Doctor Who 6 x 5 Rebel Flesh - CLEAN

Two parts creepy, one part HUH? It's time for another Doctor Who episode ๐Ÿ˜…

I adored the beginning to this. It just had me thinking "What is going ON?!" not to be overshadowed by the ending which was equally as interesting!

Lots of little quips in this one from the Doctor that I quite enjoyed, like the cockerel line. You know, I swear he's said stuff like that before. The whole "I never thought I'd say that again." I get that some of the things he says are quite unusual, but sometimes it almost seems like he is thrilled to be given an opportunity to say those things again! Like, he never expected to be around long enough? Maybe I'm thinking too much! But I for one am glad he does get to say those things again. Many more cockerels for our lovely Doctor, please.

I've got the same issue, though I just pause at the end of my credits and wait for Jules to catch up. No worries that way. :)

The Rising Ape

That's true. When they went up against The Dreamlord, he refused to hit the old people even though they were trying to kill them.

Also, what is the media you are watching this on? There is some weird exposition/recap before the opening theme in the past few episodes that isnโ€™t on my version. I keep having to re-synch as there is a 25 second discrepancy afterwards.

It is interesting that your reaction to the Gangers is the same as the miners (and Amy). Rory is Rory. He is compassionate to a fault and up until the Universe was rebooted by The Doctor, he was an Autonโ€ฆa plastic replica of himself. Iโ€™m sure THAT plays a large part in the way he empathizes with the Gangers. Not once did I believe Rory was brainwashed. He was acting like he always does. I canโ€™t wait to see how you react to the conclusion.

Also, he is a very caring person, trained as a nurse, his first instinct is always to help others

Oh WOW, I did not even consider that.... That would actually be cool, a Doctor Hybrid!

Juliette Gaming

HAHA yeah, now that you put it that way... It sounds like MY compassion is lacking ๐Ÿ˜…

Juliette Gaming

Oh no! Did I put 7am? I'm sorry, it must be habit ๐Ÿ˜… I'll try and remember 6am! Yeah, the concept of the gangers is difficult because there really can't be two of the same people, unless they can live together in harmony and I can force one of them to edit my videos while I just sit down and relax. It's sounding pretty good actually... Is there any way we can get this happening?! Thank you, Neil ๐Ÿ’œ

Juliette Gaming

TRUE!! I love this!

I think part of the reason Rory has compassion for the Gangers is because he still remembers what happened in season 5. Autons are different than the Gangers, but he was essentially a copy of Rory with the original's memories uploaded to the Auton body. Even after he killed Amy, he was still given the chance to make up for it by protecting the Pandorica for 2000 years. Amy, River, and The Doctor treated him like the real Rory in the season 5 finale even though he was essentially the equivalent of these Gangers at the time.

Back to posting at the usual time today I see. You're just trying to keep us on our toes aren't you! I agree with you about this episode feeling a little 'off' somehow, although I did still enjoy it. Mostly because the idea of doppelgangers and the various quandries that arise from their existence is an interesting one. I mean, two people can't really live the same life so what's to be done? Kill them? Banish them? At least TRY to co-exist with them? And then what if it turned out that YOU were the "fake"? Then how would you feel? Luckily we'll never actually come across this situation in real life. (Although, if there were two Juliettes you could share the editing duties!) Thanks for another excellent reaction, and have an awesome day Juliette ๐Ÿ’œ

I find it interesting that you assume Rory must be mind controlled or something instead of just having compassion and empathy for what the gangers are going through, then again, I've watched this a lot of times including the second part and honestly by now have the opinion that no one here is evil, just scared. But honestly, that's why I love this two parter, the moral dilemma that almost everyone has a different opinion on or different feelings about. I'll be interested to see how you feel at the end of the next episode :)

My personal theory as to why the Jennifer Ganger is a bit "different" to the other Gangers is because the Doctor scanned the vat of Flesh that then became the Jennifer Ganger. He then later on scanned a different vat which then instantly grew the lips and became the Doctor's Ganger. So, the flesh that became the Jennifer Ganger was basically an amalgamation of Jennifer and the Doctor but somehow without the Doctor's aesthetic or memories (what else is left I don't know). Maybe it's around 98% Jennifer and only 2% Doctor, but that 2% is enough to make her so different to the others.
