Buffy 6x18 Early Access & Full

WOAH..... Geez, what an episode. LOTS of things happened in this one, lots of huge moments which will continue on into the next few episodes (or even more). I loved all the surprises. Even though some of the moments were hard to watch and a bit sad, it's hard to deny that it's entertaining.

Or maybe, after all this time, I'm now addicted to the misery...

Have a WONDERFUL weekend!

Buffy 6x18 Early Access & Full

Comments

As someone who always hopes and tries to be mature, but doesnโ€™t always make the mark, I understand why Spike and Anya did what they did and I understand why Xander and Buffy felt what they felt. If I broke up with someone, even if it was completely my idea, I might still feel a bit โ€ฆ off about them having sex with a friend of mine (or enemy of mine, in the case of Xander). In my opinion, thereโ€™s no wrong or right to their feelings, although Xander coming at Spike to kill him is a bit different.

Eh? Was this comment edited / removed? I can't see any spoiler.

Andy Luke

Exactly. There's no excuse for it.

It's simply completely _unnecessary_ to talk about stuff that is from episodes to which she hasn't released reactions yet. It's dangerous territory, spoiler wise, and it's unfair to the reactor as well as other viewers.

Patrick Armbruster

Juliette has already seen the episode. I think she's also switched on enough with this season, and what to potentially expect in the final few episodes, that I really don't think a few "Ooh boy, here we go, next few episodes are a lot, hold onto your hats folks, it's the oncoming storm" type comments, in this particular circumstance, aren't that bad (again in this specific context, with this specific reactor). Having said that though, I do agree that OP's comment did cross a line between hinting at a big finish that Juliette herself likely already knew was coming in some shape or form (again with the insight she has into this season), and straight out potential spoiler territory. Imho.

Claire Eyles

Not only is this a very disappointing comment to see for Juliette but there are people that are watching the show for the first time with her. Is it really that hard to hold comments till the episode in question? Really, really?

Jonathan Hall

In all fairness to Xander, he was trying to be "proactive guy" as Xander put it and to talk with Anya, but she walked away both of the times he tried instead of clarifying that she didn't want to work things out. To be clear, I think Xander is the one in the wrong in this situation for not realizing that he wasn't ready to get married earlier, but I also think it's understandable why Xander was so outraged when he saw Anya with Spike after he was trying to make things better.

Lime Pie

Yes!! I was releasing them an hour after the Youtube ones, but realised there's no need to do that?? You guys have already SEEN the youtube ones ๐Ÿคฃ Silly old woman I am! Thank you, Neil ๐Ÿฅฐ

Juliette Gaming

Yeah, I reckon in Xander's mind they were "working it out" but he really is never clear about his intentions. They ARE all only young, and sometimes it's hard enough at my age to say and do the right thing. I just wish it were different. And yeah, good for Spike trying to move on like he was told to do. I didn't really like Spike and Buffy together as it was too toxic, but I just don't even know if they really COULD be together in a happy relationship. I doubt it ๐Ÿ˜ข

Juliette Gaming

Yep.... it's not really something you can just sweep under the rug. I mean, I'm happy for them but things still need to be worked through. Would Tara ever be able to properly trust Willow again??

Juliette Gaming

BAHAHA!

Juliette Gaming

Yeah, honestly I was hoping she wouldn't go down that path as I like to think she enjoyed her time being human again, despite her heartbreak. It does make sense for her to revert back to what she was doing for so long, so I just hope it's the right choice for her. And we've seen many times now that just because someone is a demon, it doesn't make them a bad person. I remember when I first started watching Buffy, I made a comment about someone being bad because they were a demon and I had a few comments about that ๐Ÿคฃ let's just say that I very quickly understood that it's not all black and white! There are SO many lovely demons on Buffy and Angel. Some of them nicer than humans... Yeah, Xander and Buffy have no right to be so upset about Anya and Spike. I get why they are hurt, but Anya and Spike are free to do whatever they want to do. And Xander attempting to kill defenceless Spike is a bit of a low blow, I agree. It's just SO messy....

