Today begins our third character week! This means once the art preview 3.5 is posted we will have taken a deep look into half of the characters for the first adventure! Without further ado, let’s talk about the goddess reborn, Ur Yymir!
Ur understood she was different since her early days. From lifting heavy objects to running for hours on end, she could achieve feats of strength and endurance that even adult Elves would have trouble doing, while some were plain impossible without magic.
Still, the young Ur believed she was just like everyone else, or rather, wanted to believe that. Thinking she was different from the others brought discomfort to her, Elves are delicate beings, but she was leaner, taller and stronger than anyone she knew while growing up.
While she was still trying to figure things out, the Elders already knew what was happening, guiding her until they were ready to reveal the truth. Ur would never be like the others, she couldn’t, her body didn’t belong to her alone, a goddess willed to be reborn as a mortal and she chose Ur to be her host.
Believing in divinity usually happens through miracles or sheer faith, the actions of higher beings is rarely a sight to be seen by many, raising doubts of their existence to skeptics. But this is not the case in Elfheim. For thousands of years, in times of spiritual or physical need, the Elvish goddesses chose worthy mortal souls to be their hosts for a lifetime. The chosen of the past shared common traits to Ur, while some developed equally impressive skills in other fields, thus giving clues to which goddess had been reborn.
In present times, now fully aware of who she is, Ur knows she must safeguard Elfheim, living her life with that duty in mind at all times. In order to fulfill her responsibilities, she works out and practices daily in the training camp, her routine now stretching leagues beyond what a normal Elf could normally do. Unfortunately, her unrelenting training sessions also end up making her feel lonely, as the need for an army of warrior Elves is long gone, there’s no companion who feels the need to train as much as she does.
Always dutiful, always ready, Ur doesn’t have much time to socialize, and when she does, it often feels like she means business. Often speaking to Arien, Ur reports her findings and activities from her patrols, as well as providing help when heavy lifting is necessary. As for the troublesome duo, things aren’t that much different, Meriandra is as busy as Ur, making their friendship almost impossible to bloom, while Nil is more willing to spend time with her, she’s an airhead that gets bored far too quickly to be able to follow Ur’s diligent routine for even a day. Although she doesn’t have time to be friendly, every Elf respects Ur for what she is and the important task she has.
Finally, let me give you a little preview of what she has been up to in the adventure! Ur Yymir is one of the few Elves who are present to witness the first human to set foot in Elfheim after a few millennia. While most of the others try to help him and understand more of what his presence means, she tries to keep her distance by only offering to improve his physical condition, but even by just lending a hand, some feelings might bloom…
For Elvish Curators and above, stay tuned for sprite previews later this week!
