Hello, everyone. Space Marine Steve here.
I have some really sad news about the production of Kill Team Challenger: Season 2 - it has been cancelled. I'm sure that there are going to be many reactions to this news depending on how invested you were in the series, in me as a player, the concept, and as one of our fans.
I respect you all too much to give you some kind of corporate business answer, your standard press release kind of thing... I'm just going to hit you with the truth.
As it turns out, the release of the new Kill Team rules came at the worst possible time, worse than we first anticipated. At first it appeared to be a good thing, I mean... who wouldn't be excited about a new game, right? However, we had already filmed almost 80% of the series when the announcement came; all that footage, organizing players, voice overs, sponsors, everything... gone.
I put a lot of myself into this series and the team rallied around me to make it happen. I was (and still am) very deflated by the reality of the situation.

While the new game looks exciting and it does represent a great opportunity for us one day, the resources here at Play On are finite. To accomplish what we do, we go through an intense process of scheduling, planning, preparation, etc... and there isn't time this season to go back and re-plan and re-shoot, (trust me - we looked, we tried, it doesn't fit) let alone learn the game to a standard I am ready to film with.
On a side note... what if it isn't great? While unlikely, what if I didn't like it or the game wasn't good? Here at Play On, our passion for what we do fuels our dedication to the quality of the work and you deserve the best that we can do. If I'm not passionate about it (which none of us can guarantee) then I might not be passionate about the show which means that you will see that, game after game... not what you signed up for.
Right now, Play On is cranking out some fantastic 40k content and we have some wonderful new shows in production, so I hope that you will all enjoy what we are releasing now and for the rest of the season.
If you are disappointed, know that I share in your disappointment. I am taking this experience as a life lesson in resilience and trying my best to move on - we've all got to keep moving forward. Kill Team Challenger was a place for me to be creative, play games with my friends, and bring a little bit of myself to a regular show on the channel. While it is hard to say 'good bye' to it and all the work we've done, it was the right thing to do for Play On Tabletop.
I am still a fiercely dedicated member of Play On Tabletop and won't be going anywhere, we just all need to focus on different things now and that is the way it needs to be.
I'll be hoping for Kill Team content to find its way back onto the channel soon but for now I'll put it on the calendar for "one day".
Until I see you again "one day", thank you for all of your support, Play On.
