Chapter no.272 Prehistoric Pokémon part 2

Austin saw Scizor drop down Steve the Omanyte down.
Everyone started and squashed closer at a roar echoing through the chamber.
"Bu ta," a Kabutops noised, cowering.
"'Now you've done it,'" Lucario translated.
"Wait—where are you all going?" Yellow asked, looking around at all the fossil Pokémon scurrying away.
"I don't know, but maybe we should be doing it too," Lucario said.
And then something swooped over, blotting out the sun to land on a rocky outcropping over them.
Yello stared, pretty sure she knew this one from the Pewter Museum and definitely not wanting to risk pulling her Pokédex out for—Aerodactyl. Big, figured to be a Flying type thanks to the wings, jaws built for biting and crushing their thought-to-be-preferred prey of Omanyte.
It'd probably work well on people too, unfortunately.
"Maybe we don't move," Yellow hissed. "It's vision's based on movement, right?"
"That's T-Rex," Austin hissed back.
"Maybe we get out of here before we're dinner," Yellow insisted, shuffling sideways, one eye on the Aerodactyl, busy staring at the opening in the cave ceiling as though trying to fathom it suddenly the Aerodactyl look down.
Everyone froze. "Okay quick, backup plan," Lucario ordered.
"Maybe tell it we taste awful?" Yellow suggested.
"We taste awful!" Lucario sardonically said.
The Aerodactyl snarled, lips curling up to reveal sharp teeth.
"Um, Luca," Yellow said. "What was that one?"
Lucario sighed. "'Fresh meat.'"
The Aerodactyl roared and launched itself at them, divebombing them and causing them to scatter, diving for cover—
" Bullet Pullet !"
Scizor pivoted, launching itself at the Aerodactyl—
Which dodged but fortunately missed its swoop.

" Hey, what was that ?" Above the ground, Gary Oak asked one of the Archeologists as they felt a few earthquakes.
" I don't know maybe another team is using a pokemon with Earthquake to excavate a concretion deposit."
" Hmm, interesting." Gary Oak said with a smirk as he sent out Arcanine.
Maybe he could find some kind of fossil from the excavation.
" Oi kid, remember to be careful since the cops are investigating another 'potential terrorist threat from helix cultists.'"
"I thought it was the dome guys who were doing the terroristic threatening," Gary said.
"Does it really make a difference?"
"I guess not."

