The playtest for Mob of the Dead is coming to a close later today at 6PM GMT (2 hours from now). If you'd still like to opt into the playtest before then feel free however the map will be released publicly for free in just less than 2 weeks from now if you'd prefer to wait!

Hello everyone! Thank you for being patient with me as I get the map ready for release, we are in the final stretch! The map will be publicly available on 5/12/24, less than a month from now!
As the map is soon to be released publicly, the option to opt into the playtest will become unavailable on the 22nd of November (2 weeks before public release) if you have access to the beta version you will still be able to play it up until the public release so do not worry about losing map acces...

With the first trailer for Mob of the Dead releasing tomorrow, I've now set up the second tier for people wanting to access the playtest! Bonus post this week as I hadn't much to update you all on last Friday, tonight I've been working on designing a zombie spawner located within the casino inspired heavily by Gordon Ramsay's Steak House in Las Vegas! In this video I'm focusing purely on the geometry of the building and not worrying too much about detail / lighting, these will be revised much later in the maps development when most of the map has been realised and I'm happy with the layout and gameplay of most areas.

Not too much to update you all on this week unfortunately, I'm still waiting patiently for the Black Ops 6 marketing to conclude before I make a start on the marketing for Mob. The edit for the second Mob of the Dead trailer is just about finished! Bit of a short one this week as I've not really been working on much else other than getting these trailers sorted, I'm quite proud of how this trailer has turned out, It pays homage to the original bo2 trailers while also being something new, in a similar style to how we did the reveal trailer for Call of the Dead!

This week for Vegas I decided to make a start on some of the surrounding vistas that make up the skyline you see in game, the bulk of this map is set around the Pas Las Vegas subsection and much of the area will be accessible (including the top of the tower), as a result I must put in the effort to recreate a massive portion of Vegas so you can look out from the top of the tower and see the entire Las Vegas Strip!

This week I've been working mainly on some of the visual effects for this map including the effects for afterlife, the effects around zombies as they are teleported by afterlife, the effects for the Electrical Panels and Shockboxes being activated and the effects for the Electric Chair sequence. This week for mob I've mainly been working on optimising the map to run at the highest possible performance that I can get out of it. Earlier this week the map was running a little slower than I would have liked it to, with an average FPS of around 90 - 100 and occasional frame drops depending on the current state of the game, this is something I really wanted to try and address as lag was a big issue for people on Call of the Dead, so I wanted to make sure I don't make the same mistake again...

This week I've finished off all the melee weapons that are on the map! Those being the Shiv, Spoon and Spork! The questline to get the spoon and upgrade to the spork is fully functional and now works perfectly, there were a few complications with the Spoon animations not playing properly / voice lines not playing at the correct times but these have all now been ironed out! This week I've also started on a small project for NoahJ's next mapping competition! The maps theme is videogames and I've chosen to make a map based on the Nightmare before Christmas PS2 game "Oogie's Revenge".

The Easter egg for Mob of the Dead is now fully set up! This week i've been putting the systems in place for the main Easter egg on mob, it functions largely the same as the original with the only key difference being a new ending for players completing the Easter egg in solo. In the original map the Easter egg ends on the roof in solo with you being unable to actually complete it which I think is a bit anti-climactic, so I've revamped it for this map!
