6/21/25 update (6/24 edit)

6/24 EDIT: I saw the specialist today and it's not a tear, it's a retinoschisis! Which means I don't need surgery! I have to check back in with them in a few months for monitoring but I should be fine to keep going on about my business. I can get back into pages yayyyyy

Hey everyone! Sorry for the silence this month, I finished the previous page of TQ and then went into my script books for the script and realized I had never written down the script for this scene at all. It's not that unusual since I often keep this stuff in my head anyway but I needed to make sure I was hitting all the points I wanted to hit and so I started writing out the script while working on the next thumbnail.

And then that led to me falling into a scripting hole where I literally couldn't choose what scenes or even what story I was working on, the scripts were spilling out and I had to catch them as they were falling. I hit this state maybe once or twice a year and I wanted to nervously laugh about it while posting the next page (I am currently cleaning up the sketch to prep for line art) but:

I just got back from the eye doctor and I have a retinal tear. The doctor says it was on my images from last year (not that my previous doctor said anything about it) and it doesn't appear to be getting worse but I've been having a spot in my vision for a few months now directly where this tear is located and I need to see a specialist. I don't have health insurance so my eye doctor is going to ask around to see what my options are. She literally has no idea what surgery would cost me out of pocket if I need it.

Now: Since I've been scripting, which I do by pacing around my living room and writing in a sketchbook instead of being in front of a screen all day, I've been seeing that spot a lot less. Which means it's potentially exacerbated by staring at a screen for too long. Because when it does show up, what am I doing? Looking at a screen.

I'm not going on hiatus here. However I AM just going to continue scripting for a bit and try and work on pages and patreon-exclusive art in short bursts. It will be slow but I promise I'm working on stuff for you guys. I apologize for the inconvenience and I understand if anyone would rather leave and come back later. My vision is at stake and I have no choice but to take it seriously.
