"The thick stone walls inched inexorably closer, driven by enormous pressure. The deadly iron spikes reached for Iolæ... hungering for her flesh, thirsting for her blood... even as the magic-infused shackles that bound her wrists refused to yield to her incredible strength!"
I wanted to do another picture of my warrior/barbarian woman OC Iolæ, since it seems that single illustrations (instead of comics) are going to be all I can do. And I decided to revive that classic of pulp stories, movie serials, and even cartoons, the "squeeze room" with optional spike-studded walls.
This pic had a specific inspiration–this painting by Victor Prezio...

...that was used as the cover of "Real Men" magazine, April 1963:
I'm not sure which article this pic was supposed to tease... very likely none of them; it was probably just supposed to get you to pick up the magazine.
So... I have no idea what events led up to Iolæ being trapped in this diabolical device, or how she's going to escape. (Maybe she'll be rescued by a wizard who want her to do him a "small favor" in return–"retrieve" a powerful gem from a cursed temple, or something.)
