Lot of fantasy stuff has them as two-headed giants from what I've seen. Makes sense, the Goa'uld are the second head in the host.

2020-06-23 01:20:10 +0000 UTCcareful, only the Asgard were confirmed as one of the 4 in that episode

2020-06-22 00:35:05 +0000 UTCRemember Heliopolis, Ernest Littlefield's planet? You have now met TWO of the Four races represented...

2020-06-22 00:04:11 +0000 UTCAre you double uploading stargate or did you just mean in general you’d have an extra tv show reaction this weekend?

2020-06-20 21:29:27 +0000 UTC.Dude! Thank you for letting me know commentaries for this even existed! I've rewatched all the SG stuff countless times by now but never thought to look for commentaries because I've always streamed and caught it on tv before that, so thank you!

2020-06-20 19:26:53 +0000 UTCTHOR!!! Out of all of the alien allies that Stargate Command have, The Asgard are my absolute favorite and Thor is the best! Thor's Chariot has one of the best entrances for a spacecraft in the series. I think this is the episode that really kicked off season 2 for me. I can't wait for more Stargate reactions!

2020-06-20 18:20:01 +0000 UTCAwesome reaction bro, these are the real Asgard, not the Marvel ones! The true might of Thor is a badass spaceship capable of beaming everything in seconds! OP technology.

2020-06-20 16:30:05 +0000 UTCYeah, I hadn't noticed it before but after watching the reaction, I realized not only are they taking the Jaffa, they're also deleting the structures! That's some OP tech, Asgard! :O

2020-06-20 16:28:38 +0000 UTCwait really? double upload of sg1 this weekend? :O yes!!

2020-06-20 16:27:28 +0000 UTC"Pi to 5 digits is forever etched in my mind because of this episode." I can relate

2020-06-20 14:53:14 +0000 UTCI always felt like SG-1 is sort of a pre-Star Trek. Star Trek has already reached an utopian future, but in Stargate they're taking the first steps out into the unknown to learn and discover, and hopefully grow wiser in the process.

2020-06-20 12:03:23 +0000 UTCAnd here you have probably one of my favorite ship design in SG-1. The Asgards are quite the artists in designing their stuff :)

2020-06-20 09:11:18 +0000 UTCWell there you have it, The Asgard :) On how they compare to the Nox, at least you are thinking about that, and the hierarchy of "power" in the universe. I like that you are on that level and thinking stuff like that. From this episode, the Asgard seems very powerful, maybe even possibly above the Goa'uld if they are able to completely dismantle a Goa'uld settlement that easily.

2020-06-20 06:04:50 +0000 UTCThe Asgard! I've been looking forward to this! Also another episode that shows there are consequences when SG-1 screws up. Thousands died because they saved Teal'c.

2020-06-20 05:49:23 +0000 UTCWhat it dooski: even when you don’t say it, you say it. You weren’t wrong about the resemblance between Ettins and Ents. Ettins is an Old English (Anglo-Saxon) word meaning “giants”. It makes sense a primitive Germanic culture like the Cimmerians would refer to the Goa’uld as Ettins. Ettins is also the source of the name for Treebeard’s kind, the Ents of Middle-earth.

2020-06-20 03:06:26 +0000 UTCOh! I've been meaning to mention, I fell asleep with your YouTube channel on last week which resulted in a dream where we had convinced you to react to more than one episode each week. Happy to hear we get a double upload this weekend ! <3 <3

2020-06-20 01:32:31 +0000 UTCPi to 5 digits is forever etched in my mind because of this episode. Also, like Spider-Man, I'm fascinated by how much emotion can be conveyed through a simple narrowing and widening eyespace in an otherwise emotionless visage. On a side note about commentaries - one of them includes the lyrics to the opening theme song which I've always thought was fun. <3

2020-06-20 01:24:35 +0000 UTCLoved your reaction to the Asgard true form and his yeet to them out of the hall of might. Stargate was very good at continuity.
2020-06-20 01:05:40 +0000 UTCI loved this one. It developed the universe a lot and showed us the goa'uld aren't necessarily top dog in the galaxy, and that there are good guys who can give them an ass kicking. I also kind of like that they went with the classic "Roswell grey" look for the asgard just to mess with expectations. It was also a good choice from a narrative point of view for us to see SG1 face consequences for screwing up. I don't know how many people were on Cimmeria, but half of them died because of SG1. That's gotta result in some restless nights. The guy who plays Heru'er previously played Apophis' new first prime in the season opener. Guess he got promoted. Teal'c should have stuck around till the company benefits package kicked in. Also "things will not calm down Daniel Jackson. They will in fact calm up" is a legendary Teal'cism. Also maybe it's just me, but I always found Carter trying to take blame when she did nothing to destroy the hammer kind of adorable. It's kinda cool finding out she can use goa'uld tech. I'd be taking that stuff along on every mission. Would probably be OP if she figured out how to do the shield thing from The Nox though. I think RDA only became an exec producer in the second season. I've been watching through on DVD and in one of the commentaries he says something along the lines of they made him an EP because it was the best way to make him take his job seriously or something. The commentaries are actually pretty cool to see the behind the scenes dynamic on set. The cast and crew clearly had a lot of fun making the show, much like The Expanse.

2020-06-20 01:04:24 +0000 UTCThis was the episode that got me hooked. There were many reasons... Thor (God of ban hammers); SG-1 revisiting a world to see that they had made mistakes and needed to be careful how they explored; and also that the episode resolved and didn't give SG-1 a cheat code. It pretty much sums up my favorite part of this show. In Star Trek we see humanity after it grew up a bit. Idilic society, philosophical resolutions... But also it was kinda too perfect. Like humanity was face rolling the game. In SG-1 we see them screw up ALL THE TIME. But they learn and grow... and focus a lot on the interpersonal strengths as a means to resolve issues (even when they caused them). It means that when the "big episodes" come, they aren't just flashy and entertaining... they have some real substance to them.
