Buffy 6x21

Well, I wasn't expecting my breakdown at the end of the episode! But then I wasn't expecting THAT. What a glorious surprise... 💜 It almost felt like pure relief. Sometimes when I watch these episodes, I get so emotionally invested in them that it also feels so stressful and traumatic. I wouldn't have Buffy any other way (okay, well, maybe a LIL happier sometimes!) but it does get a bit overwhelming at times.

Just one more episode left and we're onto the final season! Thank you to everyone for being here with me on this incredible journey. I feel like I've watched these beautiful characters grow and evolve and I just adore them so much.

Oh, can't wait to watch! Right now I haven't got the time but I can imagine that the ending had a big impact on you. Perfect entrance!

When Dawn mentions Tara to Willow, Willow is taken aback for a moment. And right after, she starts to threaten Dawn. To me this reads as if Willow had forgotten about Tara, as if this wasn't about her anymore. It's all about rage and vengeance now. That's why she lashes out at Dawn, because she reminded Willow of what was good in her life, of love. This Willow has no more love I fear. I absolutely love the writing in that scene, including the "Willow's a junkie" part.

It Was Willow All Along

The return of Giles was made even better because Anthony Head wasn't named in the opening credits, much like Alyson Hannigan in the Angel season 2 finale. Having said that I recently saw an interview that Tony did on English TV (just after he returned from filming the early season 6 episodes) where he explained that he did so to spend more time with his family. He went on to say that he had come to an agreement to do 6 or 7 episodes at the start of the season but had agreed to come back for a couple of episodes at the end of said season! Needless to say, nobody had told him about the nature of his return else he would not have said anything!

I am kind of reacting along with you now. I have watched all this before, but I can't remember a lot of the details. Back when buffy was first being aired my friends and I would rewatch all past seasons prior to a new one coming out. So I have seen seasons 1 - 5 many many times, but i've only seen season 6 twice and season 7 only once. I remembered willow turning into scary willow, but I have completely forgotten how they stop her. lol

This is why I like to upload when I am around to fix any mistakes 😊 I upload at 6am my time and I'm generally awake by then, if I'm not lucky to get a sleep in!

Yes, thanks for the quick fix.

There is a saying "Power tends to corrupts, but absolute power corrupts absolutely" and at this point Willow, after draining Rack, seems to have absolute power! Dark Willow vs Buffy is kinda like my guilty pleasure for this show. For six years we've seen the two of them fight evil together with the other members of the Scooby's, there have been disagreements at times along the way, but to see them physically fighting each other is all kinds of wrong! But so good to watch at the same time!! The Dark Willow story arc is really incredible as the roots of it can be traced back even as far as season two when, through her friendship with Jenny Callendar, she started to dabble in magic. At the end of season 2, Giles mentions that performing the re-ensouling spell on Angel could 'open a door that she may not be able to close. She started practicing magic to help Buffy and ove the years her skill and power have increased to the point now where she is probably more powerful than the slayer, but with the soullessness of Vamp Willow. One episode left and it's Grave!

I would never have expected to see Willow as the Big Bad of any season! It's been so fascinating, but I'm more than ready for our old Willow to come back now. This one is a little too Big Bad for me haha (even though she's darn cool....)

Should be okay now?

Thank you, Neil!! It should be fixed now. I was having issues with it when I scheduled it last night and clearly it followed through with its plans 😆

About big bads of this season. It seems to me the trio was trying to be it, and mostly Warren. However, Willow is the one who actually becomes it. Interestingly, there are similarities with her and trio. All have nerdy background, and to me it seems they all feel social shame because of it. When Willow got into magic, she has been using it like a glue, tried to fix things for her favor. Also herself, become someone less nerdy. I think she didn't fully accept herself before she got boost from magic. And slowly but surely she got addicted to magic. Her path has been probably my favourite in all show. Unlike trio, Willow was able to become the big bad, because she's the real deal. She is very talented in magic. But sadly seems like she kinda tries to pay back what happened to her in school years ago, kinda like bullied ones can become shooters. Anyway, I have really liked your reactions. Thanks for choosing Buffy, my favourite series :)
