Buffy 6 x 20 Villains

WOAH! Okay, this episode was cool and unexpected and SO shocking! I kinda like this version of Willow, I'll admit it. She's just so... calm and collected? In a weird way... if you can call what she did "collected" 🤣 and she looks awesome!

I talk in depth about my feelings and thoughts in the outro, but the tail end of this season has hooked me. LOVE it!

I hope everyone has a nice weekend ahead. Like I mentioned, I'm having some much needed time off soon (just a few days, I wish it were more!). This month has been a bit tough for me, I'm dealing with some vision trouble but new glasses are on the way so hopefully that helps. I think I'm getting old 😬 I might upload the next Buffy episode a day earlier just so I have a chance to read comments/reply before my break so I hope that's okay!

i love clem so much. hes such a sweetie. i love that the demons just take care of dawn like yeah of course always down to babysit. tara was my favorite and I'm so sad shes gone. i still cant believe that the actors that played tara and warren were a couple. my brain cant handle that.

Ashley Thomas

I don't see any inconsistencies here. When they say she doesn't kill humans, they mean in cold blood, as in what Buffy often does to demons, what Giles did to Ben, and what Willow did to Warren. Buffy has never killed or tried to kill a human except in self defense or defense of others.

Maia Brodsky

It doesn't strike me as so odd. When he lost Drusilla, all he wanted was to have her back with him again, but outwardly he became aggressive, went back to the mansion and smashed her dolls while screaming about what a stupid, worthless bitch Dru was, etc. Projecting faux hatred is soulless Spike's coping mechanism when he's heartbroken.

Maia Brodsky

If you're suddenly holding out bottles/jars/anything with writing at arms length like you've probably seen older people do, it might be just that! It really does creep up! We're not alone.... At least that's some solace 😅😭

i think thats the problem im having too. i am also in my 40s so that makes sense. i have had glasses most of my life but only for distance. pretty sure I'm about to get bifocals or something.

Ashley Thomas

Oh for sure. It still doesn’t make sense he’d say those things lol

Dusty

I’m 33, I’ve been hyperopic AND astigmatic since basically birth. I DREAD presbyopia 🤣. On the plus side I have to wear my glasses all the time so I’ll never lose them whereas newly presbyopic people are awful with them lol (good luck haha)

Mathilde Sgherri

I hate that too. So much so that I’m still convincing myself he WAS getting the chip off and got tricked. F it 🤣

Mathilde Sgherri

I do prefer the "good times" and there have been a LOT of bad times this season 😭 but it's also a part of life. We all go through these terrible times (maybe not as much as the Sunnydale residents!) and I just know there will be brighter days ahead once they get through this awful year. It's just been one blow after another 😟 I would have LOVED to see Anya and Xander get married. I still say it's the one big moment I had been waiting for, to show me that everything will be okay. SIGH!

Juliette Gaming

She is SO different to our "old reliable" now 🤣 it's amazing to see how perfectly she fits in to both roles!!

Juliette Gaming

Yes!! I remember that. I much prefer them to be friends!

Juliette Gaming

The optometrist said it is called presbyopia which I've now read a bit about and it happens to almost everyone from mid 40's and onwards. It just started to come on suddenly, or at least it felt like it! I don't know if being short sighted PLUS now not seeing well at close range is a good combo 🤣

Juliette Gaming

Dark Willow is something I never imagined! I really like her, too - apart from the danger and evil side 🤣 it's just so cool to see our beloved characters play these different roles and show other sides to themselves!!

Juliette Gaming

I think it's meant to throw off the viewer! It worked for me 😅

Juliette Gaming

I've barely seen any Harry Potter, but maybe that's where it seemed familiar!

I think the "we don't kill humans" thing is actually a key component of the Buffyverse. In my opinion the killing of the Knights of the Byzantium is a mistake within the show's logic, not Buffy's attitude towards Warren and how it would harm whomever killed him. As for her dismissing Dawn's feelings here, I agree with you. Although I think it's more of a wrong wording on Buffy's side. I interpret her attitude towards Dawn's claim she'd kill Warren if she could, more like "Don't say that. I trust that you are not a killer." Feelings should never be dismissed but (potential) actions that are based on those feelings can be.

Oliver

I know you've seen the rest of the season so I won't hold back... I hate Spike's part in this episode particularly. I get they're trying to make the audience think one thing, but why would he keep saying OOH BITCH IS GONNA SEE A CHANGE, BITCH THINKS SHE'S BETTER THAN ME if he's ultimatly trying to do the right thing FOR her?

Dusty

We been waitin for this one.

