Short Story - Andrea of the Silver Key 2

Okay, things are going slower than I'd hoped. But I've got this reward totally done at least. I'm not completely happy with it, and there are two reasons for that. The same reasons I said (in my last progress report) that I'd explain in this post.

First, I ran into a hole in my own writing experience that I didn't know existed. I've been writing in a fairly serious capacity for something like 15 years at this point, and stumbling across an unknown whole in my skillset is a kinda trippy and frustrating experience at this point. The problem is that I've spent the VAST VAST VAST majority of that time writing Sci-fi and Fantasy works, with only occasional short works in modernish settings. So, when my outline for this first part of this short called for writing a couple of completely mundane cafe lunch dates. I was...unexpectedly at a loss. Apparently, I'm far too used to relying on all the cool stuff in fantasy/sci-fi settings to spice up mundane scenes. I wrote and rewrote the first third of this thing more times than I care to think about. And, in the end, I'm not completely happy with the result. It's sort exposition-heavy and that's a bit of a no-no for any writer. Unfortunately, if I wanted to actually get it out this month (barely) I had to settle for what I have.

The second issue is one that kinda leaves me feeling like a tease. Namely. the whole thing ran long. It's close to 6,000 words as is...and there's a lot more I wanted to put in. Unfortunately, if I went even one sentence farther, it would have ended up adding like another 3000 words that I just don't have time for. So...sorry that it cuts of write when you get the really fun bits. Don't worry, the next part will continue on from shortly after where I ended it, I think.

Anyway, those issues plus the issue I'm still dealing with for Chastity Quest, are why this is out so later! Sorry! As for Chastity Quest...I'm afraid that it IS going to be delayed until at least the 1st. Possibly the 2nd. Slogging through every single image in New Landing is proving even more time-consuming than I'd fear...and I still haven't heard a peep from the Visual Novel Maker support people. Fuck them and they're broken as product >_<.
