I've always viewed the master track on Ableton as the mix bus, where I'm altering and shaping the song as a whole, but I'm not necessarily bringing up the volume of a track to the loudness levels I want, or anything like that like I would do in mastering :)

Essentially putting plugins on the master track as we mix means we are also mastering the song, when exporting the song thats it? or should it be mastered as a single wav file? any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated!
