. I like it well enough because it's Daniel being Daniel, but I know a lot of people who cant stand this episode. Also Rothman may have been annoying at times, but he deserved better. I also liked the callback to the movie when Daniel says thats how he met his father in law. I never forget the scene where Kasuf tries the 5th Avenue bar and he's all like "banne wey!!". If nothing else, SG1 did get an upgrade to their arsenal this episode. The P90s are cool for sure, and their armor piercing 5.7mm rounds should be better against jaffa armor than 9mm, not that that's been an issue for a while. I notice when O'Neill shot Rothman they were still using the MP5 sound effect. Guess they hadn't recorded the sound of the P90 firing before the ep released.

Timothy Nikiforovs

One of my favorite eps, I'm always a sucker for meeting and communicating and learning about new people and expanding the lore.. I also love Daniel episodes like this. Sorry you didn't like it, it totally ticked all my SG1 boxes.

indaeo

I enjoy this ep a lot, but I'll admit the "become friends via learning to communicate" trope works on me every time. I can see how this wouldn't hit. The B plot was nothing, and the showdown at the end was underwhelming. Very small stakes episode.
