Added 2020-09-25 01:42:47 +0000 UTCI'm gonna be honest: I'm a sucker for punchlines like these; you know, the ones where everyone gets lavish jobs except the main character, who gets this unsavory-sounding one.
It was moreorless what I was going for with this scene, but I figured Alfred's dad wouldn't be like those other people giving the unsavory job in other cartoons; in this case, it's more of a "This is so you don't get hurt, because you're my son" type of thing, instead of the usual, "I don't trust/like you; you're gonna have to claw your way up for my respect" trope.
That's really all I can say about their dynamic, for now; there's deeper reasons for why Alfred isn't exactly a fan of his dad, but you're gonna have to wait, and keep reading. ;)
Also, unrelated note, a long time ago (late-2000's, specifically), my town had a small chicken restaurant called "Mother Cluckers", and it didn't take me long to make a similar name for Alfred's cover job. :P