Juliette Gaming

I really like this episode. We find out Anya is a vengeance demon again. I know that's not the direction you wanted her to take, but I think it's understandable. Despite her growth as a character, she has just suffered an incredible heartbreak. Not just a breakup, but she was literally stood up at the altar. How humiliating for her. Her coping mechanism is going back into her familiar comfort zone. Not necessarily the best choice, obviously, but it is understandable. We also get all the humorous moments of her trying to trick everyone into making a wish against Xander. Those scenes always crack me up. One thing this show does well is its ability to mix comedy and heartbreak together in a single episode. I do dislike the part where Buffy and Xander find the camera in the yard and immediately think it's Spike. Yeah, he did always creepily hang out in the yard a lot, but the camera thing just isn't his style. They already know The Trio has been messing with Buffy, so I don't know why they wouldn't think of them first. Xander really bothers me this episode. It was his decision to walk away from Anya on their wedding day, but then he wants to come in and act all mighty and righteous. Anya is right that Xander has no business judging her. Also it was a bit of a foul move to try to kill Spike knowing that he can't fight back.

Britney

Unbelievable isn't it

S R

That's the quite the comment for _assuming_ something that might or might not have happened already in my book. Seems like a comment that would be better suited for later. I find this very... unsafe, to say the least. Also goes for too many other comments today, sadly.

Patrick Armbruster

Im guessing you already seen the next episode and I hope you are okay episode 19 broke me

Hexeption

No, it's not that. Where Juliette lives there's no change in the time. For me the clocks changed three weeks ago and I'd usually see the Patreon posts show up at 9pm this time of year. For the last two or three posts though Juliette has moved them to an hour earlier (8pm for me).

Neil Hanson

I love how understanding Dawn is to Buffy. She's very mature for someone who's one and a half.

zerofk

It might be a change in daylight savings time? Different regions of the world switch at different times, or not at all.

zerofk

In regards to the next 2 episodes, I know you're doing Buffy and Angel interchangeably, but some reactors have found it helpful to watch Buffy 6x19 and Buffy 6x20 back to back, or at least fairly close to one another. Just an idea for you. Also this being season 6 you should always be prepared with tissues.

Claire Eyles

The miserable calm before the miserable storm. Ooh boy.

Claire Eyles

This episode--- is a lot. The next episodes--- are a LOT MORE...

Chris Carman

TOTALLY agree with you about Willow and Tara. This episode has a lovely ending and it's happy but yes - they haven't dealt with what Willow did. The focus has been on her magic addiction, and Willow has done a great job of fighting it, but what she did to Tara was more than the magic addiction, it was a very toxic, abusive personality trait and they haven't dealt with it at all.

S R

I agree with you. Xander may have genuinely believed that they never broke up and that they just needed time to work through everything, but the relationship should be assumed to be over after someone is left at the altar imo. It's sad to see that Xander trying to avoid his fear of becoming his father has only made him start to realize that fear with his heavy drinking and poor emotional control. As for Spike, I'm just glad (and honestly a little surprised) that he seems to be trying to move on after Buffy told him to for the nth time. He doesn't deserve to be attacked for what he did with Anya, but there are plenty of reasons he does deserve it.

Lime Pie

On a less dire note, I really liked the homage to The Raiders of the Lost Ark with the disk the Trio used to point out the location of SOMETHING on the map of Sunnydale, ala the jewel in the staff of Ra headpiece pointing out the location of the Ark in the map room of Tanis (sadly without the fire). As for the remaining episodes of the season, I quote Samuel Jackson's character in Jurassic Park, "Hold on to your butts."

David Schmidt

Juliette ๐Ÿ’œ I've noticed you're putting these up an hour earlier now. Will this be the new time going forward? Because if so I very much approve! 8 or 9pm (depending on the time of year) instead of 9 or 10pm is so much more convenient. Thanks as always and I hope you have a great weekend.