Dudley, the Stardew Valley cat 2

When he yells "capture!" I think of Pokemon lol 🤣

Emmy

thhe flying bomb thing Warren used, I think you're thinking of a snitch from Harry Potter. :)

Michael Short

Scary Willow time. :(

I freaking love Dark Willow! Like I know her going off the rails with magic isn't good, but damn it's still so cool to watch. I do consider the three episodes following 6x19 to be a 3 part finale, and it is honestly my favourite in all of Buffy. Buffy annoys me a bit in this episode. Her telling Dawn, 'you don't really feel that way' after Dawn's just sat vigil with the dead body of one of her parental figures; like no Buffy, you don't get to tell anyone what they do and don't mean or feel in that situation. She didn't need to agree with Dawn, but don't dismiss Dawn's very legitimate feelings after a tragedy of that magnitude. Also the whole 'we don't kill humans' thing. Buffy had no issue killing Faith when Angel needed saving, and one could argue that a slayer is still human even if they do straddle both worlds. Also granted it was in self defence, but I'm pretty sure the Knights of Byzantium that Buffy killed were human as well. I get the not wanting Willow to destroy herself in the process, but the blanket statement of 'we don't kill humans' always makes me go, "yeah, but you kinda do sometimes". I love the scene with Warren and Rack. Rack cutting Warren down to size verbally is just hilarious to me. "Killing a slayer, that's big business for a kid", "I'm not a kid.", 'Oh-kay" and "The Trio, yeah you've heard of us." "Right, what were you a band or something?" Fucking LOL!

We're finally here! One of my favorite story arcs of the show. I couldn't wait for you to meet Dark Willow. You have no idea how hard it was for me to keep quiet throughout the season when you would make comments like "Are these nerds really the big bad?" 😂 Now you've met the true villain of the season, and I'm sure you never thought it would be one of the Scoobies. To be fair, this season really has multiple big bads, and it's one of the things I love about it. The Trio is usually considered one because of their antics and how they continued to mess with Buffy. Of course the real villain of that group was Warren. He killed Katrina, Tara, and could have killed Buffy. He is who I consider the most evil in the Buffyverse, and he's human. That's saying something. I really like that a supernatural show went there. Then after Warren causes all that destruction, his actions end up unleashing Dark Willow. So while the season has multiple villains/big bads, you can also say that the true big bad of the season is life. Buffy is brought back to life, but she's going through depression and enters into a toxic relationship. Willow spirals into her addiction, gets clean, then relapses and hits rock bottom after Tara's death, Dawn is struggling with feeling wanted and turns to stealing, Xander and Anya falling apart after their nonwedding, etc. It's a heavy season, but I love that this show was able to incorporate real life issues into a show about vampires and demons.

Osiris is even a god (the Egyptian version of the Lord of the Underworld) so the way he shied away from Willows rage in pain or fear says something about her power. Dark Willow is cool but also with the seed of real evil ("bored now"), and this season is a bit like a villain's origin story.

Oliver

i hope your new glasses help. ive been having vision issues lately too. seems like as I get older its a drop off rather than a slow progression when my eyes get worse. yay old age. but you arent old, no way. you look so young!

Ashley Thomas

Oh and Xander and Anya would’ve gotten married if I could change anything but that’s it

Mathilde Sgherri

I also love this season, I was so scared that you wouldn’t like it because of your hopeful and optimistic attitude I thought it might be too dark for you, I am so happy it isn’t. And I know a lot of people don’t like this season but to me it touches on things that (at least at the time) are still relevant today and can speak to a lot of people. Could it have been less depressing? Maybe a bit but not much, Buffy came back from literal never ending bliss, she’s bound to feel hopeless… Willow had become an addict, she was bound to lose everything… the only thing we didn’t really need was the SA but even that was done because people were liking Spike too much and kinda forgot he was evil no matter how they tried to remind them (Buffy keeps saying it, he was growing demons in his crypt…) and they needed him to do something awful for him to act on it and do what he did. All that to say I love this season and the only thing I’d change is that Buffy gets paid by the council lol

Mathilde Sgherri

Gotta love Dark Willow, otherwise she might find and flay you alive! Over the season's we have had hints of the dark side of Willow's personality, one of the earliest was in the Wishverse where we met, and kinda fell in love with, Vamp Villow. Dark Willow is the X-rated version of Vamp Willow. And boy, Alyson Hannigan is playing scary Willow really well...a long way from her 'softer side of Sears' personna in the pilot episode!

Dyrla

Willow's magical power has really increased over the course of this season. In the opening episode she used the Urn of Osiris to summon the Egyptian God of the Underworld whilst in this episode she just called and he came running! On a lighter note, her punning skills have also improved...'Ax...not gonna cut it' is a killer retort.

Dyrla

Dawn sitting with Tara's body all afternoon breaks my heart every time. And Anya wanting to help Willow - not too long ago they couldn't stand each other.
