Weekly Progress Update [9/OCT]

Hey all, hope you had a great week!!

I finally got some writing done after all the planning for CH10, though I think the initial goal of this 20k a month may have been a tad bit optimistic. I got about 3k words done lol, but let's see if I can ramp up the word count this coming week while I'm getting back into a regular writing schedule!

LI POV scenes

I've worked more on D's POV scene and got started on R's POV scene as well. While D's and X's POV scenes are more about what they're up to while they're on their own missions away from the Crown, R's and A's POV scenes further their subplots a substantial amount 👀

I won't give away any previews or spoilers for right now, but as A and R spend more time with the Crown in CH10, there will be more room for their character and romance arcs to grow! That is not to say X and D won't get any development on that front, but theirs will be consisting more of hints and foreshadowing for the time being.

When I first started writing the story I considered whether it would be realistic to have each LIs subplot progress at the same time, at the same rate. While that would be much easier to write for me, I decided it would make both the character and the romance progression feel artificial, as it would be timed intentionally rather than developed naturally.

So that's why there may be differences in each individual chapter for how quickly an LI or a romance progresses. It will all eventually equal in the same amount of content as more chapters get written, just at differing speeds. 

Though of course that also means a lot more variation for me to write lol. An R romancing Crown will have a very different experience in CH10 compared to an X romancing Crown, for example!

Crown development

On a more lighthearted note, I also planned on some fun time-skip scenes to develop the Crown's skills further. In a previous update I already went into the different subjects the Crown will be tutored in and the player choice given to which ones your Crown will prefer, but there's more personal development to be done!

Namely, the Crown's magic training as well as their physical training will both be shown more in-depth, since those lend themselves more to a visual, active scene rather than sitting through exposition given to you by a tutor lecturing you on Arsurian trade routes.

I like to think of CH10 to be a recovery chapter both from a plot perspective as well as a character perspective, both in the mental and physical sense. The Crown ended CH9 completely exhausted, so CH10 is a great moment to allow them to rest, recover, and start building a more solid foundation for themselves in terms of mental/physical health.

It's nuts what a good night's sleep, consistent meals and healthy exercise can do for your body. I promise the Crown's back/posture problems will soon improve lol. 

As well as, the Crown finally having a safe space to explore and learn more about their own magic! An inner magic type Crown is also going to have different variations here compared to an outer magic type Crown, so that will be fun write as they practice!! I'm really looking forward to getting to it, the magic scenes have been some of my absolute favorite things to write in this story ✨

Not much else to report on this week!! I hope these two tidbits gave you a bit more insight into what CH10 is shaping up to look like.