Inside the cave, Scizor used aerial ace to dodge Aerodactyl's stone edge.
The purple thing glanced at Austin and dove towards with a shriek. "FOOD!"
"Oh hell no," Lucario snarled as his fist landed on Aerodactyl's face. "Get your own village idiot."
Lucario dodged a whipping tail, stayed even—as Aerodactyl dove up and down with Lucario guess that it would probably try for a feint—
"You're going to have to do better than that," Luacrio snarled—right before Power Up punching Aerodactyl in the throat. It wheezed, flailing backwards.
"Wait!" Austin yelped causing Lucario to stop.
" Let me talk to it."
" Did something hit your head ?"
" I don't think so." Austin answered back as he took a few steps towards Aerodactyl before looking at her in the eye.
" Luacrio, translate for me."
" That's what I have been doing for the last hour, you damn lunatic."
" Tell me, do you feel satisfied in this small world where you rule ?"
Lucario translated Austin's words to the Prehistoric Pokemon word for word.
" .... "
Seeing the prehistoric pokemon silent, Austin continued as he wanted to give Aerodactyl the choice to join him even though he could as easily throw a Pokeball and be done with it.
" Join me and I can show you a world you haven't seen before. A world where you can fly your wings in the sky."
Austin said as he outstretched his hand out causing Aerodactyl to stare at him before moving a little closer.
' It's working?!' Lucario thought in surprise but it looks like Lucario was wrong as Aerodactyl suddenly lunged forward towards Austin while screaming out.
" Food !"
( ~ Boom ~ )
Aerodactyl was launched back into the wall causing a dust cloud to form which revealed a knocked out Aerodactyl a few seconds late.
Aerodactyl's knocked out form caused a sigh of relief to wash over everyone while shock was registered on the faces of the prehistoric pokemon who was getting back up.
" Thank Mew, the Ghost was there to save the idiot." Lucario said before a tap on his shoulders caused the Aura Pokemon to turn to the side to see Haunter standing besides him.
Haunter outstretched his tongue before licking Lucario's shocked face.
Scizor, Pikachu and everyone stared at Haunter before turning towards Austin as they saw Austin's shirt torn from his right shoulder showing off his tattoos that glowed crimson red.
Yellow gulped as she stared intently at Austin's revealing upper body.
Austin had knocked out Aerodactyl with a punch.
Everyone's jaw dropped as the realization of what happened set in.
" I really should stop treating every pokemon I want to capture like I am in the anime." Austin whispered to himself right before throwing a Pokeball at the downed Aerodactyl.
Aerodactyl vanished in a flash of light into the PokeBall.
"Pika!" Pikachu exclaimed, tackling Austin as soon as he realized how close his human was to dying, "Pika Pika Pika Pi Pi, Pika Pika Pika!"
While not understanding much, Austin just smiled and rubbed the electric mouse's head.
" Don't worry buddy, I am fine."
"Look!" Yellow yelled.
Everyone did so as Lucario groaned when he saw Steve the Omanyte come out, his fossil entourage behind him.
"Greetings, loyal subjects!" he yelled, tentacles everywhere. "Bow before your new ruler: ME!"
"Shut up, Steve," one of the Kabutops muttered, walking by him.
"Yeah, I'm just coming out here because it beats being in that cave," a different one said.
"You guys suck," Steve muttered—
"Bow before me, new loyal subjects!"
Pikachu sighed—twitched his ears and looked up when Yellow tapped Austin on the arm.
"What do we do about this ?" Yellow asked.
" Don't worry, we are going to seal this cave back up."
Austin's words caused the Prehistoric Pokémon to look at him.
" Run !" Steve the Omanyte screamed out as he tried to run towards the cave ceiling that had a hole in it.
" And we lost Steve," an Omastar sighed.
"You promise?" a different Omastar asked.
Meanwhile the others just stared at Austin obediently since they saw him knocking out the previous leader of the cave and as per the rules Austin was the new leader.
" So what do we do about him ?" Lucario asked causing Austin to turn towards Yellow who smiled and threw her pokeball forward that had been attached to a fishing pole
Yellow closed her eyes as the Pokeball turned in such a unique way that everyone could only look on in awe.
Steve the Omanyte smiled as he was just about to reach the ceiling cave before he felt a something touch his shell.
" For the sake of all that we ourselves hold dear, and of the world's order and peace, it is unthinkable that we should refuse to meet the challenge. It is to this high purpose that I now call my people across the caves, who will make our cause their own. I ask them to stand calm and firm, and united in this time of trial !"
Steve screamed out as he was engulfed by a light before vanishing into the Pokeball.
" What did he say ?" Yellow asked as she looked at the shaking pokeball.
Austin shrugged before turning towards Luacrio who was enjoying himself as the prehistoric pokemon bowed in reverence to him.

[ Omake Paragraph ]
It is true that there is a family in Johto which can fashion them out of apricorns, that Silph Corporation has made outstanding strides in making wholly synthetic ones, and that across the sea a different, mushroom-like pokemon is used. Nonetheless, throughout human history, the overwhelming majority of Pokeballs have been made out of the corpses of Voltorb.
It is a surprisingly simple conversion, requiring only the removal of most of the pokemon's internal organs, a few alterations in wiring, and the placement of a button to open and close the pokemon's body. Artisans in the old days could go through a hundred a day; modern assembly lines do so even faster.
Initially, the secret of the Pokeball (along with the pokemon themselves) was a closely guarded secret by the rulers of Lavender Town, which governed the Power Plant. Although the reasons why Voltorb corpses treated in this manner can shrink, capture, and domesticate pokemon are still not understood by science, the secret itself could not be guarded for long. Trainers who had previously resorted to elaborate pokemon-taming techniques soon paid enormous sums for Voltorb, which were shipped around the world despite their tendency to explode. Lavender Town, for its part, gained in wealth what it had lost in power.
Today, synthetic pokeballs (often blue or gold instead of red, depending on their effectiveness) appear to be the future of pokemon training, and are increasingly used for trainers who compete in the Pokemon League. The low cost of a Voltorb-made one, however, continues to make it the overwhelming favorite among the average trainer. Large farms of Voltorb can still be found in secluded areas, where they are killed once they reach maturity so they can be turned into Pokeballs.
