I tried to post a new piece of art earlier today, only get a notice that I was potentially running afoul of Patreon's "community guidelines" for posting "pornographic material". What galls me about this is, it wasn't the picture that violated the guidelines; it was the text I wrote to accompany and explain the pic.
The pic is of one of my newest (and least-seen) characters, the wandering warrior woman Iolæ. She's unclothed in the drawing, flexing her biceps - so, pretty routine for the kind of pic I do for my $5/month subscribers - in front of a large apparatus that consists of two huge granite wheels connected with a thick iron bar. The text of the post was a summation of the story that led up to the scene in the pic.
The synopsis did deal (in part) with an ...encounter with another of my little-used characters, a belly dancer named Sayyina. I tried to be as discreet as I could with the description of their "encounter", but even that got flagged.
So here's the pic...
and here's a much more sanitized (I hope) synopsis:
Iolæ visits the kingdom of Cha'ra'door (ruled by the powerful but capricious King Hasaphar), the dancer Sayyina from a band of street thugs, and is commissioned by the King to rescue his daughter the Princess Adaniva. Upon the safe return of the Princess from her captors, the King throws a lavish banquet in Iolæ's honor. After the banquet is over, Sayyina seeks out Iolæ to "thank her properly" for saving her from the thugs, and they spend the night together. But Iolæ wakes up alone next morning with a troop of guards at her door to take her to the King.
The same King who celebrated Iolæ the night before now charges the warrior with treason! Seems the King also desired Sayyinaand had summoned her to his chambers. But when it was discovered that she'd been with Iolæ all night, the King had them both arrested and sentenced to death. But Hasaphar appears to give Iolæ a chance to save both of their lives: if Iolæ is willing to test her legendary strength by lifting the "Axle of Kratos", a huge apparatus consisting of two granite wheels connected by a thick iron bar. Iolæ drops her tunic on the floor, turns to face the assembly (which consisted of many of the same dignitaries which attended the banquet last night), and flexes the powerful muscles she would pit against the ten-ton Axle.
(I do have a lot of the story written, but whether I'll ever be able to finish or illustrate it, only time will tell...)
