It feels like a chapter has properly closed now. Buffy's smile as she walked away (in the purple top) was really satisfying. Good for her to do something difficult. Maybe she can make steps forward now. She's been through so much.
One of my favourite Willow moments at the end... that was just such a classic line π€£

2024-11-02 20:16:30 +0000 UTCI think Riley was the perfect character to bring back to give the "wheel never stops turning" speech. When he left, he was in a position quite similar to the one Buffy is currently in (i.e. a loss of identity and an unhealthy fixation on something that makes them feel anything). Now that Riley has managed to work through some of his issues, he is walking proof to Buffy that she can do the same. Also, I need to mention the sequence of despair (from Buffy trying to clean the grass stain to seeing the pile of dirty dishes) because it doesnβt get nearly enough praise imo. I especially like how the shot reverse shot of Buffy talking to Dawn hides that Dawn is holding her school stuff until Buffy notices. Itβs a subtle yet very effective way to alienate the audience just as Buffy herself is.

Back in the episode 'The Prom' after Angel tells Buffy that he is leaving and not going to the prom, Willow says that it is the best friend's job to grouse and complain. Trivia tidbit: Not sure if you caught the reference or just didn't think that it was worth reacting to. Buffy comparing the demon to 'mean tribbles' is a Star Trek: TOS reference. Google 'tribbles' and be flooded with citations. No tissues needed for this episode, but don't lay them aside. If fact, you may wish to stock up before the end of the season.
