Doctor Who 5x11 - Early Access Clean

I love this episode! It gave me the same kind of vibes as Love & Monsters (however, I personally think this episode is a lot better). I just really enjoy seeing "regular" humans in episodes, and Craig and Sophie were great! I'm sure a lot of you know that I also love the humourous episodes, and this one was just wonderful in that way, too!

One other thing I adored was seeing the Doctor in a "everyday" kind of setting. No time travel, having a little bedroom, playing sport, making breakfast. It was such a novelty thing for me to see, and I'm guessing for him, too. If he had to do that every day I'm sure very quickly the novelty would wear off for him 😅 but I loved seeing him have a place to live and just... exist, if that makes sense.

I really enjoyed it!!!

Fish Fingers and custard.... perfect brilliance.... hmmm.... 😁

One interesting detail with the Next times is that they got better with them - in the first series there were a few complaints when they originally put the Next Time even for two-part stories directly after the cliffhanger and before the credits, but they quickly learned to stop doing that at least for multi-part stories.

Danel4d

I don't watch the Next Time previews as I don't want to know 😅

Juliette Gaming

Wow, that is actually awesome to know! I might try them myself haha

Juliette Gaming

I would love to see more episodes where he is just doing "normal" things! This was just brilliant!

Juliette Gaming

I felt SO happy for him, seeing him in a little bedroom and home 🥰😭😭

Juliette Gaming

WAIT..... I adore this description!!!!

The Doctor cooks like he does science. It's chaotic but ends with perfect brilliance. Or something catches fire.

Martin Holt

Interesting Thought: if Sophie had not fallen in love with Craig, she might have become a companion.

In real life, Matt Smith is quite athletic. In fact, in the 2012 Olympics, Matt was part of the Torch relay - much like another Doctor back in Season 2.

Martin Holt

Ah, the good old days, when James Corden wasn't one of the most hated comedians in the world...

Martin Holt

I love this episode! I love seeing the Doctor in a “human” environment and trying to fit in. Matt Smith is so good at these subtle little moments where he says or does something so strange and alien. Loved the way he spat the wine back out! He’s a much more alien Doctor than David Tennant, who always wanted to be human so badly. I think this whole season of Doctor Who is really strong, but the finale is really fantastic!

"If he had to do that every day I'm sure very quickly the novelty would wear off for him" - you are so right... Not really a spoiler, but you might see that some time 😁

Oliver

I can’t type well so I’ll just say this Thanks to a neat mixture of this episode and my weaponised autism those scrambled eggs the doctor made were my comfort food till I was 18 😂

Isac (Welsh_ML)

I think he specified a red pen because the note was written in red.

Matt Smith actually played football at a pretty high level in his youth, but unfortunately a back injury kept him from the professional career that he had initially wanted. But maybe that was fortunate for us, as it allowed us to have him as the 11th Doctor!

A refreshing interlude from the heart heavy episodes we've watched for the last few weeks. Two-part season finale next and it's time to hold onto your hat. (iykyk) Great stuff as always Jules, can't wait to see your face next time.

The Rising Ape

Up until this episode, I've only known him for the talk show on CBS. Use to watch Craig Ferguson (who is a big Doctor Who fan that has had many DW cast members on) before he took over.

Jerry Setty (SpTigerJD1)

This is an adaptation/ massive expansion of a comic from Doctor Who Magazine, but that one was from several years before, and so is about David Tennant’s Doctor having to stay with Mickey. I actually really like the “next time” preview after this episode.

Danel4d

That is very cool to know!! He certainly had the moves. It is truly wonderful to see the Doctor doing "human" things... I love it.

Juliette Gaming

Yes, right person. Unfortunately, Mark has the name slightly incorrect. James Corden. British writer and actor who went stateside to do a talk show for long while. Known in the UK mostly for a comedy show he co wrote and starred, in called Gavin and Stacey.

Daryl

I always forget how good this stretch of episodes is. From Vincent/The Lodger for some solid low-stakes episodes then one of the best season finales then my favorite christmas special then the amazing Series 6 opening. It gets crazy from here. Also just a fun fact: Matt Smith was on his way to being a professional footballer when he was young until an injury stopped him. 11th Doctor being good at football is a joke on that.

Wojo

OOH! I think I've seen him in some car show with celebrities!

Juliette Gaming

It's all a little too much for my minute brain sometimes 🤣 I thought the red had something to do with the bow ties haha

Juliette Gaming

Craig was played by James Corden

Mark Milwain

Future Amy wrote the note for the Doctor above the AD for the flat. That's why he said "Amy hasn't written it yet". He said "make sure it's a red pen" as he saw the note having already been written in red ink. So, it has to be a red pen as it was already written using a red pen. Time travel!

OverWims

This was a wonderful break for a bottle episode. But, it's time to put on the seat belt because it's going to get a little bumpy.
