3:28 "theyre not gonna pick you" why would you even say that? also 14:25 got me thinking of "war....war never changes"

Timothy Nikiforovs

Yes! Pledging once again for this series. To hell with financial responsibilities, I need some Hunger games 😊

Sandra

Catching Fire is my favorite!

Nikki Sonrisa

I would suggest reading the books if you want more backstory about the world in which they live. considering that the book is told from Katniss' perspective, they did a pretty great job adapting it into a film. the books and films are very political and you get to see more about this in greater depth in the next one, which I hope you'll watch. also, the reason the "rule" was changed was to add more drama to the games. remember, that the Hunger Games are broadcast for an audience so the idea is to make it interesting and full of drama for the people watching. what better way to add more drama than to make the final two from the same district think they have a chance to win together and then take that away from them in the final act?

Nikki Sonrisa

1st time I actually managed to sit all the way through this (although was playing games on my phone) Not really my kind of thing I guess, just seems like a watered down version of the Japanese movie Battel Royale. Also the capital just looked like an explosion happened in Lady Gaga's wardrobe.

Chris

Seneca Crane is from the interstellar btw! Thats probs where you know him from

Rue obviously reminded her of her sister, she saw her sister in her. The disconnected feeling from everyone is meant to convey how use they are to the system, the big discovery is that you can defy the capitol, in 74 hunger games, 74 years, no one has challenged them, just given in, that's important. The rule thing was never really a rule to begin with, you have to realize what president snow said here, some hope is ok, you can quell it, but too much hope is bad, he has to give just a hint of hope in a victor, but not enough for pride to settle in and districts get too prideful over a winner. So saying two can win, was just a way for them to pit her and pita together so they could fight each other and have just 1 victor. But they ended up defying Snow, and that's the point here, and that is something they didn't think would ever happen. BTW, the dude who let her go because she cared about Rue were from the same district.

Sorry for the full paragraph. I would heavily recommend reading the books after you finish this.

Shade Koar

The Hunger Games was the first book series I ever fully finished before a movie adaptation was made. We were reading it for our English class and I was so enraptured by the writing that I ended up reading so far ahead that I finished it before the class had even reached halfway through the second book. It's written in first-person so I think that can be a bit difficult to translate into movie format. Without an inner dialog or any commentary from Katniss half of the book is lost. She states many times her reasoning for her actions, most notably her "feelings" for Peta and her ally-ship with Rue. A lot of scenes like Haymitch and the sponsors, or the inner workings of the Games, Snow in his garden, were not in the book. Those scenes exist only to give depth to the outside world where in the book it is purely the perspective of Katniss and nothing else. This leads to many things being much more suspenseful as you don't have the outer perspective. The first movie turns an unfortunate girls harrowing experience into an audience view of a game show. I feel that the second movie does the story far more justice however. The final two are also much better but Catching Fire is definitely the best adaptation of the series.

Shade Koar

Nice reaction! It would be interesting if after you go through this series, check out the Japanese film "Battle Royale" from the 90s. It's the same concept, but played more horror-ish.

Trey Moore

It’s way more fleshed out in the book, but Katniss absolutely was playing up the “romance” with Peeta at first for the sponsors. Haymitch’s message “you call that a kiss” was a hint for her that it played well, but she has to do better. As for your comment that none of them seemed all that upset about the situation they were in, we mostly saw the “career” tributes. The tributes from districts 1, 2, and 4 basically train for their whole lives to be in the Games and volunteer for it. They were all incredibly confident they would win. Cato actually had body armor hidden under his outfit in the book

Jobard

Awesome reaction as always. As someone pointed out, the movie doesn't do a great job at making this as obvious as the book where of course you can read Katniss's thoughts, but she's not actually in love with Peta. All of that was for the cameras to get them sponsors. Rue's whole story is also something I wish they had more time to develop in the movie, but besides those two things I think this is actually one of the better book adaptations in general and it mostly kept all the important stuff in.

Hayden Smith

Exactly. When you're afraid and alone it's pretty natural for people to cling to each other for comfort, even if you technically know both of you can't survive.

Teth

In the books if I am not mistake (read them years ago), it is explained that Katniss is doing what she has to do to survive and protect Peta but does not love him like it’s depicted in the movie. By using the sentence in the movie Let’s just forget and peta saying he doesn’t wanna forget, I think it was their way to say they were not totally on the same page towards their feelings but the movie did a poor execution of explaining that because if you never read the books, it leaves you wondering. Anyway I cannot wait for the other reactions!

Elise Lanciault-Breton

Just finished your reaction. A few thoughts! I get you on the Roux bit. In the books they do a better job of explaining that Katniss sees her as a bit of a surrogate for her little sister and vice versa. Roux sees a girl who she thinks she can trust based on why she is there. Also, I cannot agree more that Katniss should have grabbed the rest of the bags. That would have been the smart thing to do.

Miss Timi Fantastico

With Rue I think that she knew as everyone did, that Katniss was a big sister and protective of her little sister and she was drawn to that sisterly/mothering vibe she got from her and knew instinctively that she wasn't going to kill her, and Katniss was likely the same, seeing in Rue the little sister that could have been there instead of her and in a life or death situation people do form intense bonds very quickly, so I felt the realism in that. The books portray more depth than the movies do, but I do like the movies.

Jayna

Looking forward to Catching Fire! YA fiction is usually of dubious quality but this series is great.

Teth

Sweet love these movies, next one is my favorite.

Silvern7552

Woohoo! Really excited to see what you think about this series. Love these and the books. Here I go!

Miss Timi Fantastico

next-one cometh quick time
