Chapter no.3 The Cave

[ Isaac's POV ]
Lining up the shot , I could feel the coldness of the metal penetrate my skin . My breathe was as quiet as it could be . Everything began to slow down as I pulled the trigger .
( ~ BANG ~ )
The sound of a gunshot could be heard throughout the forest as the bullet left the gun and sliced through the air like a bolt of lightning but under my eyes , the beast .... the monster turned around and caught the bullet with its teeth .
Chills spread out throughout my body as the wolf like beast fucking smiled at me . It was as if the beast was playing with me ....like it knew , I was behind it and only wanted to give me a false sense of hope so that it could crush it and enjoy the despair it's prey felt .
The Wolf like monster opened it's mouth as the bullet hit the ground which I could only register due to my hearing as my body was still frozen in fear .
The wolf slowly stepped forward as a mantra filled my head .
' I don't want to die '

' I don't want to die '
The wolf charged forward at high speeds towards me .
It looked like the hand of death was coming near and near to my throat .
My fingers brushed against an item in my backpack just then a hope that I could live arose in my heart .

I began to count down in my head as the wolf came more and more closer .
' 2 '
Just a few meters away , I closed my eyes .
To the monster it looked like it's prey had given up on living causing it let it's guard down .
And that was it's biggest mistake as Isaac swung his hands forward . In my hands was a flare gun .

[ POV Change ]
( ~ Bang ~)
A crimson light shot out of the flare gun , blinding the beast .
Isaac was ready as the moment he fired the flare gun he rolled to the side , took aim and fired at the right thigh of the beast .
( ~ Bang ~ )
The bullet pierced into the skin of the beast but the damage was not that great as from the outside perspective it was only a superficial wound .
Isaac then ran like his life depended on it . While running he reloaded his gun and flare gun .
( ~ Woooo ~ )
The howl of the wolf sent chills down his spin as he began to look around him. He needed a place to hide both his body and his scent .
While Isaac was twisting and turning through the forest , the slightly injured but extremely furious Fire Horn Wolf was chasing after Isaac through his scent .
The beast stopped near a tree as it sniffed Isaac's scent near it . Gazing down the wolf saw torn pieces of clothing littered throughout the ground .
An eriee sneer formed out of the wolf as it howled to it's pack .
They had a prey to hunt as unlike the other demonic beasts " The Fire Horn Wolf " loved to toy with their prey . It was Isaac's luck that he had encountered a Fire Horn Wolf that toyed and played with him , if he had encountered any other Gold rank demon beast that would have instantly torn apart his body .
The Fire Horned Wolf turned to one direction as it heard the call of it's pack and began to run in the north western direction .
Up in the tree that the wolf had just inspected , Isaac could be seen hugging the trunk of the tree as blood flowed down from it's torn finger nails.
Tears streamed down his face as the pain of his finger nails being torn through climbing was finally being felt . The boost of adrenaline was going away as the pain from all his injuries and fatigue assaulted his body .
Isaac took deep breaths as he slowly crawled towards a branch .
He rested his back to the sit of the tree with his feet along the length of the branch . Isaac began to think of a plan to survive in this place . He needed to forge shelter , find drinkable water and edible food and somehow hide from those monsters .
Taking the medical kit from his backpack , Isaac gritted his teeth as he pulled out the shards of finger nails and wrapped bandages around his finger .
After a few minutes of rest , Isaac climbed to the top of the tree with a pair of binoculars in his hands .
Looking around Isaac found a small mountain in the center of the forest .
Completely dumbfounded , Isaac took a deep breath as he carefully observed the mountain .
Placing his binoculars back , Isaac contemplated as he couldn't believe it . The entire mountain didn't had only a single cave .
Climbing back down to the branch , Isaac took out his small dagger and began to peel strips of tree bark .
Tying the strips of bark in a crisscross manner , it took Isaac 5 hours to make a rope . With the dagger tightly wound at one edge , Isaac twirled his makeshift grappling hook as he connected the tops of two trees and slowly and silently moved from one tree top to another .

A crimson vermilion , a 1 star black gold rank moved swiftly through the air as it battled against the Black Lightning Arachnid , a 2 star black gold rank that had the ability to form air currents right below it's legs to fly .
Silently observing this battle from hundreds of meters way hiding within the tops of the trees was Isaac as he looked at the power of the two beasts in awe .
Even at night , Isaac knew he couldn't sleep as the moment he closes his eyes , he is dead . Taking a deep breath , he moved closer towards the central mountain .
What Isaac didn't know it that the central mountain is a place even the demon beasts avoid coming near it ?
This has caused Isaac's journey to go smoothly as he came closer and closer to the mountain .

As the rays of the morning sun broke through the land , Isaac carefully observed the small cave in the mountain and it's surroundings .
As he didn't know if any beast was actually living in it .

( ~ Sizzle ~ )
Isaac almost wanted to barf as he continued to roast maggots over a small burning branch .
It has been 2 days since he last slept as he continued to observe the small cave in the mountain.
He was still very cautious about going into that cave mostly because no monster was coming near this place and that set off red flags in his mind immediately .
Maybe an extremely powerful and yet small sized beast was living in that cave .
( ~ Woooo ~ )
Suddenly hearing the howls od wolves , Isaac couldn't help but gulp as a thought filled his head .
Those wolves had continued to track him all the way here .
( ~ Thud ~ )
Feeling the entire tree shake , Isaac pulled on the rope connected to another tree as he safely saw the entire tree he was just sitting and roasting maggots on fall over as the entire lower part had burned down .
( ~ Woo ~ )
Feeling a wave of heat coming towards him , Isaac subconsciously let go off the rope as he fell down towards a group of wolves waiting eagerly for their prey .
Isaac immediately took out the pair guns as he fired .
( ~ Bang ~ )
The excellent hearing of the wolves was a detriment as their ears were assaulted by the loud bang of the Glock 19 and the bright flash of the Flare gun .
The force from the two weapons had shifted Isaac's path of descent as the moment his landed on the ground , he sprang into a run towards the cave .
He was pretty sure the wolves would stop chasing him the moment he came near the cave .
But Isaac didn't account for one variable . The wolf that had seen his tricks who had closed his eyes the moment it saw the flare gun .

A chilling feeling engulfed Isaac's senses as he heard the roar .
( ~ Slisssh ~ )
Isaac could only look on in horror as he continued to run while clenching his left stump .
The wolf had bitten off his left hand .
The Wolf suddenly stopped as it stared at the mountain in absolute fear while observing it's prey going into a small cave of the mountain .
The wolf turned around and ran . It's instincts screamed at it to not even approach that mountain as it would only amount to one thing ,
Death .
