I guess the 'doll' from Uika's monologue all along was not mutsumi. The doll meant Uika herself pretending as someone else. Maybe her true identity is Uika's sibling acting as Uika. But I dont understand her connection with Saki's grand father. And Im nervous of what happend to real Uika Is she dead? Or is she sick?

2025-03-11 20:28:43 +0000 UTCI’ve rewatched this episode over and over again, mostly interested in trying to figure out Mutsumi. There’s the scene of her and Mortis reconciling, with Mortis fading away, and then she starts actually playing the guitar. Part of me really thinks that wasn’t the return of actual Mutsumi but more a blend of the two. The biggest reason is how she performs the second song. She’s got significant more energy than ever, including doing a funny spin twice during that song. That kind of energetic performance fits Mortis far more than Mutsumi, yet we saw her fading away. It could just be choreographed, but we only see her doing the spin. So my money is on this being a new Mutsumi. Mostly her original self, but with a bit more of Mortis’s energy and confidence. Which would be a pretty satisfying end to her arc if that’s the case, so we can then focus on Uika for the final bit of conflict. Also, I LOVE the theory that Uika is not actually Saki’s childhood friend. For one, her grandfather used an entirely different name for her “Hatsune”, but she also has repeatedly lacked memories she should have (i.e. not knowing what the doll is and appearing oddly nervous when Saki mentions her knowing her mother in EP2). For whatever explanation, it seems pretty likely that “Uika” is not actually the same person Saki was childhood friend with. Who Hatsune is though is more difficult to guess, as Saki’s grandfather recognized her.
